Florida Fishing Reports

Still Goin Off

hello Fish Fans, The Sailfishing is still goin off up and down the waters off the coast of Stuart. The last cold front produced the coldest week we’ve seen in south Florida for almost 30 years and it absolutely shut down the Dolphin fishing but the Sailfishing is as good as it gets anywhere in the world. Catching 2 or 3 Sailfish is almost a no brainer right now and I expect to catch 3 to 5 every trip while hoping for 7 to 10. The tempertures are getting back to normal and there’s acres of Threadfin Herring and Spanish Sardines moving in which means the Cobia are on the way. The Cobia fishing is excellent in February and March when they stack up on the numerous wrecks off the coast of Stuart feeding on the Spanish Sardines that are beginning to arrive. Kingfish and Bonita have been abundant lately which is great for bending the rods but they can be a pain in the azz when targeting Sailfish. The waters are warming up and the Dolphin will start eating again as the water temperture gets back to the mid to upper 70’s. The fishing off the coast of Stuart Florida will continue to be excellent and as we slowly trasition into springtime fishing over the next 4 to 6 weeks. The weeks to come will produce a great variety of fish and we’ll be catching Sailfish, Dolphin, Cobia, Wahoo, Kingfish, Bonita and Tuna. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 772-288-1332 home or 305-304-9049 cell

Florida Boy

Hello Fish Fans, I don’t ever remember a time when I was glad that I went a week without a fishing but this past week it hasn’t bothered me at all. I’m a fish-head and there’s nothing that I’d rather do but it’s too damn cold for this Florida Boy. Normally this time of year it’s about 50 degrees when we leave the dock and by 10am it’s in the upper 60’s but today it’s 32 degrees with a wind chill of 21 degrees and it’s not expected to get over 45 the whole day. There hasn’t been many boats out on the water but the ones that got out found the same great fishing that we had before the cold front. The heaviest concentration of Sailfish is still about 15 miles north of our inlet and there’s still plenty of Dolphin in-between the packs of Sailfish. The good news is we’ll start warming up and by mid-week the tempertures will be back to normal. The Yellowfin Tuna trips in March & April are starting to book so if you’re planning on getting in on the Yellowfin action again this year it’s time to start making arrangements. They’ll start showing up off the corner of the Bahama Bank mid to late February and by mid March Yellowfin Tuna 50 to 75 lbs will be teaming the waters off the Bahama Bank. The Sailfishing off the coast of Stuart Florida should continue to be excellent for the next several weeks so give us a call and we’ll hook you up. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfsih Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Happy New Year

Happy New Year Fish Fans ! We start out the new year with a cold front as brutal as I can remember in recent years. Evening tempertures in the low 30’s and highs in the upper 50’s for the next 3 days will have the Sailfish on the run for sure. The Sailfishing due east of Stuart has been fair to good but 15 to 20 miles north has been as good as it gets. The 1/2 day trips closer to the inlet produced a few Dolphin and at least one Sailfish on most of the trips. The full day trips to the north produced a few dolphin and 5 or more Sailfish on every trip. The Dolphin over the last week were smaller than we had been seeing but as the full moon begins to shade the dolphin fishing should be good to excellent once again. This cold front will get the Sailfish on the move and for the next few weeks the Sailfishing off the coast of Stuart will be as good as it gets anywhere in the world. There’s been 1 or 2 boats with 10 or more Sailfish releases everyday and if you want to catch’em now’s the time. Sailfishing is the main attraction this time of year but we’re catching plenty of Dolphin and Kingfish as well. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas Fish Fans, The fishing off the coast of Stuart is as good as it gets right now with Dolphin, Sailfish and Kingfish providing the action. The Sailfishing has been fair to good due east of the St. Lucie Inlet but it’s been red hot about 15 miles north of the inlet. The Dolphin fishing has been good up to the north but it’s been red hot due east and to the south of the St. Lucie Inlet. You can take your pick and we’ll put you on them. The days we’ve been fishing the southern waters we’ve been catching 10 to 12 Dolphin up to 20 pounds but only a Sailfish or two. The days we’ve fished up to the north we’ve been catching 2 to 5 Sailfish and a few Dolphin. We’ve been fishing for Sailfish and Dolphin with mono leaders so most of the Kingfish that chew the baits cut us off but we’re getting lucky and still catching one or two kingfish on the typical day fishing. The sea conditions have been up and down but most days have been 2-4 and 3-5 foot seas which is perfect for a good days fishing. Give us a call if you’re ready to catch fish and we’ll hook you up. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne

The Bite is On !

Hello Fish Fans, The Sailfish Bite is On off the coast of Stuart Florida right now and catching 4 or 5 in a day is not only possible but it’s probable. Packs of Sailfish are travelling south for the winter migration and I expect to hook-up 4 or 5 everyday and I leave the dock and on most days we catch’em. The Sailfishing is as good as it gets right now and the Dolphin fishing is excellent as well. If you’re visiting Stuart or the surrounding areas over the next couple of weeks give me a call and get hooked-up, you’ll be glad you did. We’re not the cheapest and don’t have a couch to take a nap but we’ll have a good time and catch Sailfish and Dolphin, you can count on it. I’ll be back in a week or so with another fishing report fron Stuart Florida, Sailfsih Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Scattered About

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing off the coast of Stuart this past week was good but not as good as it was before the front. There’s been plenty of Sailfish and Dolphin but they’ve been scattered about so there’s been a bit of quiet time between flurries of action. As the cold fronts push through the winds circle the compass and come from every direction pulling apart the weedlines and current edges making it a bit more of a challenge to get on the fish. One day the fish will be abundant in 240’-280’ of water and the next day they’ll be 80’-120’ of water. We got out a few days last week and caught some nice Dolphin and a couple of Sailfish but Saturday was the slowest than expected and it took all day to catch 5 or 6 small Dolphin. I guess I was do for a day like that and I was happy to see that they were ready to play the game on Sunday. The fishing will be good to excellent through the winter months but there’ll be days you’ll need to patiently wait for the pack of fish that wants to play the game. We’re catching Dolphin and/or Sailfish on every trip so give me a call and let’s go catch’em. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Good Fishin’

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing off the coast of Stuart this past week was good but not as hot as it has been the last 2 or 3 weeks. We still managed to catch 1 or 2 Sailfish on every trip but the Dolphin fishing slowed up a bit and we only managed to catch 1 or 2 on most of the trips and 4 on another. The fish are still here in numbers but the last front scattered both the flying fish and the weeds so the fish are scattered between 80 feet of water and 500 feet. The Sailfish are still moving through in packs so when you find them it can get red hot but we had to spend a little more time fishing to find them this past week. There’s still plenty of small Blackfin Tuna out on the hill which is unusual for this time of year but they’re smaller than what I’d like to be catching. The fishing may have been a little slower last week but the conditions were picture perfect making for a beautiful day on the water. The fishing will continue to be good to excellent so if your visiting Stuart or the surrounding areas give me a call and let’s go catch’em. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Let’s Go Catch’em !

Hello Fish Fans, There wasn’t much fishing goin on til the end of the week but when the seas settled down from nasty to sporty the Dolphin fishin was excellent just like it was last week. The seas are laying down and the Dolphin fishing should continue to be excellent so give us a call and Let’s go Catch’em ! Sailfish are migrating south in scatterred packs and we’re catchin at least one or two on every trip. We’ll have more days catching 3 to 5 Sailfish this time of year than 1 or 2 so if you want to catch’em now’s the time. It’s never a sure thing when you’re fishing and that’s why it’s not called catch’in but I’ve been fishing the gulfstream waters from Stuart to the Florida keys for over 30 years and the fishing is as good as it gets right now. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Red Hot Fishing

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing this past week was Red Hot off the coast of Stuart Florida. The Dolphin are everywhere tearin up schools of flying fish all along the edge of the Gulfstream. Most of these Dolphin are heavy lifters and gaffers. Heavy lifters are Dolphin between 6 to 8 pounds, kinda small to gaff but kinda heavy to sling into the boat. The gaffers we’re catchin are 12 to 25 pounds right now and we’re catchin 7 to 10 per trip. The Sailfishing has turned on as well and packs of Sailfish are teamiing the waters off the coast of Stuart for their annual migration. Last weekend the Dophin were the main attraction and the Sailfishing was hit and miss but we did manage to catch one anyway. The best day this past week was Thursday and although the sea conditions were Sporty the fishing was as good as it gets anywhere in the world. We caught 3 out of the 4 Sailfish we hooked up and caught 11 Dolphin from 8 to 20 pounds. There’s a high pressure system moving into the area and the forcast is for 6 to 8 foot seas for most of next week so we probably won’t have a fishing report for you next week. The conditions get a little sporty when the winds kick up to 15 or 20 miles an hour with 4 to 6 foot seas but when it’s 20 to 30 miles an hour it’s hardly fishable. I don’t expect the sea conditions to improve til next weekend but I hope they do cause the fishing is great right now and it drives me nuts to be stuck at the dock. I’ll be back as soon as I get out with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

The Little Ones

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing off the coast of Stuart is excellent this time of year but there will be days when we’re reminded why it’s called fishing and not catching. Last Saturday was one of those days and the one Sailfish that we caught was the smallest one I think I’ve caught in over 30 years of catching them. Most of the Sailfish that we catch are 5 to 7 feet long ranging from 35 to 65 pounds but this one was less than 3 feet long and couldn’t have weighed more than 10 pounds. We had two more that ate the bait but when they’re that small you gotta be lucky to catch’em. The Little Ones don’t travel alone so you know mom & pop were there watching the little ones feed. The Sailfish migration is in full swing and with the mild tempertures we’re having the Sailfish will be hanging around the waters off the coast of Stuart. Sailfish and Dolphin will be providing the action for the next few months and the fishing off the coast of Stuart is as good as it gets anywhere up or down the east coast of Florida. Give us a call and let’s go catch’em. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

The First Cold Front

Hello Fish Fans, The first cold front moved into the Stuart area this weekend and the morning lows went from 74 degrees on Satuday morning to 53 drgrees on Sunday. Last Wednesday before the front we headed to the corner off the Bahama Bank to beat up on the Blackfin Tuna which is usually as close to a sure thing as any fishing trip could be. I’m not sure if it had anything to do with the approaching cold front but there was nobody home so we headed back to the Stuart area and beat up small to tiny Blackfin Tuna. The fishing was on the slow side Thursday so we spent the 1/2 day beating up on the small to tiny Blackfins hoping to catch a few dolphin but they never showed up. The Sailfishing had been good for several weeks but with west winds in the forcast for Friday we postponed the trip till Saturday in hopes of a better Sailfish bite with northwest winds. The Sailfish bite was fair but we caught 1 out of the 2 we hooked up and spent most of the day catchin 10 to 15 pound Dolphin with a couple of kingfish in the mix. The conditions were a bit choppy on Saturday but Sunday after the cold front passed through it picked up to what I like to call sporty. The best part about Sporty conditions is most of the boats get to the inlet and turn arround leaving all those fish for those of us that have boats designed to handle the seas. The Sailfishing was slower than I expected but 10 to 20 pound dolphin were everywhere feeding on the acres of flying fish along the edge of the reef in 80 to 100 feet of water. The fishing off the coast of Stuart Florida will be good to excellent for the next 3 to 4 months with Sailfish and Dolphin providing most of the action. These cold fronts pushing down from the north will kick the Sailfish migration into high gear and packs of Sailfish will begin showing up here in Stuart and hanging arround. Small Packs of Dolphin will be joining in the Sailfish migration and most of these Dolphin will be 10 to 20 pounds. There will be some schools of smaller Dolphin but most of the Dolphin will be over 5 pounds this time of year. The fishing is good and this will continue so give me a call and let’s go catch’em. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Fall Fishin’

Hello Fish Fans, Fall Fishin’ continues to be excellent off the coast of Stuart Florida with Sailfish, Blackfin Tuna, Skipjack Tuna and Dolphin providing plenty of action. Packs of Sailfish have started their migration to the south and they love to hang out around Stuart this time of year. The seas have been calm to a light chop which is perfect for those who want to catch a Sailfish but haven’t spent allot of time fishing offshore waters. The winter months are considered to be the best time of year for Sailfishin but there’s plenty of Sailfish around this time of year and the mild seas are a bonus. The Blackfin Tuna have been hanging arround for a couple of months now and most of them are small but there’s allot of action. We’ll catch 10 or 12 small ones inbetween the bigger ones but there’s no size limit/bag limit and they all taste good. The Dolphin fishin is still hit and miss but when it’s good it’s really good. The Full moon on the 5th this month slowed the Dolphin fishin down a bit but they’re back and they’re all 10 to 20 pound fish. I took last week off from writing the fishing report because there’s been more fish around than customers but we’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. When you’re looking for a boatride and a cabin to take a nap call the other guys, but if you wanna catch fish give me a call and we’ll hook you up. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Dolphin, Tuna & Sailfish

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing off the coast of Stuart Florida is excellent right now and you can take your pick between Sailfish, Dolphin or Tuna. Blackfin Tuna and Skipjack Tuna are so thick on Push Button Hill last week that I couldn’t get all 4 lines in the water before hooking up unless I pulled away from the hill to deploy them. The Blackfin Tuna have been small but tasty and the Skip-jack Tuna have been 8 to 12 pounds. We started our day beating up on the Tuna and finished our day catching a couple of Sailfish. Today we decided to fish the edge of the Gulfstream in hopes of catching a Sailfish or two and hoped to catch a few Dolphin in the process. We ended up catching 2 of the 4 Sailfish we hooked-up and caught 3 nice Dolphin 12 to 15 pounds losing another one that was all of 20 pounds. Fall fishing off the coast of Stuart is excellent. I’ve got more open days than days that are booked so give me a call and get hooked-up. I’ll be back in a week or so with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Plenty of Fish

Hello Fish Fans, There’s been plenty of fish off the coast of Stuart Florida over the last couple of weeks but there’s nobody in town to catch’em. The Dolphin fishing remains hit and miss but Skip-jack Tuna and small Blackfin Tuna have been abundant. Yesterday we caught a dozen Skip-jacks and 8 Blackfins but never saw a Dolphin. There were a few Sailfish caught in the morning while we were catching Tuna but we never saw a Sailfish yesterday afternoon while Sailfishing. The afternoon bite has been pretty good so I expected to catch at least one Sailfish but the clouds moved in and the bite shut down. This time of year the fishing is good but you need to be flexible. Sailfish, Dolphin and Tuna seem to be taking turns playing the game so be prepared to target whichever shows up that day to play. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Give us a call and Let’s Go Catch’em ! Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Sailfish Tuna

Hello Fish Fans, The Sailfishing off the coast of Stuart Florida was excellent this past week except for last Sunday when all we had to show for our efforts was a beatiful day on the water catchin Bonita and Kingfish cutoffs. The next two days we got for afternoon 1/2 day trips and went 2 for 3 on the Sailfish along with 1 Dolphin and a handfull of Bonita. The next afternoon we went 1 for 2 on the Sailfish, a Baracuda, a 50 pound Amberjack on a surface bait along with the usual handfull of Bonita. We finished the week with a Tuna trip to the Bahama Bank and it was an awesome trip as usual. The sea conditions this time of year put us off the Bahama Bank in little more than 1&1/2 hours and the fishing is as good as it gets anywhere in the world. We lost count of the Blackfin Tuna but we caught about 20 in the 8 to 12 pound range, 6 Rainbow Runners, a Sailfish, Big Spanish Mackerel and pulled the hook on what I believe was a small White Marlin. The Dolphin fishing remains slow but as the new moon approaches and we get closer to fall the Dolphin fishing will improve. There’s just a few more weeks with the reduced August/September charter rates and the fishing is good so give us a call and catch fish. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Nice Mix

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing off the coast of stuart has been good this past week with a nice mix of fish to catch. The economy only let us get out a couple of days last week but both trips were successful. One trip we started out on the hill looking for Dolphin/Tuna and caught one Skipjack Tuna about 18 pounds along with five Blackfin Tuna in the 8 to 10 pound range. We spent the second half of the Sailfishing and caught one Sailfish and a half dozen Bonita. The second trip was a 1/2 day trip targeting Sailfish and we caught one out of the three Sailfish we hooked -up, three Dolphin up to 15 pounds and a handful of Bonita. I expect September fishing will be good and the mix will continue. We’ll be catching Sailfish, Dolphin, Tuna, Kingfish, Bonita and probably a few Wahoo if we get a chance to target them. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Gettin’ Better

Hello Fish Fans, The Dolphin Fishing off the coast of Stuart is gettin’ better and we’re catching a few on every trip. There’s a nice variety of fish along the west side of the gulfstream including Dolphin, Sailfish, Wahoo, Kingfish, Blackfin Tuna and Bonita. Small packs of Dolphin in the 6 to 8 pound range are starting to push through and the biggest one we saw this past week was about 20 pounds. The gulfstream currents are screaming right now at about 5 knots and with the new moon the fish have been very aggressive. We’ve been more successful than most of the boats fishing for Dolphin because we’ve been trolling more plastic than bait. Trolling plastic allows us to cover more ground into the currents and Dolphin/Wahoo can’t resist the fast action. The birds are already starting to move south and it looks like fall is going to move in early this year. The fishing should be consistantly good from here on out so give us a call and let’s go catch’em. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Tuna on the Hill

Hello Fish Fans, The Sailfishing has slowed a bit and the Bonita are so thick it’s hard to keep baits in the water along the edge of the reef so we decided to head further offshore to see what we could find. The winds have been blowing out of the east/southeast for the last two weeks and with the new moon approaching I was hoping to find a pack of Dolphin to beat up on. Push Button Hill is a ridge about 12 miles offshore that can produce Sailfish, Dolphin, Tuna and Wahoo in the updwelling caused by the gulfstream currents riding up the ridge. Last year the Blackfin Tuna moved in for June and July but this year they didn’t show up until now. We spent the last two days fishing the hill and it paid off. We only caught one Dolphin about 18 pounds but the Blackfin Tuna and Skipjack Tuna provided plenty of action. The Blackfin Tuna this week were only 5 to 10 pounds but they put up a good fight and they’re great on a plate. The Skipjack Tuna were 15 to 20 pounds and although I don’t consider them sushi grade they make a great Tuna Salad and a 20 pound Tuna fights like a 40 pound fish. Pound for pound Tuna have to be the hardest fightung fish in the ocean and when they start showing up on the hill they usually hang arround for several weeks. The fishing over the next couple of weeks should be good and we’ll be targeting Dolphin, Tuna, and Sailfish. Give me a call and let’s go catch’em. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell or home 772-288-1332

