The Grouper is a bottom dweller found around Reefs, Wrecks, Rubble, Rocks and Ledges, anywhere there's a hole to crawl into.Most of these Grouper will usually be in the 10 to 30 pound range, some will go 40 to 50 pounds and every now and then up to 75 pounds.
The Grand Daddy of them all is the Goliath Grouper,this is a protected species and can be 300 to 500 pounds.
Catchin a Grouper is kind of like Tug of War, the Grouper takes the bait and heads for cover, if you don't get him off the bottom quickly he gets into his hole and he wins. You'll need to bring some muscle for this one but you'll love it when the filets are on your dinner plate, Grouper is Excellent !