’Bout the Same

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing off the coast of Stuart Florida is ’bout the same as it has been for the last couple of weeks. The Sailfishing is excellent on most days and we’re hooking up at least one or two on every trip. The Kingfish and Bonita are still abundant up and down the reefs and wrecks from 50’ to 100’ of water. There’s been a few Dolphin arround but overall the Dolphin fishing has been slow. The best Dolphin fishing is about 20 miles offshore in the deeper waters of the gulfstream but it’s hit & miss. One day we spank the Dolphin and the next day we get the spankin. The full moon was on the 5th this month and with all the east/southeast breezes the Dolphin fishing should improve as we get closer to the new moon. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch more fish with Reel Busy Charters, Capt. Wayne 305-304-9049 cell

East/Southeast Breezes

Hello Fish Fans, The winds have finally returned to the east/southeast and the weedlines are starting to form up. We’re starting to see large patches of sargasso weed full of bait but the Dolphin are still hit and miss. Hopefully these breezes will continue and as the weedlines form up the Dolphin fishing will improve. The Sailfishing has been good on most days and even when it’s slow you’ll get at least one or two hooked-up. There’s been plenty of live bait all along the beaches but the last few days they’ve been playing hard to get. Kingfish and Bonita have been abundant from 50 to 100 feet of water and most of the Dolphin and Sailfish have been caught in 200 to 300 feet of water. There’s been a few Blackfin Tuna caught this past week in the 20 to 30 pound range but they’re not here in numbers so you’ll need a little luck. We lowered the rates by 100.00 for August & September so give us a call and let’s go fishin. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne

Sailfishin’s Hot Dolphin’s Not

Hello Fish Fans, The good news is fuel prices are comming down which allows us to reduce the cost of catchin fish. The new rates are $500.00 for a 1/2 day, $600.00 for a 3/4 day and $700.00 for a full day. The Summer Sailfish are pushin through in packs creating double and triple hook-ups for somebody on a daily basis. You can expect to catch at least one or two but if you get lucky and hit the right pack five or more is possible. The Sailfish are moving up the coast looking for cooler water and we’re catchin them everywhere from 3 miles off the beach to 10 miles off the beach on current edges and bait balls. The Dolphin fishing has been hit and miss but if your going to catch more than 1 or 2 you’ll need to get out about 20 miles to the axis of the gulfstream. The Dolphin are travelling in larger packs out there and it only takes one pack to go from zero to hero. Kingfish and Bonita are teaming the waters from Jupiter to Ft. Pirece providing plenty of action for those who just want to bend a rod. Threadfin Herring or Greenies are schooled up throughout the area and Kingfish, Bonita, Sailfish, Dolphin and Cobia are all possibilities when fishing these bait schools. Give me a call and let’s go catchem’ ! I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Gettin’ Better

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing off the coast of Stuart has been hit & miss but it’s gettin’ better. Sailfish are freejumping all over the ocean but catchin’ them has been a reel challenge. There’s less west wind in the forecast over the next week and with the full moon passing the Sailfishing should turn on. There’s plenty of bait and the Sailfish are here so it’s just a matter of time before they decide to play the game. The Dolphin fishing has improved over the last week and this will continue as the new moon approaches. Most of the Dolphin we’ve been catching are 5 to 10 pounds but there’s still 20 to 30 pound Dolphin just a few miles offshore. Kingfish and Bonita are still plentifull and providing plenty of action for those who just want to bend the rods. Wahoo fishing is a great way to start your day this time of year but you’ll need to get out early to get your lines in the water for sunrise. Most of the Wahoo we’ll catch this time of year will be on debris or early in the morning before the sun heats up in 200’ of water. The Dolphin fishing has been more productive trolling dead Ballyhoo than live bait fishing but the Sailfishing has been more productive live bait fishing. The weather is nice and the seas are calm so give us a call and let’s go catch’em. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 772-288-1332 or 305-304-9049 cell

June 30 2009

Good & Bad

Hello Fish Fans, The bad news is there’s been allot more Dolphin Fishing going on than Dolphin Catching and it’s not going to change as long as the west winds keep blowing. We’ve caught a couple of nice Dolphin this past week but hours of relaxation between fish just isn’t my style, it drives me nuts. April, May & June is regularly Prime Time Dolphin Fishing but the past two years westerly winds have reely disrupted the fishing cycles. I would like to think the Dolphin fishing will pick back up towards the weekend as the winds are supposed to swing back arround to the east/southeast but only time will tell. The good news is Sailfish are teaming the waters off the coast of Stuart right now and we’ve seen them freejumping in as little as 50 feet deep out to 2400 feet deep. There’s plenty of live bait arround and the Sailfishin’s good so if you like Dancin Sailfish give us a call and we’ll hook you up. There’s another sportfish in town right now that that will put on a show and that’s the Tarpon. Tarpon 50 to 100 pounds are moving along the beaches and throughout the intercoastal waterway between the St. Lucie Inlet and the Ft. Pierce Inlet. Smaller Tarpon up to 50 pounds or so will be found up the St. Lucie River and on into both the North Fork River and South Fork River. Tarpon, Snook and Sharks Charters starting at 350.00 available July, August & September. Sailfish, Dolphin, Wahoo, Tarpon and Tuna will be our top targets in the month of July so give us a call and get hooked up. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 772-288-1332 home or 305-304-9049 cell

Slower than Expected

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing this past week was slower than expected but we had a couple of good days to go with a couple of slow days. The forcast was for east to southeast winds but we got southwest, west and northwest winds most of the week. We started the week with a trip to the backside of the Gulfstream and found one school of small schooleys before getting into the bigger Dolphin. We caught 8 or 9 Dolphin up to about 20 pounds but the fishing started out slow. The next trip started out red hot thanks to a pallot that was loaded with schooley Dolphin about 20 miles out. We kept a couple dozen between 4 & 6 pounds and left the school to find bigger Dolphin at 8:20am. We caught 2 20 pound Dolphin and lost another for the rest of the day. Friday and Saturday was brutal, we caught a couple of fish but I still felt like somebody crapped on my birthday cake. The winds should be comming out of the east/southeast and the Dolphin fishing should be red hot this time of year but the fish and the weeds are so scattered about there’s no consistency. The Sailfish have been freejumping all over the ocean from 60 feet deep to 2400 feet deep. There’s plenty of bait along the beaches and it’s a great time to catch Sailfish and Tarpon if your not looking for fish for the freezer. The Dolphin fishing has been hit & miss but as soon as the winds go back to normal the Dolphin fishing should improve. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the world. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters cell 305-304-9049 or 772-288-1332 home

Overdue Report

Hello Fish Fans, It’s been longer than usual since my last report but there wasn’t much to report. The full moon was on June 7th and as usual the fishing was hit & miss over the last 10 days but the new moons comin and it’s time to catch fish. The best thing about the last 10 days is the winds have finally settled and the weedlines are formng up reel nice just like they’re supposed to. Dolphin up to 50 pounds will be travelling southbound on the weedline highways just waiting to play the game. We still haven’t caught a Dolphin over 40 pounds this season but I’d be willing to bet we’ll catch at least one over 40 pounds in the next three weeks. I expected to see more big Dolphin in May but the weather patterns never allowed the weedlines to form up which kept the fish all scattered about. We only have the 15th & 17th open next week but there’s several open days the week of the 21st so give us a call and we’ll hook you up. Don’t forget to bring a cooler, the fish we catch is yours and our service includes fileting and bagging your catch at no additional charge. The Sailfish are migrating back to the north so one day you’ll catch 1 or 2 and the next day you might catch 5 or 6. The Sailfishing will be day to day but even on a slow day 1 or 2 is a realistic expectation on the Reel Busy. We have a split charter available for June 26th so if you’d like to go and save 50% give us a call and we’ll try to put it together. The corner trip is still producing Yellowfin Tuna up to 50 pounds along with Dolphin, Wahoo and Blackfin Tuna. Overall you can expect quality fishing off the coast of Stuart for the next several weeks and we’ll be catchin Sailfish, Dolphin, Wahoo, Tuna, Tarpon, Cobia, Kingfish, Bonita and maybe a Blue Marlin if we get reel lucky. I’ll be back in a week or so with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Wind & Rain

Hello Fish Fans, The wind and rain has kept us off the water this past week or so but the Dolphin fishing continues to be good and the Blackfin Tuna have started showing up on the Hill which is about 12 miles off the beach. The conditions look to be improving over the next week or so and we’ll be catchin Dolphin, Sailfish, Kingfish and Blackfin Tuna 6 to 12 miles off the beach for at least the next 30 days. I haven’t been off the Bahama Bank over the last couple of weeks but we’ll be heading out there tomorrow in search of Yellowfin Tuna. The last trip to the corner produced plenty of Blackfin Tuna, Skipjack Tuna and Big Dolphin but we only caught small Yellowfin Tuna. The fishing over the next month should be excellent so give us a call, you won’t be dissapointed. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 772-288-1332 home or 305-304-9049 cell

Hot to Not

Hello Fish Fans, The Dolphin fishing was as good as it gets till the full moon arrived and it went from hot to not. Most of the Dolphin we’ve been catching have been 15 to 25 pounds and the 40/50 pound Dolphin are on there way. You can expect the fishing to be on the slow side for a few more days but the second half of the month should be excellent. The Sailfishing is reasonably good right so if you put your time in you’ll probably catch a couple. The Tuna Bite also slowed a little with the full moon but Yellowfin Tuna, Blackfin Tuna and Skipjack Tuna remain Plentifull north of the Bahama Bank and south of West end. I don’t plan on fishin much this week so I’ll be back in a couple of weeks with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Now’s the Time

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing off the coast of Stuart Florida is as good as it gets right now but the winds the last few weeks have been relentless. The forecast is looking good this weekend and on into next week so if you like catchin Big Dolphin now’s the time. This time of year we’re catchin Big Dolphin 15 to 25 pounds on almost every trip and 30 to 40 pound Dolphin when we’re lucky. The Sailfish have started the migration back to the north and for the next several weeks the Sailfishing will be good to excellent. The Tuna Trip off the coast of the Bahama Bank is an experience you’ll never forget but you better eat your wheaties because these fish are looking to kick your ass. Most of the Yellowfin Tuna have been 30 to 50 pounds but there’s been several Yellowfin Tuna caught over 100 pounds. The Blackfin Tuna have been abundant but we’re not seeing the big ones yet. Most of the Blackfin Tuna have been 12 pounds or less but the 15 to 25 pound Blackfins will be showing up soon. The Skipjack Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna and Blackfin Tuna are all mixed together in big schools so when you locate the schools it’s like being in a fishermans paradise, it’s totally awesome. Now’s the time to catch big fish so give me a call and we’ll hook you up. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters home 772-288-1332 or cell 305-304-9049

Two Sides

Hello Fish Fans, The Gulfstream is like a river except this river is surrounded by water instead of land. The Gulfstream is about 30 miles wide with the west side 7 to 10 miles off the coast of Stuart Florida and the east side 7 to 10 miles off the Bahama Bank. The fishing on the east side is usually a bit better than the west side because it doesn’t get the fishing pressure but it’s been all east side lately. There’s been some nice fish caught on the west side but overall the fishings been slower than expected. The fishing off the coast of Stuart will turn on as soon as these cold fronts stop pushing through and the weedlines and currrent edges can begin forming. The east side on the other hand has been as good as it gets if you like to catch things like Yellowfin Tuna, Balckfin Tuna, Big Dolphin, Wahoo or Blue Marlin. The fishing will be excellent on both sides in the weeks to come so if you wanna catch fish give me a call and get hooked-up, you’ll be glad you did. I’ll be back in a week or so with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters cell# 305-304-9049 home 772-288-1332

Dolphin Time !

Hello Fish Fans, March is known to be a windy month and this last week or so has been brutal. The only day fishable this week was Thursday and it was much nicer than forecast but today the only boat to make it out the inlet was the 54’ Boneshaker and it turned arround and came back to the dock. The good news is Big Dolphin are starting to show up. We caught our first Big Bull Dolphin of the year on Thursday and it weighed in at 30.8 pounds. The winds will keep everybody at the dock for the next couple of days but the forecast for Monday on into the week is for 2 to 3 foot seas. The next six weeks will produce more Big Dolphin over 30 pounds than any other time of year so if you’ve been wanting to catch a Big Bull Dolphin you need to give us a call. The Reel Busy has caught 30 to 40 pound Dolphin every year for the past 20 years and I can assure you this year will be no different. Last year we never caught one over 50 pounds but we’ve caught them up to 60 pounds in recent years. The Sailfishing will probably be very good over the next week following these windy conditions. Although the Sailfishing will be on and off this month when it’s good, it’s Reel e Good. The Kingfish and Bonita along the reefs edge should provide plenty of action if the Sailfishing is slow but we had 2 Sailfish attack our baits yesterday while we were Dolphin fishing so there’s plenty of sailfish arround right now. I’m sorry to say we haven’t had the opportunity to go hunting for Cobia but if the seas are as calm next week as forecast we’ll have to check it out. Looking for a trip you’ll never forget ? April,May and June is prime time for the corner trip off the Bahama Bank and we’ll be catchin Blackfin Tuna,Yellowfin Tuna, Big Dolphin, Wahoo,Sailfish and Blue Marlin. Travel time is 2 hours including a short break about half way but you’ll be Reel Busy catchin fish til it’s time to head for home. I’ll be back next month with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfsih Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 772-288-1332 home or 305-304-9049 cell

Good to Bad

Hello Fish Fans, The Dolphin fishing was just gettin’ good when the full moon approached and the bite started slowing down. The Dolphin Fishing usually slows down on the days surrounding the full moon but the Fishing Gods gave us the added bonus of West Winds which created a total shutdown, thank you Very much. We only managed to find 2 Dolphin on Monday and only heard of one other boat catching one. Today was so bad the only one I saw was caught on a boat next to me and it was too small to keep. The good news is the winds will go back to normal over the next day or so and by the weekend the Dolphin fishing will get fired up again. Big Dolphin will begin showing up over the next several weeks and during April/May we’ll catch Dolphin over 20 pounds on a regular basis. You’ll need a little luck but we catch 30 to 40 pound Dolphin every year, occasionally a 50 pound Dolphin and the record on the Reel Busy is 60 pounds. The Sailfishing has slowed down but if your persistant you’ll propably catch one or two. There’s not much live bait around right now and when the bait shows back up you can bet the Sailfish will show up and hang around. There’s been a few Blackfin Tuna showing up here and there and as spring moves in so will the Blackfin Tuna. I’ll be back reel soon with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Packs of Dolphin

Hello Fish Fans, The Dolphin fishing has been slow but good and we saw our first pack of Dolphin yesterday. Dolphin first start showing up in the winter months mainly one at a time or in pairs. The larger packs start moving through this time of year and some of these packs hold dozens of fish. The Dolphin fishing will continue to get better over the next 30 days and they will continue to get bigger as well. At one point yesterday we had seven Dolphin hooked-up at the same time. Earlier that day we had a 15/20 pound dolphin that went crashing through the spread and got hooked-up on 4 of the 5 rods deployed before we got him under control. We did catch a Sailfish on one of our trips this week but it’s reel hit and miss right now. The Sailfishing will be reel good on some days but not reel consistant. The Cobia are showing up on the reefs and if the seas settle down as forcast this week we’ll start catchin’ Cobia under the Rays and Turtles. The next 30 days we’ll be targeting Sailfish, Dolphin, Wahoo, Cobia and you can expect Bonita and Kingfish to join the party. I’ll be back in about 10 days with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Give me a call and get hooked-up with a pack of Mahi-Mahi, you’ll love it when you catchem’ and they taste great too. Catch you later,Capt. It’s Been Sporty !

Hello Fish Fans, It’s been sporty this week with 3 to 5/4 to 6 foot seas but catching fish was a no brainer. Dolphin and Kingfish are providing most of the action but there’s still plenty of Sailfish in town. The Cobia are starting to show up and when the seas settle down these fish will be hanging around reefs, wrecks, turtles and rays just waiting to play the game. The Dolphin fishing will be good to excellent on most days over the next couple of months but you can expect a slow down on the days surrounding the full moon. The Sailfishing may not be red hot anymore but if your persistant there’s a good chance you’ll catch 1 or 2, more if you get lucky. Wanna Catch Fish ? Give me a call and Let’s Go Catch’em ! I’ll be back in about 10 days with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World.

Special Report !

Hello Fish Fans, The front moved through and the fishing the last couple of days has been excellent. The Sailfishing was good for most of us today but two boats were on fire, one caught 10 and the other caught 11. There’s huge balls on Threadfins everywhere so the Sailfishing should be good to excellent for at least the next week or so. The Dolphin fishin turned on as well, most of these fish are 10 to 20 pounds and they’re hungry. Gotta Go but there’s open days next week and the fishing is as good as it gets. Give me a call and let’s go catch’em. Capt. Wayne

Sailfish Slowdown

Hello Fish Fans, There was a significant slow down in the Sailfishing over the last 7 to 10 days but the Dolphin were everywhere. Some of the Dolphin are schooleys but there’s plenty of lifters and small gaffers. There’s another front moving through over the next couple of days and as it settles back down if the bait moves in the Sailfishing will fire up again. Yesterday we couldn’t keep bait in the water long enough to catch a Sailfish because the Dolphin were tearin us up. The Sailfishing will be day to day over the next few weeks but the Dolphin and Kingfish should provide plenty of action on the days the Sailfish are on Siesta. Timing is everything this time of year with the cold fronts pushin through but when it’s good, it’s reely good and if you don’t go, you don’t know. I’ll be back in about 10 days with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Give me a call and Let’s Go Catchem’. Catch you later, Capt. Dolphin/Sailfish

Hello Fish Fans, The Fishing has been good to excellent with a nice mix of Dolphin and Sailfish but we’re in the middle of back to back cold fronts which has made the sea conditions sporty at best. It looks like the sea conditions will start coming down the next couple of days giving us great conditions through the end of the month. These cold fronts is just what we needed to get the Sailfish all fired up again. The Sailfishing has been excellent this season and I expect it will continue to be good on into Feb. this year. The Dolphin started showing up in greater numbers last weekend which should provide plenty of action in-between the Sailfish Releases. I’ll be back in about 10 days with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Hit or Miss

Hello Fish Fans, The recent fronts and approaching full moon has slowed the fishing down over the last week or so creating a hit or miss situation. We managed to catch at least one sailfish on all of our trips since my last report but the fish have been scattered around so there’s been too much quiet time inbetween fish. The next flurry of Sailfish travelling south on their winter migration are off the coast of Vero Beach as I write this report and should start showing up here in a week or so. The Dolphin fishin should continue to be slow for a few more days but as the full moon passes they’ll get more aggressive and return to daylight feeding machines. The Sardines started showing up in numbers over the last week or two on many of the local wrecks which is great news for Stuart Florida Fishing. These acres of bait attrack Sailfish, Dolphin, Cobia, Kingfish and more to these reefs and wrecks providing a nice variety of action. The fishing should be excellent over the next couple of weeks so give us a call and let’s go catch’em. I’ll be back in about 10 days with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later,Capt. Wayne 772-288-1332 home or call my cell 305-304-9049

Happy New Year

Happy New Year Fish Fans, The fishing since my last report has remained good but we had a couple of slow days in the mix. We’re catchin 2 or 3 Sailfsih and a few dolphin on most trips but it seems that about once a month the fish win the game, they beat me up good the other day. The Sailfish were playing hide and seek for a few days but we caught 3 yesterday and most of the boats had a couple as well. The winds crankin today but it will start layin down tomorrow and the weekend should be picture perfect. All of the fish we’ve been catchin up until yesterday have been on trolled Ballyhoo but Sardines are starting to show up and that’s like a scooby-snack for Sailfish. The Sailfishin should be good to excellent over the next several weeks so give me a call and get hooked-up with the most acrobatic fish in the ocean. We’ll be catchin Sailfish, Dolphin, Kingfish and possibly Wahoo throughout the month of January so Let’s Go Catch’em. I’ll be back next week with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 772-288-1332 home or 305-304-9049 cell

Good to Excellent

Hello Fish Fans, Sailfish are plentiful off the coast of Stuart right now and we’re catchin 3 or 4 on most days, 1 or 2 on the slow days, 5 or more on the good days. Don’t miss this chance to catch Sailfish if your visiting Stuart for the Holidays, give me a call and Let’s Go Catch’em. The Dolphin fishin slowed down for a couple of weeks so when my client wanted to catch Dolphin yesterday I was a little hesitant but he really wanted to take some fish back to N.Y. so we went for it. We started off slow but when it was all said and done we had a dozen nice Dolphin up to 18 pounds. The picture perfect conditions we’ve had over the last week has allowed small weedlines to form up on the current edges providing feeding lanes for the Dolphin. I still have a couple of days open between Christmas and the New year so give me a call and Let’s Go Catch’em ! RED HOT SAILFISHIN !

Hello Fish Fans, The Sailfishin is Red Hot right now off the coast of Stuart Florida and if that wasn’t enough packs of Dolphin are moving through as well. The Sailfishin is as good as it gets and we’re catchin 3 to 5 Sailfish on almost every trip. We caught 4 Sailfish again today and I don’t expect it to slow down over the next couple of weeks so if you wanna catch Sailfish give us a call and we’ll hook you up. Packs of Sailfish are migrating to the south creating double and triple hook-ups on a regular basis. Humble Pie

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing off the coast of Stuart is still excellent but not for everybody everyday. Just when you’re thinkin you got it all figured out and your just beatin up on the fish reality sets in and the Skunk shows up to feed you some Humble Pie. Wednesday was one of those days for us and I’m damn glad to get that out of my system. We were in the right spot and got to see alot of fish caught but they were all behind the wrong boat. I’ve been on both sides of this equation over the years and I like the catchin side a whole lot better. After gettin fat and happy for Thanksgiving we got back out on Friday to get even and we did. The Sailfishing wasn’t red hot so after the first Sailfish we targeted Dolphin and it paid off. We caught a dozen and released a few more, not all on purpose. A cold front is pushing through again this weekend and by mid-week the Sailfish should be all fired up and ready to play the game. Give me a call and let’s go catch’em. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 772-288-1332 home or 305-304-9049 cell

Timing is Everything

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing continues to be excellent off the coast of Stuart but timing is everything. High winds and sporty seas associated with a cold front usually last a few days followed by a few nice days before the next cold front and the cycle continues. Sailfish and Dolphin have been abundant over the last couple of weeks but unless your a reel fish-head like me the conditions have been too sporty to be enjoyable. The good news is Thanksgiving weekend looks like it’s going to be picture perfect and the fish are here so give me a call and let’s go catch’em ! Sailfish or Dolphin you can take your pick but you’ll probably catch several of both. The Wahoo is the fastest fish in the ocean and it’s a great time of year to target them if you wanna catch one. Happy Thanksgiving and don’t forget to take those left over turkey sandwiches fishing, they’re good luck ! I’ll be back in a week or so with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell or 772-288-1332 home

Picture Perfect

Hello Fish Fans, The weather’s been Picture Perfect and the fishing’s even better. Sailfish and Dolphin continue to provide plenty of action with a few more Wahoo showing up as expected. We only got out twice this past week and when the fishings this good it drives me crazy. Friday we caught 4 out of 7 Sailfish and 5 nice Dolphin followed by 5 out of 6 Sailfish and 6 Dolphin up to 25 pounds on Saturday. There’s not much live bait around but the Sailfish and Dolphin have been aggressively attacking trolled Ballyhoo rigged to swim. There’s nothing more exciting than a fired up sailfish taking swipes at a trolled ballyhoo, it really pisses them off when it gets away and they come back and crush it. The fishing right now is awesome so give me a call and let’s go catch’em, you won’t be dissapointed. Swarming the Waters

Hello Fish Fans, Sailfish and Dolphin are swarming the waters just off the coast of Stuart and I don’t expect that to change anytime soon. Most of the Dolphin have been 8 to 12 pounds with a few in the mid twenties. The Sailfish will range from 30 to 60 pounds but it’s not unusual to see 15-20 pound Sailfish this time of year. The first cold front of the year passed through this week bringing tempertures in the upper 40’s which is unusal for October. These early cold fronts really get the Sailfish on the move and these fish are so aggressive right now that lures and dredges and being crushed before you can move’m, you gotta love it. The conditions over the next couple of months will be a little sporty on some days but the fishing will be excellent almost everyday. Sailfish, Dolphin and Wahoo are all here and ready to play the game so give me a call and let’s go catch’em. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters cell 305-304-9049 or home 772-288-1332

Dolphin/Sailfish

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing off the coast of Stuart has been good to excellent with Dolphin and Sailfish providing the action. The Sailfish Migration has begun and small packs of Sailfish will be migrating to the south bringing more and more Sailfish to the waters off the coast of Stuart. Santa Claus and his lovely wife booked me last week and wanted me to hook them up with some Dolphin. We found a great looking color change with scattered weed and put out the lines in search for Dolphin. We got covered up twice by one of these packs of Sailfish and as much as it killed me to drive away from a pack of hungry Sailfish Santa wanted to eat his catch. The seas were on the Sporty side for most of last week but Friday and Saturday couldn’t have been nicer and the fishing was excellent. Saturday was so nice we left the dock at 7am and were fishing off the corner of the Bahama Bank at 9am. We spent the morning catchin Blachfin Tuna and Skip-Jack Tuna and finished the day on the axis of the Gulfstream catchin Dolphin, it was another great trip. The Wahoo fishing is starting to heat up and and November is prime time Wahoo fishing. The fishing is good so tell me what to catch and let’s go catch’em. I’ll be back reel soon with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Fall Fishing/ Stuart Florida

Hello Fish Fans, The cool fronts have begun and as fall sets in there’s lots of options offshore Stuart Florida. The Sailfishing is good to excellent on most days and the sea conditions are milder now than they usually are late in the year. The Wahoo will start showing up soon and by November you should consider getting out early and take a shot at the fastest fish in the ocean. The Dolphin are starting to show up and some of these fish have been 20 to 30 pounds. The debris from the Tropical storms and Hurricanes are starting to show up off the Southeast coast of Florida so Dolphin fishing is an excellent idea right now. Over the years while Dolphin fishing offshore I’ve found almost everything you could imagine floating out there and it usually holds Dolphin, Lots of Dolphin and most of the time Wahoo. We wanted go looking for Dolphin and debris yesterday but a 3 to 5 foot choppy sea slowed us up a bit. We settled for 20 small Blackfin Tuna, a 20 pound dolphin and called it a day at 11am. The weather and sea conditions were picture perfect all week long until Sat.... I’m sure it’s happened to you to. The fishing is good so give me a call and let’s go catch’em ! I’ll be back in a week or so with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Let’s Go Catch’em !

Hello Fish Fans, There wasn’t much fishin goin on with all the storms passin by the last couple of weeks but the storms have cleared out and the fish are ready to play the game. The Sailfishin the last few days has been good and this should continue right through fall and on into winter. We spent the morning Sailfishin and caught 2 out of 3 before going further offshore lookin for Dolphin. We didn’t find any Dolphin but we did catch Blackfin Tuna and Skip-Jack Tuna. The Dolphin fishing will be pickin up over the next couple of weeks and by October the Dolphin fishin should be good to excellent. There was a couple of boats that got into the Dolphin this weekend and most of the fish were 8 to 12 pounds with a few 20 pounders in the mix. There’s alot of sargasso weed scattered about and now that the wind has settled down it will only take a few days for the currents to form weedlines. The fish want to play and so do you so give us a call and Let’s Go Catch’em ! I’ll be back in a week or so with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Not Much !

Hello Fish Fans, There’s not much fishin going on these days and with the Tropical Storms and Hurricanes spinning all around the atlantic it doesn’t look like anything is going to change for another week or two. We only managed to get out a couple of times over the last 2 weeks and the fishing was on the slow side. The fishing wasn’t too bad before Gustav passed by on it’s way to the Gulf Coast but 2+ feet of rain flowing off the Florida Mainland into the ocean chased out the bait and of course the fish followed. The conditions don’t look too bad going into this weekend and with a little bit of luck we’ll be catchin fish. The Dolphin fishin should be good in the deeper waters off the coast and there’s plenty of Sailfish around so when the conditions improve the fishing should get back to normal. So far we’ve been lucky and the hurricanes have left us alone, hopefully this will continue and we can get back to fishin before I go totally nuts. I’ll be back with another fishin report as soon as possible but until the charter fleet gets back on the ocean there’s not much to report. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Tropical Storm Fay

Hello Fish Fans, Overall the Sailfishing has been good since my last report with Kingfish and Bonita bending the rods. The Dolphin fishing has been slow but should improve over the next couple of weeks. The Dolphin fishing usually picks back up in September and Tropical Storm Fay scattering debris throughout the carribean is just what the doctor ordered. As this debris floats northward in the gulfstream currents bait gathers below attracting Dolphin, Wahoo, Tripletail, Sailfish and sometimes even Blue Marlin. Tropical Storm Fay will shut the fishing down for a few days but the fishing is usually excellent when it settles back down. I’ll be back in a week or two with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters LET’S GO FISHIN !

Great to be back !

Hello Fish Fans, It was nice to visit the mountains but it’s great to back on the water. The Blackfin Tuna are still stacked up on Push Buton Hill but there was more small ones than big ones yesterday. We caught a few nice ones so I would expect the Tuna fishing to remain good for a few more weeks. The Summer Sailfish run has free jumping Sailfish all over the waters off the coast of Stuart. There will be days over the next few weeks we’ll be catchin 3 to 5 Sailfish a day like we do in the winter months so if you want to catch’em and like calm seas this is your chance to catch’em in comfort. The Dolphin fishing is slow and there’s a few being caught but it’s not a great target right now. It usually picks back up late this month or early next month so in the meantime I’d recommend Blackfin Tuna for meat fishin and Sailfish and Bonita will provide plenty of sportfishing action. There’s plenty of live bait along the beach with Tarpon, Snook, Kingfish and Bonita chasing them around. Give us a call and let’s go catch’em ! I’ll be back in a week or so with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell or 772-288-1332 home

Still Catchin !

Hello Fish Fans, We’re still catchin lots of football size Blackfin Tuna on Bush Button Hill, most of these fish are 4 to 8 pounds with a few 12 to 18 pound Tuna in the mix. Many of the Blackfin Tuna we’re catchin aren’t as big as I’d like them to be but there as tasty as Tuna get. The Dolphin fishing is hit and miss but weve caught a few 15 to 25 pound Dolphin over the last couple of weeks. The Sailfishing has been hit and miss as well but when it’s been good it’s been really good. The Bonita are so thick that somedays you can’t keep a bait in the water long enough to catch a Sailfish. These 10 to 15 pound Bonita pull like they’re 20 to 30 pounds so the first 4 or 5 are fun but after 10 or 12 they become a pain in the a.. There’s been quite a few Cobia caught since my last report which is unusual for this time of year but always a welcome site. Captain Peter aboard MY Other Honey caught a 257 pound Swordfish about a week ago on a swordfish charter, that’s a pile of Sworfish Steaks. The conditions during the summer months are usually perfect for Swordfishin. Overall the fishin’s been good and we’re catchin Sailfish, Blackfin Tuna, Kingfish, Bonita and Dolphin. I’ll be taken off to the mountains for couple of weeks and will resume fishing on the 28th, the next report will be in early August. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell

Gotta Love the Corner !

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing off the coast of Sruart has been excellent since my last report. Sailfish, Kingfish, Blackfin Tuna and Bonita have been providing most of the action. There’s been a few Nice Dolphin caught but most of the Dolphin we’ve been seeing have been peanut size. I don’t get to do as many Corner Trips as I used to because of what fuel prices have done to the price of the trip but it’s truely a fish heads dream. The Corner Trip is as close to a sure thing as it gets and yesterday was no exception. We headed out the St. Lucie Inlet about 6:30am with a 60 mile ride towards the Bahama Bank and a 2 to 3 foot sloppy sea which slowed us down a litle. We arrived to my honey hole and put the lines out at 8:30am, By 8:35am we had our first Blackfin Tuna Triple and for the next 6 1/2 hours it was non-stop action. The action was great and the variety of fish was as good as it gets anywhere in the world. We caught 29 Blackfin Tuna up to 28 pounds, 1 Bull Dolphin about 25 pounds, 3 Huge Spanish Mackerel, 10 Rainbow Runners and released 1 Sailfish and 20 or more Bonita, You Gotta Love the Corner ! The Reel Busy is available for both day trips which do not require a passport and weekend trips that require a passport. I’ll be back in 10 days with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell

Take Your Pick !

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing off the coast of Stuart is red hot right now and you can take your pick. The summer Sailfish run is on and packs of Sailfish are scattered all over the waters just off the coast of Stuart. Since my last report we’ve caught Sailfish in 300 feet of water, 200 feet and today we caught 2 in 115 feet of water after catchin Blackfin Tuna all morning. The Blackfin Tuna are still stacked up on Push Button Hill and we’re catchin 15 to 20 on every trip. These Blackfins aren’t as big as the ones we catch on the Tuna trip but they’re 5 to 8 pounds and you’ll run out of ways to eat them before you run out of Tuna. The Dolphin fishing has returned to hit and miss but we’re catchin 1 or 2 on almost every trip and the days we’ve run into the schools we’ve caught as many as 15. The wethers been great and the fishin is awesome so give us a call and let’s go catch’em ! I’ll be back in 7 to 10 days with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Tuna Time !

Hello Fish Fans, Summertime is here and the Blackfin Tuna are throwing a party so grab your favoriye Tuna Lures and hit the hill. There’s a ridge about 12 miles off the coast of Stuart and the Blackfin Tuna are all over it bustin up flying fish and squid. They moved in last weekend and have been there all week so I don’t expect them to leave anytime soon. They could stick around for weeks and sometimes for months but we’ll just have to wait and see. These Blackfin aren’t reel big but there not reel small averaging about 5 to 8 pounds and as good as it gets on a plate. On 2 trips this week we caught 20 or more in about 2 hours catchin double and triples on every pass. The Dolphin fishin has been on and off on this side of the Gulfstream but on the eastern edge of the gulfstream towards the Bahama Bank the Dolphin fishin is red hot with Dolphin up to 50 pounds. I’ll be fishin the backside of the Gulfstream this weekend and with a little bit of luck we’ll load up on 20 to 30 pounders and maybe find that 40 to 50 pound Bull that’s eluded me so far this year. The Yellowfin Tuna have been consistently showing up 15 miles south of Lucaya and about 15 miles nort of Matanilla Shoals. Most of these Yellofin tuna are 35 to 65 pounds but tuna over 100 pounds are always a good possibility. Blackfin Tuna up to 25 pounds are right up against the Bahama Bank off Matanilla Shoal in 200 feet of water. This is a great time of year to put together a Bahama’s Trip so get out your passport and give us a call. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Give me a call and let’s go catchem’ ! Catch you later, Capt. Gettin Better

Hello Fish Fans, The winds have been blowing from the west for almost the entire month of May slowing the fishing down to a crawl but it’s finally gettin better. The winds moved around to the northeast yesterday and it looks like we might be gettin back to the east/southeast breezes that normally flow this time of year. The winds shifting to normal and the new moon on the June 3rd should provide excellent Dolphin fishing for the next 2 or 3 weeks. The Sailfish are starting to show up for the summer run and Sailfishing should be good to excellent over the next 3 to 5 weeks. June might be my favorite month of the year for fishing off the coast of Stuart because of all the options. We’ll be running up the beach looking for Tarpon crashing bait and hooking up Tarpon between 75 and 150 pounds. Smaller Tarpon are beginning to move into the inlets and will be stacking up throughout the intercoastal waterway and the rivers. Just a few miles offshore we’ll be catchin Sailfish, Dolphin, Kingfish and Bonita in 75 to 150 feet of water. The deeper waters of the gulfstream in 800 to 1500 feet of water will be holding bigger packs of Dolphin and you never know you just might catch the grand-daddy of them all while you out there, the Blue Marlin. This past Saturday we had a Blue Marlin free jumping out in front of the boat that had to weigh at least 350 pounds. We tried to get him hooked-up for about 20 minutes but he dissapeared and a storm chased us out of the area. I’ll see him again one day and maybe next time we’ll get him hooked-up. The Tuna fishing for the next 6 to 8 weeks will be excellent and we’ll be catchin Yellowfin Tuna, Skip-Jack Tuna and Blackfin Tuna. I’ve decided not to raise our rates but the 800.00 day will be limited to about 10 miles offshore, 900.00 up to 20 miles and 1000.00 up to 30 miles offshore. The Tuna Trip will remain at 1300.00 a day. I’ll be back in about 10 days with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfsih Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters Let’s Go Catch’em !

Gotta be Lucky

Hello Fish Fans, The Dolphin Fishin should be Red Hot this time of year but the last 2 weeks there’s been allot more fishin than catchin goin on. We’ve caught some Big Dolphin over 30 pounds but fishin all day for 2 or 3 fish is not what the doctor ordered. The winds normally blow out of the east and southeast this time of year forming up weedlines that are teaming with Dolphin just waiting to play the game but that hasn’t been the case lately. The southwest and west winds have most of the weedlines broken up and scattered and the Dolphin are just as scattered as the weeds. Everyday 1 or 2 boats get lucky and catch a few nice Dolphin but it’s been slower than I’ve seen it in over 30 years of fishin off the southeast coast of Florida. One day last week we covered over 90 miles of water between 80 feet and 1800 feet of water and never found a Dolphin, 2 days later we fished all day and only caught 2 Dolphin, one at 33 pounds and the other weighed 10 pounds. I’m sure it’ll get better and I hope it’s reel soon but until these winds stop swingin arround you gotta be lucky. There’s Dolphin, Sailfish, Kingfish and Wahoo out there but it’s hit and miss and day to day. I hope to have better news in my next report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Dissapointing but no Surprize

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing over the last week or so has been dissapointing but it’s no surprize. The full moon almost always slows the Dolphin fishin down to a crawl for a few days but when you add the west winds of an April cool front to the mix you’re gonna need to get lucky. We had a nice catch of Dolphin on every trip except a 1/2 day trip on the 21st, I guess the fish have to win every now and then to keep them interested in playin the game. The full moon has passed and the Dolphin fishing will be excellent over the next few weeks. May & June is the best time to catch Big Dolphin in the 40 to 50 pound range so give us a call and let’s go catch’em. The full moons will be May 19th and June 18th, you can expect the Dolphin fishin to slow down for 3 to 5 days on either side of the full moons. The full moons aren’t all bad however, the full moons of May, June and July are Prime Time for Blue Marlin fishing. The axis of the Gulfstream is teaming with Blue Marlin feeding on schooley Dolphin this time of year and they get very aggressive arround the full moons. The axis of the Gulfstream is located about 25 miles off the coast of Stuart and the Reel Busy is the only charter boat that visits these waters on a regular basis, that’s probably why we catch more Blue Marlin than the others. The Cobia have arrived late this year but there’s plenty of them arround right now and there’s been several caught between 40 and 50 pounds over the last week or two. Sailfishing is on the slow side but there’s a few being caught on a daily basis. Take your pick,Dolphin,Sailfish,Blue Marlin,Cobia,Tuna,Swordfish and Wahoo are all possible targets this time of year so give us a call and let’s go catch’em. I’ll be back in 7 to 10 days with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 772-288-1332 home or 305-304-9049 cell

Cool Fronts

Hello Fish Fans, Cool Fronts continue to come into town slowing the fishing down for a couple of days every week or so but after they pass the fishing is excellent. We caught 1 or 2 Sailfish on every trip this week along with 10 to 20 Dolphin. One day we only caught 10 dolphin but 3 of them were between 20 and 30 pounds and most of the rest were Gaffers. The days we caught 20 or more Dolphin we were finding bigger schools but not as many big ones. There’s another cool front moving through this weekend so the fishing will probably be a little tougher for a couple of days but by mid week the Sailfish and Dolphin will be chewin. This is a great time of year to be catchin fish off the coast of Stuart so give us a call and let’s go catchem’. I’ll be back in a week or so with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 772-288-1332 home or 305-304-9049 cell

April 02 2008

Sringtime Fishin !

Hello Fish Fans, Springtime Fishin off the coast of Stuart Florida is excellent and there’s a variety of fish to choose from. Sailfish, Dolphin, Wahoo, Cobia, Kingfish, Swordfish, Blue Marlin, Tuna and Bonita. The Sailfishin is day to day but if you’re patient you’ll probably catch 1 or 2, the boats that targeted them this week all managed to catch a couple. The Dolphin fishin is excellent right now and the bigger Dolphin are starting to show up. There’s was several Dolphin in the 25 to 30 pound range caught over the last week or so and by this time next month the 35 to 50 pounders will start showing up. The best time to catch a monster Bull Dolphin is May and June especially around the new moons. Targeting Dolphin on the Reel Busy this time of year will produce at least 8 to 10 Dolphin and on a good day 12 to 18 is a typical catch. The Cobia are starting to show up on the wrecks, turtles and rays and this should continue through the month of April. The sea conditions should be more condusive for cobia Fishing next week, the seas were a little choppy for it this week but there were a few caught last weekend up to 30 pounds. There’s been a few Wahoo around so if your up to getting an early start chances are pretty good that you could start your day with a 20 to 30 pound Wahoo. The best time to catch’em is between sunrise and 9am although if you find floating debris while Dolphin fishin you’ll probably find a few wahoo hangin around under the debris. I’m not a big fan of catching Kingfish and Bonita but if you just want to bend a rod there’s plenty of them around. April, May, June are all excellent months to target Blue marlin and Swordfish off the coast of stuart. The Blue Marlin will be cruising around about 20 miles offshore feeding on schooley Dolphin for the next several months and although they’re not as abundant as Dolphin if you put your time in there’s a good chance you’ll get the opportunity to catch one of these monsters. The Swordfishing is excellent right now but the sea conditions are not always cooperative, it’s not much fun drifting the Gulfstream at night in a 3 to 5 or 4 to 6 foot sea. It’s not to often that we don’t catch’em when the sea conditions are mild but it does happen. April, May and June is also primetime for the Reel Busy Tuna Trip. This trip is designed for fish heads like me, it’s a 12 hour day and a 60 mile ride. It’s usually about 1 1/2 hour ride each way, 2 hours if the sea conditions slow us down. We start out catchin Blackfin Tuna up to 25 pounds unless we find the Yellowfin Tuna on the way and when you’ve had enough Tuna fishin Wahoo, Dolphin and Blue Marlin are next on the hit list. The offshore fishing over the next 90 days is consistantly good year after year so if you ready to catch fish give me a call and let’s go catch’em. I’ll be back in 7 to 10 days with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the world. Catch you Later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters, 772-288-1332 home or 305-304-9049 cell

Tuna Fishing

Hello fish Fans, The fishing off the coast of Stuart has been fair to good thanks to the cold fronts that keep pushing west winds into the area for days at a time. Bonita are everywhere and the first few are fun to catch but after a while you just want them to leave the baits alone so the Dolphin or Sailfish can get a chance to eat. The Manta Rays are starting to show up, unfortunetly the conditions have prevented the Cobia from tagging along but when the conditions improve we’ll be catchin Cobia on a regular basis. The Sailfishing has been on and off but there’s still a few around if you put your time in you’ll catch’em. I did my first Tuna Trip to the corner a couple of days ago and caught 15 Blackfin Tuna up to 25 pounds in just a few hours. The Yellowfin Tuna haven’t shown up on the corner yet but the Blackfin Tuna are plentifull. The Tuna Trip is a 60 mile ride but when the sea conditions are mild it’s only about an hour and a half on the Reel Busy and the action is well worth the trip. The sea conditions slowed us down a little on this trip but it still only took two hours to get to the Tuna grounds. I’ll be back in a week or two with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Give us a call and Let’s Go Fishin ! 772-288-1332 home or 305-304-9049 cell Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Like Night & Day

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing over the last couple of weeks has been like night & day. The fishing has been excellent when the winds blow any combination containing north and east but when the winds contain any combination of south or west the fishing slowed to a crawl. There’s another cold front pushing thru today bringing tempertures down to the lower 40’s tonight which is unusual for late February. The Spanish Sardines are stacked up on the wrecks which should improve the Sailfishing off the coast of Stuart on into March. The Dolphin fishing is still excellent and probably will be for the next several months. The Dolphin will be getting bigger and bigger over the next couple of months and we’ll start seeing more 20 and 30 pound Dolphin as we get into April and May. Most of the Dolphin right now are 6 to 12 pounds but a few in the 15 to 20 pound class are being caught almost on a daily basis. We haven’t seen any Cobia yet but they’ll being showing up reel soon. The kingfish are scattered around but there’s plenty around if you looking to catch’em. The Wahoo is the fastest fish in the ocean and March/April is an excellent time of year to target them. The best time of day to catch these speedsters is early morning so get out for sunrise and with a little bit of luck you might catch a couple while the other boats are catchin for baitfish. The fishing over the next couple of weeks should be excellent so give us a call and let’s go catch’em. I’ll be back in a week or two with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 772-288-1332 home 305-304-9049 cell

Movin In

Hello Fish Fans, The first part of the week wasn’t fishable due to a cold front pushing thru but the end of the week was as good as it gets. The Dolphin fishing was red hot with packs of Schooley Dolphin in the 5 to 10 pound class and we had several 20 pounders. There’s been a shortage of live bait off the coast of Stuart for the last two months but the Greenies are movin in and the Sailfishing lit up yesterday like it should have done weeks ago. I think there were more Sailfish caught yesterday than there was for the first 2 weeks of February combined. There’s another cold front pushing thru the first part of the week which will shut us down for a day or two but when it passes the Sailfish and Dolphin should be plentifull. The fishing is almost predictable this time of year. Winds out of the south, soutwest, west and northwest will slow the fishing down unless you get lucky but winds out of the north, northeast, east and southeast will provide excellent fishing conditions and you won’t be dissapointed. I’ll be back in a week or two with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World Catch you later, Capt. February 10 2008

Day to Day

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing continues to be day to day with Dolphin providing most of the action on the current edges about 6 miles off the beach. Packs of Schooley Dolphin in the 5 to 10 pound range are travelling south on rips and current edges along the coast feeding on small flying fish and baitfish in the scattered weed. The Sailfish have been hit and miss so you’ll want to bring a little luck with you if you want to catch’em. Timing is everything this time of year because of the cold fronts that pass thru on almost a weekly basis. This past week we caught 10 Dolphin Tuesday with a NE wind, as the front approached we caught only 2 dolphin on a S wind Wednesday, the SW-W wind on Thursday produced ZIPPO, and finished the week with 16 Dolphin with a N wind on Saturday. The fishing will continue to be good inbetween the fronts with Sailfish, Dolphin, Kingfish, Bonita and Wahoo providing most of the action.I’ll be back in a week or two with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Bi-Weekly Reports

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing reports for 2008 will be bi-weekly like they used to be with special reports mixed in from time to time. I enjoy writing them a couple of times a month but weekly was kinda like a second job. The Sailfishing was slower than expected in January but they’re here in numbers now and that means Red Hot Sailfishing for February just like last year. Everybody caught at least one or two Sailfish yesterday and the best is yet to come. January was tough last year as well but February was as good as it gets and I look foward to the days catching 4 or 5 instead of struggling to catch 1 or 2 like it was in January. The Dolphin and Kingfish have been plentifull on most days and this will continue thru February. The Cobia will start showing up in February and be plentifull thru March. Snook Season will open on February 1st and Snook fishing at night is a must if you like light tackle plug fishing. I’ll be back in a couple weeks with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell or 772-288-1332 home

Bring’em On !

Hello Fish Fans, The Sailfishing should of been red hot over the last few weeks but the Sailfish are still gathered up north of Ft. Pierce making it hit & miss off the coast of Stuart. As soon as the bait starts showing up along the coast of Stuart the Sailfishing will improve but it’s looking like February may out perform January like it did last year. We’re catching a few right now but we’re not seeing days with 4 or 5 like we usually do. There’s alot of small Dolphin and Kingfish around so even on a slow day we’re catching a few fish but until the bait shows up the Sailfishing will continue to be hit & miss. The good news is the bait will show up and the Sailfishing will be as good as it gets. Last year the Sailfishing picked up at the end of January and by February we were catching 4 to 5 everyday and our best day was 10 on Vallentines Day. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

January 06 2008

Still Waiting

Hello Fish Fans, The Sailfish have been gathering off Ft. Peirce for the last few weeks but we’re still waiting for the big push to get to Stuart. The cold front that moved through the middle of last week brought tempertures in the 30’s and 8 to 12 foot seas so we decided not to fish Thursday. The next few days we spent too much time fishin and not enough time catchin. Saturday was our best day with 1 Sailfish, 5 Dolphin and one nice Kingfish. The drop in water temperture should get the Sailfish pushin further south again and things can get back to normal. The forecast looks good this week and the fishing will be better than last week. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters LET’S GO FISHIN !

December 23 2007

Merry Christmas !

Merry Christmas Fish Fans, The Sailfishing off the coast of Stuart was slow to excellent last week, some boats never saw one while others got in the bite and caught 8 or 9. Overall there’s alot of Sailfish around but the last couple of weeks the Sailfish have been more like my nemisis than my specialty. It’s always more fun to be the one that’s catchin instead of the one who’s watchin but every dog has it’s day. The fishing should be excellent over the holidays and the weather forcast is good so give me a call and we’ll hook you up with Sailfish, Dolphin, Kingfish and Bonita. December 28th, 29th and 30th are the available dates this week. Merry Christmas ! Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell or 772-288-1332 home

December 16 2007

Migration Stalled

Hello Fish Fans, The Sailfish migration stalled this week keeping most of the fish off FT. Pierce and points further north. The lack of cold fronts and a rare December tropical storm moving accross the carribean seem to shut the Sailfishing down towards the end of last week. There’s a cold front moving thru today and we’ll see tempertures in the upper 40’s so the Sailfish will be on the move again over the next couple of days. The Sailfishing usually slows down as a cold front approaches, they don’t feed as well when the rain and clouds move in. The Sailfishing turns on 2 to 3 days after a cold front passes and and the Sailfishing remains excellent til the next cold front approaches, this cycle will continue thru February. There’s been quite a few small Dolphin around but most of them are not big enough for a circle hook to be effective so keep a spinning rod ready with some chunks of bait on a J-hook and feed’em. The Kingfish have moved in so thick they can’t be avoided which is great if you want to catch’em but they can drive you crazy when your targeting Sailfish. By the middle of the week til the next cold front moves in the fishing will be excellent with Sailfish, Dolphin and Kingfish providing the action. Give us a call and let’s go catch’em ! I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell or 772-288-1332 home

Better Late than Never

Hello Fish Fans, The Sailfishing had been dissapointing for this time of year the last couple of weeks but all that changed this weekend. Friday was the first day of the Annual Pirates Cove Sailfish Tournament and the Sailfish decided to show up. There’s been 120 Sailfish caught on 22 boats fishing the tournament in the last 2 days and packs of Sailfish are popping up producing double and triple hook-ups from Stuart to Ft. Pierce. This 20 mile stretch is teaming with Sailfish and the Sailfishing will be excellent for the next 4 to 6 weeks. This is the same stretch of water that as recently as last week was hit or miss, a few boats got lucky and the rest of us never got a shot. The Sailfishing off the coast of Stuart will be Red Hot for at least the next 2 weeks and double and triple hook-ups will be abundant. You can expect 3 to 5 on an average day and 5 to 10 with a little bit of luck. Sailfishing right now is as good as it gets so give us a call and let’s go catch’em. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt.Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell or 772-288-1332 home

Bad to Worse

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing this past week was slower than expected with the Sailfish playin hide and seek and the dolphin on the small side. The weather was as good as it gets with calm seas and sunny skies but a nice day on the water is not a fishermans dream. I wasn’t on the water Thursday and Friday so the slow reports didn’t curtail my optimism,I always seem to find the fish and expected to be catching Sailfish and Dolphin as we have over the past 6 to 8 weeks. My clients had come down from South Carolina hopeing to spend the weekend catching Sailfish in the Sailfish Capital of the world. Saturday was the slowest day I can remember in recent weeks for all but a couple of private boats that managed to catch 3 Sailfish each less than a 1/2 mile away, we only managed to catch one small Dolphin and a couple of small sharks. Sunday I left the dock full of optimism because I knew it could only get better, I rarely have days like Saturday and it surely couldn’t happen 2 days in a row. Fishing to the north on Saturday didn’t pay off for us so we headed to the southeast to one of my favorite spots for Sailfish. Capt. VJ Bell on the charterboat Challenge who also bombed on Saturday did the same about 2 miles south of us. At about 10am there were a couple of sailfish caught up to the North and VJ hadn’t seen anything to the south either so we made a move. That’s when it went from bad to worse. Shortly before we got where I was going I blew a lower unit on 1 of the 2006 Yamaha 250 four strokes that power the Reel Busy. We were on a color change so we put the lines out, the conditions looked good with flying fish everywhere and frigit birds hovering above. Shortly after we set up VJ called me and told me he caught a Sailfish near where we had left, then called with another and shortly thereafter a double. The nice thing about having two high powered motors is that if one goes down we can travel at 20knts like most of the boats normally do so we picked up the lines and headed back south only to continue our frustration. There were a few more fish caught in the afternoon right there where we started out in the morning but the only luck we had was bad luck and we never got a shot. One of the most enjoyable things about running a boat like the Reel Busy is hooking people up with a fish they’ll always remember and there’s no worse feeling than not being able to get the job done no matter how hard you try. I know thats why they call it fishing but I sure hope I’m not forced to eat anymore humble pie for a while, I had a bellyfull this weekend. The Sailfish are here and there’s more to come so I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish capital of the world. Hit & Miss

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing this past week was slower than I expected but with a full moon overhead this week I should have seen it coming. The Sailfishing was hit & miss although we managed to catch at least one every trip. Today we caught one and had a couple of shots at the little ones but never got the hook set into the little guys. The Dolphin fishing was hit & miss as well with most of the Dolphin alot smaller than they were a couple of weeks ago, most of them only 3 to 5 pounds. The Kingfish are becoming more abundant and most of these fish are 5 to 10 pounds with a few 15 to 20 pounders in the mix. The Kingfish will be here for the next few months and the larger ones will become more abundant over the next several weeks. The brown bombers are starting to show up and they can be a reel pain in the.... The brown bombers are little brown sharks that are too small to fight and move around in little packs tearin up the baits. The full moon is moving out and the fishing should be excellent over the next few weeks so give us a call and Let’s go Fishin ! I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the world. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

The Little Ones

Hello Fish Fans, There’s always a few Sailfish lingering around the waters off the coast of Stuart Florida but the migration has begun and packs of little Sailfish are showing up. The first packs of Sailfish to show up during the migration are the little ones and they’re here. There’s a few big ones around leading the way but most of the Sailfish we’re catchin are 20 to 30 pounds. The boats that have not perfected circle hook ballyhoo rigs are jumpimg off more than they’re catching right now, most of them blaming it on the size of the fish instead of their rigging. Most of us old dogs are set in our ways but last year when circle hooks became mandatory in all Sailfish tournaments I needed to find the perfect circle hook ballyhoo rig and tried them all. I ended up combining two different styles of rigging techniques and the end result is a dead ballyhoo that swims like it’s alive and delivers a hook-up ratio that exceeds 90 percent. Live bait or dead bait doesn’t matter, the Reel Busy catches more Sailfish than most of the competition most of the time. Call the other guys if your lookin for a boat ride and a cabin to take a nap, but when you wanna catch Sailfish give us a call and we’ll hook you up. A slow day Sailfishing this time of year usually produces 1 or 2, a good day will produce 3 to 5. ***The sea conditions over the next few months can be a little bit sporty sometimes for those who aren’t used to being on the water. Many people take Dramamine to prevent motion sickness. STOP ! Dramamine turns most people into airheads too tired to enjoy themselves and prevents hurling less than 50% of the time. Pick up ginger tabs at the health food store, take 2 at bedtime and 2 first thing in the morning and go enjoy your day on the water. Ginger Ale will also help settle your stomach while your on the water.*** I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Taking Turns !

Hello Fish Fans, The first cold fronts of the year pushed thru over the last couple of weeks delivering lows around 60 and highs around 80. The Dolphin and the Sailfish seem to be taking turns delivering the action and there’s plenty of Kingfish around to take up the slack. The winds will be swinging around to the NE today and you can expect 3 to 5 or 4 to 6 foot seas most of the week, perfect conditions for Sailfishing. The Sailfishing off the coast of Stuart Florida is second to none, that’s what attracted me here a few years ago when I relocated from Islamorada. Sailfishing is my passion and for the next few months I expect to catch at least 2 or 3 everytime I leave the dock. I’d be lyin if I said we always catch’em but over the next few months we’ll have more days with more than 3 releases than we’ll have with 1 or less. The sailfish have started their migration to the south and they’ll be gathering along the coast of Stuart Florida. The Sailfish we’re catchin now will be moving around by themselves, pairs and small packs of 3 to 5. We’ll be catchin them 1 or 2 at a time and as these packs get larger doubles and triples are abundant. The ability to follow a fish completely around the boat is why the Reel Busy catches more Sailfish than the typical charter boat. Catching 1 at a time is great but catching 2 or 3 at a time is awesome. Give us a call, the Sailfish are waiting to dance with you. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell

Good News/Bad News

Hello Fish Fans, First the Bad News, Gale force winds and 12 to 14 foot seas kepted all the charter boats tied up to the dock this past week. The good news is the winds and seas are calming down and with a new moon this Friday you can expect red hot fishing for at least the next week. The fall tempertures have arrived with lows in the mid 60’s at night and highs in the lower 80’s during the day. I expect the fishing to be red hot this week for both Dolphin and Sailfish so call in sick or take the day off, the fish are waiting. The Dolphin and Sailfish should be stacked up along the 6 mile reef feeding on packs of Flying fish pushed into the reefs edge by the rough seas. Give me a call and we’ll go catch’em ! I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell or 772-288-1332 home

Hit or Miss

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing this past week was a hit or miss, good for the lucky ones and slow for the rest. The combination of a full moon on Thursday and a front backing up back over us on Friday I think played a major role in the slow down this weekend. We caught a few Dolphin but the Sailfish never paid us a visit. The Sailfishing I’m sure will pick back up and the Dolphin will continue to be around to pick up the slack when the Sailfish take their breaks. There’s been a few Wahoo being caught and they should continue to show up on a regular basis over the next few weeks. November is one of my favorite months of the year for fishing off the coast of Stuart. The tempertures begin cooling off and there’s a wide variety of fish just a few miles off the beach. We’ll be catching Sailfish, Dolphin, Kingfish, and Wahoo regularly and when the conditions are right the bottom fishing for Grouper and Mutton Snapper is excellent. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell or 772-288-1332 home

West Wind Slowdown

Hello Fish Fans, The offshore fishing here in Stuart over the last 3 to 4 weeks has been great but southwest winds put the breaks on yesterday. We managed to catch a Sailfish and a couple of Dolphin but after weeks of red hot fishing I was dissapointed. The winds swing around to west as a cool front approaches and a temporary slow down in the fishing usually occurs, they seem to get lockjaw. Oddly enough the best day Sailfishing on the Reel Busy this year was on a west wind, we caught 10 and lost a couple more. I told them when we left the dock not to expect too much due to the west wind and we spent more time catchin than fishin. The winds will be swinging back to normal later today and you can bet the fishing to turn back on when it does. We’re starting to see the little Sailfish that start moving in at the beginning of the Sailfish migration. Some of these Sailfish are only 5 to 10 pounds and it’s important that you don’t try to handle them by their bill because it’s very soft and not yet developed . The fishing will pick back up in the next day or so with Sailfish, Dolphin, Kingfish and Wahoo providing the action. Give us a call and let’s go catchem’. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 772-288-1332 home or 305-304-9049 cell

A Little Sporty !

Hello Fish Fans, The offshore fishing off the coast of Stuart Florida continues to be good to excellent with Dolphin and Sailfish providing the action. The past couple of weeks the Dolphin have been very cooperative on the Reel Busy but the Sailfish have been avoiding the Reel Busy. All that changed on Wednesday this week when my client wanted to put some Dolphin filets in the freezer. I didn’t even get all the baits out in the morning before we caught and released the first Sailfish, we ended up catchin 2 Sailfish and a couple of Dolphin on a 1/2 day morning trip. I wish we could have caught a few more Dolphin for him but anytime you catch a couple of Sailfish you’ve had a good trip. The wind began picking up yesterday and a it was a little sporty out there this morning with 5 to 7 foot seas. We managed to catch 1 Sailfish and 1 Dolphin in about an hour but only one of my clients was having a good time catchin fish, the other was chumming and lookin to get back to the dock. I wish we coulda stayed out and takin advantage of a red hot bite but the wind will be settling down over the next couple of days and I’m sure the fishing will continue to be excellent. I can arrange split charters for those of you that want to get out but don’t want to spend the money for the whole boat, give us a call and let’s go fishin. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell or 772-288-1332 home

Red Hot Dolphin Fishin

Hello Fish Fans, The Dolphin fishin off the coast of Stuart right now is Red Hot and with a new moon on the 10th, I expect it will continue like this for the next 2 weeks at least. Most of the Dolphin we’re catchin are 8 to 12 pounds and we’re catchin 15 to 20 pound dolphin on every trip. We’re catchin 10 to 15 Dolphin on every trip which stuffs 3 to 5 gallon bags full of Dolphin filets. Give us a call and let’s put some Dolphin filets in your freezer. The Sailfishin has been a little slower than I expected it would be with all the winds that have been pushing thru over the last 2 weeks. The Sailfish are scattered all over the ocean. One boat will catch one in 100 feet of water, another in 200 feet of water and I spoke with one boat that caught one in 600 feet of water the other day. You’ll need a little luck to catch one right now but if you get lucky you could catch 3 or 4, they’re here but scattered around. There’s plenty of Kingfish around cause they’re cutting me off 3 to 5 times a day but with all the Dolphin around we’re not trying to catch them. The Kingfish has razor blade teeth so if your not using wire they slice thru the mono like a hot knife thru butter but you’ll catch more Dolphin and Sailfish with mono than wire. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Sailfish/Dolphin/Tarpon

Hello Fish Fans, The offshore fishing right now is good to excellent with Dolphin and Sailfish providing the action. The Dolphin Fishin has been very consistant and you can expect 10 to 15 pounders on almost every trip. The action has been 5 to 6 miles offshore in 80 to 120 feet af water and as fall moves in the action will continue. The Sailfisin has been turning on and off, one day you’ll go out and catch 4 or 5 and the next day you’ll be lucky to see one. The first cool front is passing thru today with 30mph winds and 9 to 11 foot seas, I don’t mind 4 to 6 or even 6 to 8 foot seas but when it gets over 10 feet it’s not fishable, let alone fun. The wind and seas will be settling down in a few days and you can expect the fishing to be red hot when it does. The sloppy conditions will make it very tough for the fish to feed so when it settles down they’ll me on the hunt aggressively feeding. We haven’t been fishing for Kingfish with so many Dolphin and Sailfish around but we’ve been getting plenty of cut-offs so if you want to catch’em we can hook you up. This past week before the winds picked up the Tarpon were all along the beaches bustin up the bait and some of these fish are close to 150 pounds. The inter-coastal waterway and the inlets are teaming with Tarpon feeding on schools of mullet. October is a great time of year to spend a couple of days fishin the waters in and around Stuart catchin Sailfish, Dolphin and Tarpon. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Taking Turns

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing off the coast of Stuart remains excellent but everyday is an adventure into the unknown. The Dolphin and Sailfish seem to be taking turns feeding and you don’t who wants to play the game until you go. Yesterday and today the Sailfishing seem to slow down for most of us although there were a few caught and the Dolphin Fishing was excellent. I’ve caught Sailfish on almost every trip over the past few weeks but this weekend I couldn’t get away from the Dolphin. Today Murphy’s Law was in full effect for us and another charter boat, his party wanted to catch Dolphin and my party wanted to catch Sailfish. He caught 2 Sailfish while Dolphin fishin and never saw a Dolphin, we caught a dozen Dolphin and never saw a Sailfish. After speaking with him on the radio I ran 6 miles to where he was fishing and didn’t get the second bait in the water before hooking up another Dolphin. The winds picked up a little this past week and that pushed the Dolphin closer to shore so just a few miles off the beach you can expect to catch Dolphin, Sailfish, Kingfish and Wahoo. The inshore waters are teaming with Tarpon busting up the schools of mullet. The larger fish seem to be closer to the inlets but there’s Tarpon in the bays and rivers as well. I’ll be back next week with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Gotta Go Fishin !

Hello Fish Fans, Whether you do it in shore or offshore you gotta go fishin ! We had a great week this past week catchin Sailfish and Dolphin on our offshore trips and Tarpon and Snook on our inshore trips. The mullet run has started inshore so the finger mullet are comming thru by the thouands with Tarpon and Snook busting them up around the channels, bridges and inlets. Most of these Tarpon are 25 to 75 pounds but 100 pounders are always a possibility around the inlets and beaches. We’ve been using primarily Sardines for live bait offshore for the past 6 to 8 weeks but the Greenies are moving in and when that starts up the Sailfish start showing up in greater numbers as well. You can expect to catch at least one or two Sailfish if you target them right now with a few Kingfish and dolphin in the mix. Further off shore the Dolphin fishing is excellent with 7 to 10 pounders and 20 to 30 pound Dolphin are showin up almost every day. Give us a call take advantage of our 10% discount on offshore fishing charters thru September 30th, you’ll be glad you did. Great Time for Fishin !

Hello Fish Fans, This is a great time for a fishin trip to Stuart Florida. The fishin is excellent and we’re catchin them all right now; Dolphin, Sailfish, Kingfish, Grouper, Wahoo, Bonita, Tuna and Cobia. The fall transistion is underway and we’ll be catchin a wide varity of fish over the next 6 to 8 weeks. There’s so many Dolphin movin thru right now that even the party boats are catchin a few. The evening trips for Snook and Tarpon have also been very productive mixed with Snapper, Trout and Ladyfish. Give me a call and Let’s Go Fishin ! 10% Discount on all offshore trips this month so take advantage of great fishin and save a few bucks at the same time. Dolphin are Back

Hello Fish Fans, The offshore fishin this past week was about the same as it has been for the last 6 weeks with Kingfish and Bonita providing most of the action and the Sailfishin turnin on and off almost on a daily basis. The good news is the Dolphin fishin is pickin back up in the deeper waters of the Gulfstream. The weedlines are forming and debris is starting to move in from the hurricanes down in the carribean. The gulfstream currents will be bringing debris like wood, trees, pallots and other debis, most of these structures will be holding Dolphin and Wahoo. The Dolphin fishin has been reel slow for the last 6 weeks but should be excellent for the next 6 to 8 weeks especilally around the new moons during the middle of September and October. The Sailfish will begin showing up in greater numbers as fall moves in and the tempertures begin cooling down a little. I got out 1 night this week for the opening of snook season and caught a couple of Monster Snook, we had to let one go but we managed to squeeze one of them together enough to fit him into the 32" slot. The new slot for Snook is 28" minimum and 32" maximum so you need to get a little lucky to catch the keepers. I’ll be back next week with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the world. Catch you later, Capt. Knocked Off

Hello Fish Fans, The best bite this past week was last Sunday and I didn’t have a charter. While I was home wishin I was fishin the charter boat "Sunday" knocked us off the leader board at Pirates Cove. The "Reel Busy" held the top spot with 10 Sailfish releases since mid February and figured it was a lock till we start over in January 2008 or at least till Sailfish season returns in Novembe/December. Capt. Henry Otto who also relocated here from the keys got into a pack of Sailfish and realeased 11 to knock us off the leader board. The Sailfish are off the coast of Stuart year-round but during the summer months a good day is usually 3 to 5, 1 or 2 is more likely. The rest of the week was back to normal with a few Sailfish here and there and Bonita and Kingfish providing most of the action. The Tuna fishin off the corner is still going off, Yellowfin Tuna, Blackfin Tuna and Skipjack Tuna will provide a workout you’ll not soon forget. The Wahoo fishin should be good over the next couple of weeks as the full moon moves in, unlike Dolphin fishin which slows down around the full moon the Wahoo fishin turns on. The best bite for the Wahoo will be before 8am so you’ll need to get out early but it’s usually worth it. I’ll be back next week with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Unbelieveable

Hello Fishfans, The offshore fishing is about the same has it has been the last couple of weeks with Bonita and Kingfish providing most of the action. The Sailfishin slowed down early this week but picked back up the last couple of days, 1 or 2 on average and 3 or 4 for the lucky ones. The early part of the week brought west winds or no winds, neither of which is very condusive for good fishing but the end of the week the winds came around to the northeast and east which is probably why the fishing picked up. I took a shot and headed offshore looking for Dolphin last Tuesday and kept going and going and going til we came to the backside of the gulfstream 48 miles offshore and found the perfect weedline. The weeds were scattered a little bit due to the west winds and the flying fish were all stacked up along the edge. We trolled that edge for over 6 miles and it was unbelieveable, not even one knockdown. We fished 2 other current edges that should have been loaded with Dolphin and came up empty there as well. The best part of the day was 40 miles out in a huge school of Skipjack Tuna in the 12 to 18 pound class. These Tuna were really movin fast so everytime you caught one you had to catch up to them again but it was pretty awesome watchin them chase down sardines bustin up the water all around the boat. I suggest you think twice before going after Dolphin for at least the next couple weeks if your lookin for action, I don’t know where they’ve gone but we’ve found weedlines, boards, bamboo, birds and everything else you look for when Dolphin fishin and nobody’s home. I’ll be back next week with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wahoo Fever

Hello Fish Fans, I’ve got Wahoo fever and don’t expect it to go away anytime reel soon now that I know they’re waiting for me early in the morning. I told you last week I was hoping my clients were up to an early departure so we could check out the early morning Wahoo Bite, Tuesday it paid off big time with a 32.6 pound Wahoo. A Wahoo is shaped like a torpedo so a 32 pound Wahoo is about 5 feet long with a 25" girth. The Wahoo is the fastest fish in the ocean and there’s no doubt about it when it explodes on the scene and the reel starts screaming, it’s awesome. The Wahoo is also one of the best eating fish in the ocean. I’m not a big sushi fan but I’ll be eating Wahoo while I’m fileting it everytime, there’s none better so bring your favorite sushi sauce and lets go Wahoo fishin. The Bonita and Kingfish are still bending the rods and providing plenty of action with a few Sailfish putting on a show. The Sailfishin not as hot as it was a couple of weeks ago but there’s still a few around and you’ll could catch 1 or 2 if you put your time in. The Dolphin fishin should start picking up again soon and if my clients this week are up to heading out to the deep blue waters of the gulfstream I think we’ll find them. I don’t expect to see too many Dolphin close to shore for another month or so but they will return to the inside edge of the gulfstream over the 4 to 6 weeks , in the meantime you’ll need to go deep if you want to catch Dolphin and don’t be surpized if you have an encounter with a Blue Marlin while your out there, they’re lookin for Dolphin too. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Give me a call and Let’s Go Fishin ! Catch you later, Capt. Kinda Slow

Hello Fish Fans, The fishin this past week was kinda slow but the Kingfish and Bonita are still bending the rods. The Sailfishin went from hot to not almost overnight, I don’t know where they went but nobody’s seen them since last weekend. The fishin is usually a little slower around the full moon but it usually doesn’t effect the Sailfishin as much as it does Dolphin fishin. The new moon is on the 12th this month and we should start seeing more Dolphin than we have over the last couple of weeks. I hope to get an early start this week so we can try the early morning Wahoo bite. I’ll be back next week with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Plenty of Action

Hello Fish Fans, The Sailfishing slowed down a little this past week but we managed to catch a couple on every trip but one. I think there’s still plenty of them around but I think thery’re spread out a little more than they were. There’s still plenty of Kingfish and Bonita around but we didn’t see any big smoker kings this week, most of them we’re 5 to 10 pounds. I didn’t get to the deeper waters of the gulfstream this past week to see if the Dolphin are pushin through again but they didn’t show up in the near shore waters. I’ll probably wait another week and let the full moon pass before I venture out looking for Dolphin but they will start showing up again in greater numbers reel soon. The Wahoo bite should be good over the next week or 2 but you’ll need to get out early, the best bite will be around sunrise but there’s some 50 to 80 pounders out there so it’s well worth losin a little sleep. The night fishin for snook has been excellent around the inlet, on a trip last week we caught and released 17 snook in about 3 hours. I look forward to September 1st when the season opens again and we can keep’em, fried snook on a plate is one of my favorites. Good News / Bad News

Hello Fish Fans, The bad news is the Dolphin fishin has slowed to crawl this past week with a little bit of scattered weed but no reel weedlines for the Dolphin to travel on. The Dolphin are probably stacked up on the backside of the Gulfstream but you don’t know till you go and it’s an additional 200.00 a day so if your set on catchin Dolphin I would recommend the Tuna trip and catch’em on the way back. The good news is there’s plenty of action just a few miles off the coast. The Sailfishin was red hot this week from 50 to 100 feet of water and I expect this to continue for the week or two. I’m not sure but if I had to guess I would say the Sailfish are spawning off the coast of Stuart right now. They’re all over the place cutting up the surface of the water and when you hook up a Sailfish you may see one or two swimming around him but not eating. The Sailfish are so aggressive right now that even using short wire leaders for Kingfish doesn’t seem to bother them too much. The Sailfishing right now is almost as good as the winter months, catching 2 or 3 is can be expected and 4 or 5 is a reel possibility. The biggest problem right now is keeping your baits in the water long enough for a Sailfish to find them due to the abundance of Bonita. Most of these fish are 10 to 15 pounds and when a pack moves in on you all the rods go off with reels screaming. The Bonita puts on a great fight but the only thing there good for other than that is bait, Bonita strips are as good as a live bait for catchin Dolphin. The Kingfisin has been good with a few 30 to 40 pounders showing up in between the Sailfish and Bonita. The Wahoo fishin has been excellent and some of these fish are 50 to 60 pounds but you’ll need to get out early. The Wahoo bite will turn on at sunrise and last for an hour or two and then it’s over. Give us a call or your favorite charter boat and get in on the action, you’ll be glad you did. The Dolphin fishin has slowed down for now but everything else has turned on, Let’s Go Fishin ! I’ll be back next week with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell or 772-288-1332 home

Gotta Go Deep

Hello Fish Fans, The Dolphin fishin was slower than expected this past week but the Dolphin we caught were all 15 to 30 pounds. Last Tuesday we covered almost a hundred miles and never found any Dolphin big enough to catch but Saturday was better with 5 Big Dolphin. The Dolphin are out there and there’s some big ones but you gotta go deep, 1100 to 1500 feet of water or about 18 to 25 miles offshore. Staying closer to shore in 100 to 300 feet of water, you’ll be 5 to 10 miles offshore catchin Kingfish, Bonita and possibly a few Sailfish but there’s not to many Dolphin travellin around that close to shore right now. Full Moon Fishin

Hello Fish Fans, This past week was typical full moon fishin and westerly winds for most of the week made it even tougher. The Dolphin fishin slowed to a crawl but we found a good concentration of Dolphin in 1200 to 1500 feet of water which is about 18 to 20 miles offshore, 6 to 8 miles further offshore than we had been finding them in previous weeks. We didn’t find allot of them but they were all gaffers in the 10 to 20 pound range. The Kingfishin was pretty good in about 80 feet of water, most of these fish were 8 to 15 pounds but you better be ready to do battle with 10 to 15 pound Bonita cause they’re all over the edge. We tried a little drift fishin for Mutton Snapper along the edge one day this past week and caught a couple but the Bonita were so thick it was hard not to hook’em up on the way down. The full moon is behind us for another month and you can expect much better fishin over the next couple of weeks, Dolphin, Wahoo, Kingfish, Tuna, Sailfish and Bonita will be providing plenty of action. The yellowfin Tuna are hit and miss on the Tuna trip but 15 to 25 pound Blackfin Tuna are abundant right now and you can count on them to pull your arms off. We’re only booked for a few days each week over the next couple of weeks so give us a call and you’ll catch fish. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell or 772-288-1332 home

50 Minutes of Bull

Hello Fish Fans, I only got out twice since my last report before I took the kids to Disney but the Dolphin fishin is still excellent and I’m glad to be back. Last Tuesday was a trip I won’t soon forget and I’d be willing to bet my clients will never forget. We ran out to an area about 12 miles offshore thats been reel good to me over the last 2 or 3 weeks and found an old torn up life jacket floating in the gulfstream with a pack of 8 to 12 pound Dolphin hangin around it. We caught 6 or 7 reel nice Dolphin there and decided to keep trolling into the gulfstream current to get back to where we started out earlier that morning. There wasn’t any weedline but there was plenty of flying fish and where there’s bait there’s usually gonna be fish. We may have trolled for 20 or 30 minutes but it didn’t seem that long before the short rigger got slammed and a Big Bull Dolphin came shooting up in the air like he was fired from a canon. I knew as soon as I saw him he was at least 40 pounds and I began casting another bait around him trying to hook up a Big Cow Dolphin but after about 10 minutes I was convinced that this Bull was by himself so I cleared the lines and watched the show. On this day I had 3 anglers, Scott who was fighting the fish, one that had never been deep sea fishing before and one that was busy chumming if you know what I mean. This Bull Dolphin was getting the best of Scott and about 30 minutes into it he handed me the rod to rest for a moment. I’ve caught plenty of 40 pounders, a few 50 pounders and 1 60 pounder, I can tell you this fish was all of 50 pounds and 6 feet long. Scott only got to rest for a couple of minutes because a Sailfish went cruising past the back of the boat and I had to try and Hook him up, why I don’t know. We didn’t catch the Sailfish because a Big Cow Dolphin took the bait and the next thing you know I had 5 more Big Dolphin hooked-up between the other 2 anglers while Scott was still fighting his Big Bull. We boated all the other Dolphin but after 50 minutes when it looked like the Big Bull was finished and doing circles 10 feet below the boat, Scott had a little too much muscle left for the freying 80 pound leader and the Big Bull got away to fight another day. I’ve never had a Dolphin wear through 80 pound leader with 20 pound tackle but the next time we hook-up with a Big Bull Dolphin he’ll have to chew through 100 pound leader to avoid me and the gaff. I’ll be back next week with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Give me a call and let’s go fishin ! Summer Surprize

Hello Fish Fans, The Dolphin fishing sputtered a bit this past week because we had several days of west winds which disrupted the formation of weedlines. The weedlines usually form up in a north to south direction providing a foodchain for the Dolphin to travel up and down the gulfstream feeding on the baitfish that hide in the weeds for protection. The west winds move these lines to an east to west direction scattering the Dolphin, they want to go north and south so they end up zig zagging the ocean making it much more difficult to locate them. We still found them but not as many and we spent more time looking than catchin, we still had days with 15 to 20 but we also had days with 5 to 8. The good news is the weedlines were forming up reel nice yesterday afternoon and it looks like things will get back to normal this week. The summer suprize has been the abundance of Sailfish off the coast of Stuart this past week and they were popping up everywhere from 80 feet of water to 600 feet of water. We usually get a big push of Sailfish for a couple of weeks in July but it looks like they’ll be here earlier and possibly longer this year. The Sailfish are migrating to the north looking for cooler water for the summer. The water temperature in the gulfstream right now is about 84 degrees give or take and thats a little too warm to keep the Sailfish happy. July is one of the best months of the year to target Blue Marlin off the coast of Stuart and the small schooley dolphin that are starting to move in are their favorite food. July is also an excellent time to spend the evening drifting the gulfstream for Swordfish, 1 to 3 will be hooked-up on almost every trip. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World ! Dolphin & Wahoo

Hello Fish fans, The Dolphin fishin continues to be excellent off the coast of Stuart in 600 to 800 feet of water providing catches of 20 to 30 Dolphin on every full day trip. Dolphin fishin on the Reel Busy this time of year is an experience you’ll never forget. We head offshore at 30 to 40 mph lookin for weedlines, birds and debris so we don’t troll you to sleep. When we find what we’re lookin for we’ll put out the lines and troll up a couple of Dolphin, that’s when Islamorada Style kicks in. While keeping the boat in gear we don’t bring any fish closer than 15 or 20 feet from the boat which keeps the whole school of Dolphin travelling with us. The open style Contender with rod holders all around the boat allows us to keep hookin-up fish with light tackle spinners till we get 6 or 8 of them hooked-up up at the same time. Once we get all the rods hooked-up we start bringing them in one at a time and hookin-up another before the next one is boated, it gets pretty wild but 15 or 20 Dolphin is a no-brainer this time of year if you know how to play the game. On a 1/2 day trip yesterday we got lucky in 700 feet of water and found a red bouy can that had broken loose from somewhere and was drifting in the Gulfstream, we caught 2 Wahoo and lost 2 more to go with the 10 Dolphin we had in the box. The next 7 to 10 days the Dolphin fishin will continue to be as good as it gets so give me a call and we’ll hook you up with a box load of Dolphin and have a great time doing it. The seas are calm and the fishin is great so I’ll be back next week with another excellent fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. The Bite is On !

Hello Fish Fans, The winds and seas have finally laid down and the Dolphin fishin is as good as it gets. The weedlines are forming up and we’re catchin 15 to 25 Dolphin on every full day trip, most of the Dolphin are 5 to 10 pounds with a few in the 15 to 25 pound range. The new moon is on the 14th this month and the Dolphin fishin will remain excellent for the next 2 weeks. The Dolphin is the fastest growing fish in the ocean and when they can’t feed by the moonlight they feed aggressively all day long. There’s a few Sailfish around so if you put your time in you can expect to catch a couple. Now’s the time to pack that freezer so give me a call and let’s go catch’em. I’ll be back next week with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters cell 305-304-9049 or 772-288-1332 home

Time to Fish !

Hello Fish Fans, Another week of gusty winds and rough seas but it’s all settling down this week and it’s time to fish. The TCBA Fishing Tournament is one of the biggest tournaments in Florida with over 500,000.00 in cash and prizes was canceled again this week and post-poned to next weekend. Normally held on Memorial Weekend every year this years back to back cancelations was a first. The good news is by Wednesday this week the winds and seas will get back to normal, 5 to 10 mph winds and 2 to 3 foot seas. I don’t ever remember being stuck at the dock for 3 weeks in a row during the month of May but I guess there’s a first time for everything. I can’t wait to get out this week, the Dolphin fishing should be red hot all along the coast of Stuart. These 20 to 30 mph easterly winds will push packs of Dolphin just off the coast and you can bet they’ll be a feeding frenzie going on. The bait gets so scattered about with 8 to 10 foot seas and you can bet the Dolphin haven’t had an easy time keeping up with their appetite. The offshore fishing the next couple of weeks should be as good as it gets all along the east coast of Florida so give us a call or your favorite charter service and take advantage of some of the best offshore fishing of the year. We’ll be catchin Dolphin, Sailfish, Blue Marlin, Wahoo and Kingfish. The Yellowfin Tuna fishing should be excellent for those who venture out to the corner, it’s about a 75 mile run from stuart but with calm seas and the speed of the Reel busy it’s easily done and usually well worth the trip this time of year. I’ll be back next week with a great fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the world. Catch you later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell or 772-288-1332 home

Total Blowout !

Hello Fish Fans, I wish I could give you a fishin report but I can’t, this week was a total blowout. The wind blew at 20 to 30 mph all week long and continues as I write this report. The seas have been runnin 8 to 12 feet, choppy and sloppy. The winds started layin down a little yesterday, 15 to 20 mph with 5 to 7 foot seas and the next few days 4 to 6 foot seas can be expected. I don’t know where all this wind is coming from but 2007 has been the windiest year I can remember, it lays down for a day or so and then starts crankin again. Hopefully the wind will continue to lay down as the week goes on and I’ll be back with a fishin report next week from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Windy Conditions

Hello Fish Fans, The wind just keeps on Blowin bustin up the weedlines and scattering the Dolphin. We’re catchin Big Dolphin 15 to 35 pounds on almost every trip but we’re not catching the numbers we usually do. All we need is the wind to take a break and settle down, yesterday the wind was blowin at 20 to 25 out of the northeast and when that meets up with the northbound gulfstream current it creates a washing machine effect, 6 to 8 foot seas with a few 10 footers at no extra charge. The wind must have noticed that most of the charter boats were at the dock today so it took a break and the seas settled down a little but the forcast has them building back up for the next few days. It looks like things will start returning to normal this weekend and on into next week, the forecast has the wind beginning to drop by Friday, we’ll see. The Sailfishing has been excellent for this time of year, you’ll probably catch 2 or 3 if you target them right now. The Tarpon should begin migrating up the beach over the next couple of weeks, there’s been a few around but the best is yet to come. June, July and August is prime time for Tarpon fishing along the beaches and inlets in the Stuart area. I’ll be back next week with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell 772-288-1332 home

Hit or Miss

Hello Fish Fans, This past week started out un-fishable with 12 t0 14 foot seas on Monday, 10 to 12 on Tuesday and 8 to 10 on Wednesday. We finally got out on Thursday morning and the conditions continued to improve the rest of the week. The heavy seas and west winds scattered the Dolphin around so it was a hit or miss, you either had a great day or you struggled to catch a few. The Sailfishing remains excellent for this time of year, there’s so many Sailfish around that we’re catchin 1 or 2 when we’re Dolphin fishing. Today should be the last day of west winds so as the week goes on I expect the Dolphin fishing to improve, the weedlines will reform and the Dolphin will be more concentrated around them. The Wahoo never showed up in numbers this year and during a Dolphin, Kingfish, Wahoo tournament this past weekend not even 1 of the 310 boats fishing the tournament weighed in a Wahoo. The new moon is this Wednesday so the offshore fishing for Sailfish and Dolphin should be excellent for the 10 days or so but if you want to target the Blue Marlin the first week in June and July will be prime time, the Blue Marlin are the most aggressive around the full moon. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell Let’s Go Fishing !

Better than Expected

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing this past week was better than expected, the Dolphin fishing slowed down as it always does around the full moon but the Sailfish showed up to save the day. The only day this week that we caught over 10 Dolphin was today but for the next 2 to 3 weeks I would expect at least 10 or 12 on a daily basis. There’s alot of Dolphin in the 15 to 20 pound range showing up and over the next few weeks 25 to 40 pounders will be more abundant. Large schooly Dolphin in the 7 to 10 pound range are starting to show up in numbers and with the new moon on the way these fish will be eating everything in their path, you gotta love it. The Reel Busy has 7 or 8 days still available between the 10 and 25th this month so give me a call and let’s pack that freezer with Dolphin filets. Nobody catches more Dolphin than the Reel Busy but if you want a bigger boat with an air conditioned cabin to ride around in give me a call and I’ll hook you up with the best competition available. The big surprize this past week was the abundance of sailfish cruising around the Stuart area, we can usually catch 1 or 2 year-round but right now 3 or 4 is very possible with a little bit of luck. The Wahoo fishing has been slower than normal this year but with all the Dolphin/Wahoo/Kingfish Tournaments this month I’m sure a few more will find there way to the fishbox. The next couple of days will not be fishable with seas running 12 to 14 feet but as the week goes on we’ll get out and I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Tough Week

Hello Fish Fans, The week started out great with alot of big Dolphin, 25 to 40 pounders seem to be everywhere but as the week went on it became reel tough to put a good catch together. The gulfstream currents were screaming along at 4 to 5 knots and everyday the moon was getting bigger and bigger. The wind has switched around again which should slow the currents down to normal but with a full moon May 2nd this week you’ll need to catch’em early, by mid day you can expect the fishing to slow down until late afternoon when the Dolphin start feeding again. May 10th to the 25th will be some of the best Dolphin fishing of the year for those of you that want to catch Big Dolphin in the 25 to 50 pound class. The Blue Marlin fishing off the coast of stuart is excellent this time of year and will be throughout the summer months. The full moons may not be the best time for Dolphin fishing but Blue Marlin fishing is always better around the full moon. There’s still quite a few Sailfish around and if you put your time in you’ll probably catch a couple, you’ll need to be patient but you’ll catch’em. The conditions have prevented us from searching out the Yellowfin Tuna on the backside of the gulfstream but we’re catching a few Blackfin Tuna and Skipjack Tuna while runnin and gunnin for Dolphin. The Reel Busy is the top boat in the Stuart Area when it comes to Dolphin fishing because of the run and gun style perfected in the years spent in Islamorada. Nobody will put you on more Dolphin than the Reel Busy so give me a call and let’s go get’em. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Big Dolphin

Hello Fish Fans, The waters off the coast of Stuart and Jupiter are teaming with Big Dolphin right now between 20 and 40 pounds. The weedlines are scattered around and so are the fish but overall the Dolphin fishing was excellent this past week. These Big Dolphin should be around for the next 3 to 5 weeks and a 30 to 40 pound Bull Dolphin on the end of your line is an awesome sight. The Big Bull Dolphin jumps out of the water with much more attitude than a smaller dolphin, he stands up on top of the water and challenges you to a fight. I’ve got a few open days this week so if you want to catch one of these monsters, now’s the time to give me a call and make it happen. There still seems to be plenty of Sailfish around, we caught a couple this week while trolling for dolphin on the weedlines so targeting them would probably produce 2 or 3 if you put your time in. The kingfish have moved in and some of these fish are in the 40 pound class. I love this time of year, there’s lots of big fish around and the weather is perfect, not too hot and not too cool. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell 772-288-1332 home

April Cold Fronts ?

Hello Fish Fans, I can’t believe cold fronts are pushng through in the middle of April, go away already. During the spring and summer months the winds are generally out of the southeast and the gulfstream currents form weedlines that are teaming with Dolphin. These cold fronts bring with them strong winds out of almost every dirrection breaking up the weedlines and scattering the fish. The fishing this past week was hit and miss but we caught several Dolphin in the 20 to 35 pound range and it’s always great when your catching the big ones. The Sailfish are scattered all over the place, this past week we caught them in 120 feet like normal but caught one in 600 feet of water and another in 1200 feet of water while trolling a current edge for Dolphin. There’s another cold front pushing through today with clocking winds once again, the winds are blowing 20 to 35 mph and you can bet the weedlines that had startted looking reel good on Saturday will once again be blown apart. There’s alot of Big Dolphin cruising around the gulfstream right now and will be for the next 4 to 6 weeks. The deeper waters of the gulfstream from 800 to 1200 feet is 15 to 20 miles off the coast of Stuart and this time of year these current edges will be holding Dolphin, Wahoo and the grand daddy of them all; the Blue Marlin. We caught the first Blue Marlin in April last year and continued to catch them throughout the summer months. Blue Marlin love to feed on Dolphin so when you find a big school of Dolphin there’s usually a Blue Marlin near by just waiting to play the game. The fishing will probably remain hit and miss over the next several days with the passing of this front but the fishing will be red hot as soon as the weather patterns get back to normal, hopefully reel soon. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 Let’s Go Fishing !

Take your pick !

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing slowed a little during the full moon but it’s gone now and the fishing is excellent. Springtime fishing off the coast of Stuart Florida provides a variety of fish that is second to none. The Sailfishing has slowed down but if you put your time in you can expect to catch 1 or 2 on most days and this time of year most of them will be big fish in the 50 to 75 pound range. The Cobia fishing is as good as it gets and should be for the next few weeks. Cobia in the 30 to 50 pound range are being caught on a daily basis hanging around the reefs, wrecks, turtles and rays. The Kingfish are showing up in greater numbers and we’re seeing more big kings in the 30 to 40 pound range. The bottom fishing has been good but the sea conditions have been a little to sporty to be comfortable anchored up. The Dolphin fishing has been pretty good considering we had a full moon this past week with 30 to 40 pounders starting to show up. The Dolphin fishing will be excellent over the next six weeks with a slow down around the first week of May and June due to the full moon. The Dolphin is the fastest growing fish in the ocean because they’re like a feeding machine cruising the gulfstream waters eating everything in their path, even each other. The Dolphin fishing slows down a little around the full moon cause they can eat 24 hours a day but as the full moon moves on they tend to feed all day long cause they can’t feed as well in the darkness. Nobody catches more Big Dolphin than "Reel Busy" and "Quit Yer Bitchin" so give us a call and we’ll hook you up. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell

Slow fishin, Nice Catch

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing overall this past week was on the slow side but as the full moon passes the fishing should get going again. Although the fishing was slow there were alot of nice fish caught, 37 pound Cobia and Dolphin 25 to 35 pounds. The wind has finally settled down a little and the Cobia are starting to be more abundant, we’ve caught at least 1 or 2 the last 3 days. The Sailfishing has slowed down to a crawl on most days but it’s still possible to catch 1 or 2, if your patient you just might get lucky. The Dolphin fishing was hit and miss last week as well, if you got lucky you caught a few nice fish but overall there wasn’t much to it. The Dolphin fishing almost always slows down on the days surrounding the full moon so we should see alot more Dolphin by early next week. The month of April offers a wide variety of fish to target, Dolphin, Cobia, Sailfish, Kingfish, Blue Marlin, Swordfish and Wahoo. Let’s Go Fishin ! Catch you later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Going Nuts

Hello Fish Fans, I’m going nuts sitting around waiting for the wind to stop blowing. The winds been blowing 20 to 30 since my last report with seas running 7 to 10 foot and choppy. All the charter boats have been tied to the dock this past week and the ones that did venture out wished they hadn’t. When it gets this snotty it’s just not any fun and it doesn’t matter how big the boat is, it’s just not fishable. The good news is the winds will start settling down over the next couple of days so by later in the week the fleet should be catchin fish once again. A Little Sporty

Hello Fishfans, The seas this past week were what I like to call a little sporty at 3 to 5 and 4 to 6 for most of the week. The fishing overall this past week was on the slow side but we managed to catch a couple of Sailfish on most trips this week with Big Bonita,Dolphin or small sharks. The Dolphin fishing was on and off this past week but if yesterday is any indication the Dolphin are back in pretty good numbers. The cold front that pushed through this past week will provide a good Sailfish bite over the next week and if your ready to catch a few Sailfish and Dolphin give us a call and we’ll hook you up. The north winds and the currents pushing up from the south can provide a tailing condition for both Sailfish and Dolphin. When this occurs you’ll actually see the fish rideing down the waves, you can pitch them a bait or troll you baits right into their path, it’s pretty awesome. The Sailfishing should remain good for the next couple of weeks and the Dolphin fishing will get better and better every week for the next 4 to 6 weeks. There’s plenty of Cobia in town and when the seas settle down you can run down the beach looking for the Big Rays and Turtles. The Cobia hang around under them just waiting for you to flip them a bait and bring’em home for dinner. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Give us a call and Let’s Go Fishing ! Beautiful Days

Hello Fishfans, This past week was filled with beautiful days with lows in the 60’s, highs near 8o, steady breezes and mild seas. The fishing was every bit as good as the conditions with most days producing 10 to 15 Dolphin per trip with 1 or 2 Sailfish in the mix. The Sailfishing has slowed down a little but there’s still plenty of Sailfish off the coast of Stuart and it’s still possible to catch 4 or 5 Sailfish if you get lucky. The Dolphin fishing is as good as I’ve ever seen it this early in the year and if this is any indication of whats to come you can expect some awesome dolphin fishing this spring. The next week or two should be about the same as this past week so if your looking to catch Sailfish, Dolphin, Wahoo, Grouper, Cobia or King and Spanish Mackerel give me a call and I’ll hook you up. April and May is a great time for those of you that wanna do some Big Game fishing for Yellowfin Tuna, Blue Marlin, Big Wahoo and Dolphin. The Yellowfin Trip does it all, we leave the dock at 5am and return between 5pm an 6pm. We begin targeting the Yellowfin Tuna off the coast of the Bahamas around sunrise which is 40 to 50 miles off the coast of Stuart. When the Tuna bite shuts down we switch over to looking for Dolphin, Wahoo and Blue Marlin. The full day trip leaves at 7am and returns between 3pm and 4pm. The run and gun style of the Reel Busy and Quit Yer Bitchin is the reason we consistantly catch more Big Dolphin, Wahoo and Blue Marlin. The choice is yours, you can put’em out n’ pray with another charter service or go runnin and gunnin with Reel Busy Charters and catch more fish. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Captain Wayne Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell 772-288-1332 home

Springtime Fishing

Hello Fishfans, Spring is moving in and that means a wide variety of fish to choose from. The Sailfishing this past week was day to day, one day you’ll catch 4 or 5 and the next day you’ll be lucky to catch 1 or 2. The bait schools are thick off the coast of Stuart and as long as the bait stays piled up like this the Sailfishing will continue to be good. The Dolphin fishing has been good and over the next 4 to 6 weeks it will get better and better. The past couple of fronts have stalled out bringing westerly winds for days at a time but as spring moves in the winds will stabilize to the east/southeast. The east/southeast winds will allow the weedlines to start forming up and when they do the Dolphin fishing will be excellent for the weeks and months to come. The Cobia are starting to move in cruising around the Reefs under the Turtles and Rays. Dolphin up to 25 pounds and Cobia up to 37 pounds were caught this week and bigger ones are on the way. The bottom fishing has been improving and Grouper up to 25 pounds are being caught on a regular basis. Light tackle fishing for Spaniash Makerel has been excellent providing lots of action from the St. Lucie Inlet to Pecks Lake. Most of these fish are in the 3 to 5 pound class but 7 to 10 pounders are consistantly showing up. The fishing overall this past week was excellent excluding Saturday when they seemed to get lockjaw as a fast moving front was sliding through. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Sailfish, Dolphin, Wahoo, Kingfish, Cobia, Tuna and Blue Marlin, We catch’em all! Let’s Go Fishing !

Hello Fishfans, The fishing this past week off the coast of Stuart Florida was excellent once again. The Sailfishing is starting to slow down but we still managed to catch 1 or 2 on most days and 4 on two different days. The Sailfish are moving down the coast in packs so when you get into them multiple hook-ups are plentiful but the bite is on and off so you’ll need to be persistant if you want to catch’em. The Dolphin fishing is off to a great start, it’s a little early to expect double digit catches but we did catch 18 between 5 and 10 pounds on Saturday. The Cobia are starting to show up along the reefs and under the turtles and manta rays moving around between Stuart and Ft. Pierce. The fishing and the weather conditions this past week were as good as it gets but today we cut the day short. The winds kicked up to about 25mph bringing with it a 4 to 6 foot sloppy sea and the fish seemed to be on holiday. Springtime fishing will be moving in over the next 30 days and you can expect the Sailfishing to start slowing down and the Dolphin fishing will start turning on. I love to catch and release Sailfish but after 2 or 3 months of catch and release the preditor in me is ready to kill some fish. For those of you that want to eat what you catch your gonna love fishing on the Reel Busy in March. We’ll be catching Dolphin, Wahoo, Cobia or Kingfish on a daily basis and when the conditions are condusive we’ll be catchin Yellowfin Tuna off the coast of the Bahamas. Give us a call and let’s go fishing ! I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Sweet Valentine

Hello Fish Fans, The Sailfishing this past week was excellent between the fronts but Valentines Day was one sweet valentine. The bait pods were close to shore in 40 to 50 feet of water but they were moving around so fast they were really hard to catch. I started putting out the lines as we caught bait and almost immediately hooked-up a double header. We caught a few more baits and soon after we caught another Sailfish. I bet we didn’t have more than a dozen baits in the well the entire day but almost evry bait we caught turned into a Sailfish. We kept working the same area and a little while later with the last 4 baits in the well we caught a triple, it’s absolutely nuts when you’ve got 3 Sailfish dancing all around the boat while we try to fique out which one we can catch first. We found another little pod of bait and put another dozen in the well. We put out the lines and it didn’t take long before a pack of Sailfish ambushed us and we hooked-up 3 of the 4 Sailfish that attacked our baits. While 3 of my 4 anglers were fighting their fish I put out another line for the 4th angler to watch and sure enough we hooked-up a 4th Sailfish while I was releasing the first, it just doesn’t get any better than that, you gotta love it. We ended up catching 10 out of the 12 Sailfish we hooked-up on Valentines Day and the Reel Busy is once again the top boat for Sailfish releases in a day at pirates Cove Resort and marina, How Sweet it is. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell or 772-288-1332 home

Gotta Love It !

Hello fish Fans, The fishing off the coast of Stuart Florida has been second to none. The Sailfish are balling up bait just off the beach in 40 to 60 feet of water providing catches of 3 to 5 Sailfish a day and if your the lucky boat you could see 7 to 10, you gotta love it. The Sailfishin is great and the Dolphin fishing is just as good and if that wasn’t enough the Kingfish and Cobia are moving in as well. The bait that started pushing through over the last week or two should have been here over 6 weeks ago and with a little bit of luck the Sailfisng could continue to be excellent on into March this year. The Dolphin have been moving down the current edges in packs eating everything they see. Today we tried to fish the color change hoping to catch a few sailfish but packs of Dolphin forced us to move. We caught 9 nice Dolphin in about an hour or so and moved into about 50 feet of water and caught 3 Sailfish. The fish are hear and you should be too so give us a call and let’s catch fish. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell 772-288 1332 home

Good, Bad and Ugly

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing this past week was just like the weather, there were good days, bad days and flat out ugly days. There’s allot of Sailfish and Dolphin in town and on the good days it was red hot but when the weather turned ugly it was bad news for the fishing report. As these cold fronts approach the winds start swinging arround to the south and when the wind starts blowing out of the southwest and west the fishing shuts down. The cold fronts usually pass through within 24 hours but these fronts lately seem to linger arround and screw us up for a couple of days. The good days provided some excellent catches on the charter boats this week like 8 Sailfish releases, 1 boat caught a 65 pound Wahoo this week and everybody’s catchin lots of Dolphin. Today and tomorrow doesn’t look good but the rest of the week looks great and you can bet the fishing will be excellent. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell

Winter Moves In

Hello Fish Fans, The weather patterns over the last 2 months hasn’t been winter-like at all with only 2 days registering tempertures under 50 degrees but it seems like winter’s moving in. The front that’s pushing through last night and today will be sending tempertures down to 48 tonight and 44 tomorrow night. The sailfishing overall has been good to excellent over the last 2 months but we haven’t seen the fantasy days of 10 or 15 releases in a day like we normally do here in the winter months. I may be wrong but I believe our best days of Sailfishing will be in February this year due to the lack of cold fronts pushing bait down the coast of Florida. I expect that this week will be about the same as last week, the average day should produce 1 to 3 Sailfish and 5 or 6 Dolphin with Bonita, Kingfish and Wahoo in the mix. These back to back cold fronts we’re getting should provide a new push of sailfish down the coast and by the second week in February the Sailfishing should get red hot for 2 or 3 weeks and keep us in the Sailfish on into March. Stuart Florida is only 90 minutes from Dolphin Stadium so if your visiting South Florida for the Superbowl, treat yourself to a day of sportfishing with Reel Busy Charters and catch fish. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 772-288-1332 or 305-304-9049 cell

Palm Beach to Stuart...

Hello Fish Fans, The Sailfishing from Palm Beach to Stuart has been good to excellent, most days are providing 3 ot 4 hook-ups but when you get into a migrating pack you could see 8 to 10 Sailfish hook-ups in a day. A slow day is providing 1 or 2 hook-ups but we’re catchin Dolphin as well on most trips. Sailfish, Dolphin, Kingfish, Wahoo and Bonita are providing plenty of offshore action and with the seas settling down a little it’s a great time to get out and catch some fish. This is a great time of year for Live Bait Kite Fishing and it’s an awesome way to fish. The live bait is kept on the surface of the water by running your line through a release clip on the kite line, this keeps the bait swimming and splashing on the surface. The line releases from the clip when the Sailfish eats and begins swinng away, you start winding and the show begins, you gotta love it. I’ll be back next week with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell

Red Hot Sailfishin !

Hello fish fans, The latest cold front pushed through on Monday and slowed the fishin down to a crawl but since Thursday the Sailfishin has been red hot. The best day we had this past week was 5 Sailfish with a few Dolphin for the dinner plate but there were a couple of boats that caught 8 and 9. The big push we’ve been waiting for is finally here but it’s about a month late. The weather patterns this year have been weird, we’ve only had 2 days this winter with tempertures below 50 degrees which seems to have slowed the Sailfish migration. The Sailfish this time of year are usually pushin to the south but this year they seem to goin south one week and goin north the next. These conditions should keep the Sailfish drifting up and down the southeast coast of Florida and hangin around the Stuart area for an extended period of time. The Dolphin fishin continues to be excellent just a few miles off the beach in the acres of flying fish stacked up along the current edges. The Blue water edge is still producing some nice Wahoo up to 50 pounds but most are in the 10 to 20 pound range. There’s a few Kingfish around and over the next 3 to 4 weeks there will be alot more showin up. The sea conditions have been on the sporty side but when the fishin’s this good it’s worth puttin up with the chop. I’ll be back next week with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Give us a call and let’s go fishin ! 38# Bull Dolphin

Hello Fish Fans, The conditions this week were more like springtime than winter and the fishin slowed down close to shore as the week progressed. Saturday was a picture perfect day, calm seas and sunny skies, a charter captains nightmare, it’s so nice you just know the fish are gonna take the day off. We started off on the 6 mile where we’ve been catchin Sailfish, Dolphin, Wahoo, Bonita and Kingfish and nobody was home. We decided to head offshore to the deep blue waters of the gulfstream like springtime or summertime fishin and it paid off. We found a weedline and caught a few Dolphin in the 8 to 10 pound range but we needed pitch rods so I took two bait rods with 12 lb. test and rigged them up and proceeded down the weedline. We came accross a pack of nice Dolphin and hooked up a pair on the 12 lb. pitch rods. The first one boated was almost 20 pounds and after about 30 minutes we boated a 38.9 lb. Bull Dolphin, that’s a hell of a fish on 12 pound test. As we get closer to the new moon which is the 18th this month the offshore fishin will be excellent. January 15th,16th and 17th is still open so if you want to catch Sailfish,Dolphin,Wahoo or Kingfish give us a call and we’ll hook you up. HAPPY NEW YEAR !

Happy New Year Fish Fans, Thanks to all of you that fished with us over this past year, it was a pleasure catchin fish with you. The conditions over the past few weeks has been moderate to rough on most days but the fishing has been good to excellent. The cold fronts are pushin through about every 5 or 6 days changing the wind direction and sea conditions every couple of days. The North winds provide more Sailfish and on the east to southeast winds we’re catchin more Dolphin. Sailfish, Dolphin, Kingfish and Wahoo will be plentifull throughout the winter months. The bottom fishing for Grouper and Snapper will be excellent over the 6 to 8 weeks on the days that conditions are favorable. The 2007 fishin reports will be posted on a weekly basis this year, compiled from the fishing fleet at Pirates Cove Marina and Reel Busy Charters. When your ready to catch Sailfish, Dolphin, Wahoo, Grouper, Swordfish, Blue Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, Cobia, Kingfish or Sharks, give us a call and we’ll hook you up. Let’s Go Fishin ! HAPPY HOLIDAYS !

Hello Fish Fans, Happy Holidays from "REEL BUSY" and "QUIT YER BITCHIN" ! Don’t even think about visiting Florida without spending a day catchin fish with Reel Busy Charters or your favorite charter boat, the fishin off the coast of Stuart Florida is excellent this time of year. Sailfish, Dolphin and Kingfish are consistantly providing lots of action with the occassional Wahoo as a bonus. The next 30 days is prime time for catchin Sailfish and there’s nothing more exciting than catchin Sailfish on light tackle, they go absolutely nuts when they’re hooked up tailwalkin, flipin and jumpin. We have several available dates during the next 2 weeks so give us a call and catch fish. The second leg of the Sailfish Championship was won by "Boneshaker", we’re still in contension for the championship but we’ll need to finish 1st or 2nd in the last leg of the series to win it. The Bite isOn !

Hello Fish Fans, The Sailfish are here and the bite is on! The Sailfishin has been gettin better and better over the last 10 days with a few packs showin up. The hot boat in the last 2 tournaments was "Flo Control" who won both the Quickie and Pirates Cove Sailfish Tournament, when your hot your hot. "Quit Yer Bitchin" tied for 3rd in the Quickie and ended up in 5th in the Pirates Cove Tourny. Right now we’re in the middle of the Stuart Sailfish Club Light Tackle Tournament and we’re tied for 3rd in the Treasure Coast Sailfish Championship Series. The fishin off the coast of Stuart right now is excellent, Sailfish, Dolphin, Kingfish and Wahoo are providing lots of action. The fronts have been comin through at least once a week so the seas have been a little sporty, 2 to 4 before the front and 6 to 8 behind it. We’ve fished almost everyday since my last report and we’ve caught Sailfish and Dolphin on every trip and Wahoo or Kingfish on most. Give us a call and let’s go fishin, you’ll be glad you did. Tournament Time !

Hello Fish Fans, Sailfish season is here and that means tournament time. We’ll be fishin three sailfish tournaments in the next two weeks, The Quickie at Finest Kind Marina, The Pirates Cove Sailfish Classic and The Stuart Sailfish Club’s light Tackle Invitational. I’ll let you know how it goes in my next report. The sailfishin has been good, most boats gettin one or two with a couple of boats each day gettin three or four. The Dolphin and Kingfish have been providing plenty of action while waitin for the Sailfish to pop up. The winds been blowin hard now for over a week but it looks like it’s gonna settle down over the next few days. The seas have been on the sporty side,ok for some but too much for others. Today I was fishin with a father and son team, as usual dad was whooped by a twelve year old. When Sailfishin with kids you always hope for a nice little Sailfish, one that will go nuts and put on a show but not that powerfull,of course it never works out that way. Today Lee Howard caught a Sailfish estimated between 75 and 85 pounds on a 20 pound spinning rod. I don’t usually bring a sailfish into the boat but this time I had to, I had to get a picture of Lee and his monster Sailfish, I hope to add it to the website when I recieve it. Wanna catch Sailfish ? Now’s the time to pick a Dec/Jan date and visit Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World ! I"ll be back in about 2 weeks with another fishin report and I’ll let you know who got hot for the tournaments. Catch you Later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Good Bite !

Hello Fish Fans, The Sailfish have finally arrived in decent numbers and the bite is good, we’re catchin at least one or two on every trip and it won’t be much longer we’ll expect to catch at least three to five. The typical catch right now is 1 or 2 Sailfish with 3 to 5 Dolphin, a few sharks and a Kingfish or 2. This is a great time of year for fishin off the coast of Stuart Florida, the weather is great and the sportfish are eager to please. We’re gonna have days we’ll catch 5 to 10 Sailfish on trips during the coming weeks and if you want to catch Sailfish it’s time to get’r done. I look foward to some great reports as the Sailfish season moves in, I’ll be back in about 10 days with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Still Waiting

Hello Fish Fans, We’re still waiting for the big push of Sailfish off the coast of Stuart but they’ll be showing up anytime now. The coldfronts have started pushing through about once a week and the flying fish are everywhere but the big balls of greenies and sardines haven’t shown up yet. These coldfronts pushing through turn the fishing from hot to cold almost on a daily basis, last Thursday the Dolphin fishin was excellent and we caught 1 Sailfish and lost another. The next day was almost a total shutdown and we tried everything from dead bait trolling to live bait kite fishing and only hooked up 2 Dolphin and got to see 1 Sailfish free jumping within 50 yards of the boat but no hook-up. The weekend was also on the slow side with a few scattered Dolphin, Sailfish, Kingfish and Wahoo. The good news is November is here and the Sailfishin should be excellent by the middle of the month, year after year it’s like somebody flips a switch around this time of year and packs of Sailfish start popping up all over the place, they don’t have to wait any longer on my account I’m goin crazy waiting. I’ll be back with another fishin report in about 10 days from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Now’s the time to set up that Dec/Jan Sailfish charter while the top boats have available dates, Dec/Jan is peak season and by the end of November Reel Busy Charters will be 75 to 80 percent booked. Still Waiting

Hello Fish Fans, We’re still waiting for the big push of baitfish that will start showing up in the fall bringing with it packs of hungry Sailfish. The fishin overall has been on the slow side for the last couple of weeks but it won’t stay that way much longer. The best bet right now is to get further offshore to the deeper waters of the Gulfstream and search out the schools of Dolphin that are moving through. You probably won’t find non-stop action but when you find a school break out the light tackle spinning rods and you’ll have a blast. Most of these Dolphin will be 5 to 10 pounds but 20 to 30 pounders are always a good possibility when your fishing the 1200 foot ridge. The first major cold front of the year is pushing through the northeast this past week so I would expect a dramatic improvement in the fishing over the next 2 weeks. We have a mild front moving in today and we’re comming off a full moon but as the new moon approaches and the temperatures fall the fishing should be excellent. I’ll be back in about 2 weeks with another fishing report from stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World and I hope it’s as good as I think it will be. Just What We Needed !

Hello Fish Fans, The summer weather patterns are movin out and fall is movin in. We finished off September with a mixed bag, some days were pretty good but some were on the slow side. The charter boats this week are all stuck at the dock with 20 to 25 mph winds out of the east and as much as we all hate being tied to the dock for days at a time, it’s just what we needed. The Sailfish have been movin in but they’ve been scattered all over the ocean, these strong easterly winds will push the bait up to the edge of the reef and the Sailfish and Dolphin will follow the bait. The winds are settling down today and conditions will inprove over the next several days. The Sailfish migration has begun and packs of Sailfish will begin showin up over the next few weeks and you can bet they’ll be ready to eat. We’ll be consistantly catchin 3 to 5 Sailfish a day with a few Dolphin in the mix but if your lucky enough to be fishin when these packs of Sailfish are ballin bait you can catch 10 or 12, maybe more. The Sailfishin over the next 2 to 3 months off the coast of Stuart Florida is as good as it gets anywhere in the world and nows the time to get that trip booked, you shouldn’t be dissapointed, even on a slow day you’ll get 2 or 3 hooked-up. Reel Busy Charters may not offer the cheapest charters in Stuart but with 2 tournament winning charter captains you can rest assured you’ll get your moneys worth, Nobody catches more fish than Reel Busy Charters ! I’ll be back with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. LET"S GO FISHIN ! Catch You Later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 772-288-1332

September 20 2006

Take Your Pick !

Hello Fish Fans, The slow down we experienced the end of August and early September due to the tropical storms is over. There’s plenty of Dolphin movin through again and some are in the 20 to 30 pound class. The debris that was busted loose during the storms a few weeks ago is now drifting north in the deep blue waters of the Gulfstream and with it lots of Dolphin. The Sailfish have begun movin into the Stuart area and there’s a consistant bite, it’s not red hot but it’s realistic to catch 1 or 2 Sailfish to go along with the Dolphin and Kingfish. This past weekend we were trolling for Dolphin in about 800 feet of water when the long rigger went off, I went for the rod and there was nothin there so I dropped the bait back and we hooked-up. The fish went down and just kept going at a rather slow pace and the only thing I knew for sure is that it was a big fish. After a few minutes and nothin changed I started thinkin Blue Marlin, then the water exploded and a Blue Marlin about 250 lbs. went nuts, I guess the hook finally hit a soft spot and fired him up. I like to fish for Dolphin with light tackle, on this trip we were using 20lb. spinning tackle and we got a legal release after about an hour but we reely wanted to bill the fish and take a nice picture. Well as you can imagine stopping a 250 lb. Blue Marlin with a 20lb spinning rod isn’t gonna happen til you tire him out, when he got next to the boat it didn’t take a genius to fiqure out he wasn’t tired, he went straight down. As the spool got to the last 50 yards of line he finally began comming back to the surface. We were following the Blue Marlin and slowly gaining line back when things got crazy. We came accross the floating debris we had been looking for earlier, a 10 foot bamboo pole and a pack of Dolphin swimming around it. I didn’t want to lose the Blue Marlin but I had 2 anglers and couldn’t pass them up. I began firing out baits and hookin up Dolphin while the Blue Marlin slowly took line, I guess you could say we were Reel Busy. The Blue Marlin kept taking line so I began gaffing the Dolphin and just throwing them on the floor so we could go after the Blue Marlin and get some line back. We fought that Blue Marlin for almost 4 hours getting him to the side of the boat over and over again but during one of his flips he must have wrapped the leader around his body and managed to cut the 20 lb line with his tail. We got a legal release in the first hour or so but never got to grab his beak and haul him up for a photo. For the next 4 to 6 weeks you can take your pick, Sailfish, Dolphin, Wahoo, Swordfish, Kingfish and maybe even a Blue Marlin. This is a slow time of year for the charter business and all of us have days available so get out there and take advantage of low hotel rates and excellent fishing. I’ll be back in about 10 days with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch You Later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Hate to Say it !

Hello Fish Fans, I hate to say it but overall the fishin has been reel slow since my last report. The tropical storms pushed in some reel dirty water and slowed the fishin down for a week or so. The conditions have inproved and there’s a nice mix of fish providing the action... Sailfish, Dolphin, Wahoo, Kingfish, Bonita and Barracuda. The Swordfishin has been good and the conditions are favorable on most evenings in September and October, this is a great way to spend the evening and Swordfish is great on a plate. Over the next 6 weeks as fall moves in so will the bait and right behind the bait will be the beginning of the Sailfish migration. I began Sailfishin over 20 years ago and got hooked, it’s not better then sex... but it’s a close second. The great thing about Sailfish is they feed on surface of the water so you usually see them as they approach the bait, often times right behind the boat no more than 15 or 20 feet. The Reel Busy specializes in live bait Sailfishin and whether it’s kite fishin or conventional slow trolling the open style fishing machine is a big advantage when there’s 2 or 3 Sailfish hooked-up and dancing off in different dirrections. Novenber, December and January are the best months for Sailfishin off the coast of stuart and nows the time to start planning that trip of a lifetime and catch one of the most acrobatic fish in the ocean. I’ll be back in about 10 days with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. LET’S GO FISHIN ! Catch You Later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Plenty of Action !

Hello Fish Fans, Jusy a few miles off the coast of Stuart in 50 to 150 feet of water the action has been good, nothing is reely red hot but there’s lots of fish. There’s a few Sailfish around and 1 or 2 hookups is likely on a typical day. The Bonita are still providing plenty of action in between the quality bites. The Dolphin fishin has been slow in the deep blue waters of the Gulfstream but we’re catchin a couple on most trips while live baiting for for Sailfish and Kingfish closer to shore. The storms passin through the carribean could be a good thing for Dolphin fishin in the deep blue waters of the Gulfstream. The debris will get caught up in the Gulfstream currents and the bait will gather up around it, soon after the Dolphin will show up to feed on the bait, the Wahoo will gather below the debris, 25 to 50 feet deep also rising up to feed on the bait, and if your reely lucky the grand-daddy of them all shows up, the Blue Marlin feeding on their favorite food, schooley dolphin. September is an excellent time to get away for a couple of days and do some fishin, the hotel rates are low and a wide variety of fish to target. September/October is prime time for a Swordfishin trip, the seas are usually calm and drifting the deep blue waters of the gulfstrem at night is a great way to spend the evening, most of these fish will be 50 to 150 pounds but Swordfish over 200 pounds are caught on a regular basis. The Sailfish season is just around the corner and December/January dates are starting to book, nows the time to start setting up that Sailfishin trip to Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. I’ll be back with another fishin report in about 10 days, Catch You Later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 772-288-1332

Hit & Miss !

Hello Fish Fans, The Dolphin Fishin over the last 10 days has been hit and miss, some days you’ll find big schools of fish and the next day one or two if you’re lucky. The best bet right now is to bend the rods, packs of Bonita 10 to 15 pounds are everywhere and there’s plenty of Kingfish if you wire up. While bending the rods on Kingfish and Bonita you’ll probably get a shot at a Sailfish, Dolphin or Wahoo. Overall there’s been allot of reely nice fish caught but some days were on the slow side, I guess that’s why it’s called fishin. I’ll be back in about 10 days with another fishin report from Stuart Florida Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch You Later, Captain Wayne LET’S GO FISHIN ! 772-288-1332 home 305-304-9049 cell

Just A Note !

Hello Fish Fans, Just a note to let you things are back to normal, the Dolphin fishin was good today, we caught 15 to 20 and kept 10. The highlight of the day was a 30 pound Wahoo, what a screamer. There’s a reel nice mix of fish offshore right now, Sailfish, Dolphin, Wahoo, Kingfish, Barracuda and Bonita. Gotta Go, Catch You Later, Captain Wayne

Red Hot to Not !

Hello Fish Fans, The Dolphin fishin was as good as it gets til about a week ago, it’s like they dissapeared. We had been catchin lots of Dolphin between 10 and 30 pounds about 15 miles offshore under the birds and around the scattered weedlines. This past week it all disappeared, the weeds were gone and the birds were all searchin for fish just like us. One trip last week we went over 40 miles offshore determined to find the Dolphin, that’s about 10 miles from the Bahamas, we never saw a Dolphin over 8 inches, they chased the bait down out of instinct but were too small to even bite off the tails of the bait. It’s hard to believe but there were more Sailfish caught than Dolphin over the last week or so but it’s true. The Dolphin fishin has been on and off this summer so I expect it will pick back up, I hope it’s reel soon. The best action the last week or so has been 3 to 5 miles from the beach, 15 to 25 pound Bonita are everywhere, they’re not good to eat but they put up a great fight. The Kingfishin has been excellent, most of these fish 8 to 12 pounds but 30 and 40 pounders are very possible. The bottom fishin is still on the slow side, this should be improving this month but the water temperture on the bottom is still under 60 degrees, as it warms up down there the bottom feeders will get more aggressive. The surface water temperture is now 85 to 87 degrees so we can expect the bottom water to start warming soon. The Sailfishin has been good and this should continue, last August the Sailfishin was excellent and it looks like it will be again this year. Hookin up at least 2 or 3 Sailfish a day is a reasonable expectation right now. I’ll be back in about 10 days with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Hello Fish Fans, Git out and Git Fishin ! The charter boats fishin the near shore waters 75 to 150 feet deep are bending the rods on Bonita and Kingfish with a few Dolphin and Sailfish in the mix. The Reel Busy has been fishin the offshore waters 800 to 1200 feer deep in the heart of the Gulfstream and the Dolphin fishin has been excellent. This past weekend a low preasure system moved through bringing west winds and thunder storms, we didn’t catch as many Dolphin as I have been but some of these fish were 20 and 30 pounds. The weather is picture perfect right now, the winds are light and variable, the seas are calm and the fishin is excellent. This is a great time of year for a Swordfishin trip too, this is a night charter departing at 6 pm and returning sometime in the am, most of these fish are 50 to 100 pounds but you never know there was a 600 pounder caught off the coast of Stuart last year. Take You Pick ! Sailfish, Dolphin, Kingfish, Swordfish, Blue Marlin and Wahoo are all possible targets this month, Git out and Git Fishin ! I’ll be back in about 10 days with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you Later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Time To Go !

Hello Fish Fans, If you’ve been thinkin about goin Dolphin fishin, it’s time to go and nobody catches more Dolphin than the Reel Busy. The run and gun Islamorada style mixed with conventional trolling is a deadly combination and consistantly catches more Dolphin. The hot spot over the last 7 to 10 days has been 18 miles off the coast of Stuart in 800 to 900 feet of water. This area has been producing large schools of Dolphin in the 7 to 10 pound range with 15 to 25 pounders in the mix. The weedlines have been a little scattered but the birds are plentiful and when you find the birds and 5 or 6 Dolphin get hooked-up, you’ll be reel busy. The Sailfish are still plentiful although they seem to be scattered, we caught another one while Dolphin fishin in 800 feet of water the other day, they’re being caught everyday in almost every depth of water. The Kingfishin has been good closer to shore with a few in the 30 to 40 pound range last week but who wants to catch slime when you can load up on Mahi-Mahi in the deeper waters of the Gulfstream. The targeted species this month will be Dolphin, Sailfish, Blue Marlin, Wahoo, Kingfish, Sharks and Tarpon. I’ll be back in about 10 days with another fishin report from stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. LET’S GO FISHIN ! 305-304-9049 cell Catch You Later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Take Your Pick !

Hello Fish Fans, July is here and it’s a great time to spend a couple of days fishin on the Treasure coast, you can take your pick ! The Tarpon are movin in, they’re along the beaches and inlets just waitin for ya. The Sailfishin has reely picked up and should be excellent this month, yesterday there were more Sailfish caught than Dolphin, they were free jumpin everywhere. The Kingfishin has been good although most of them have been small, 5 to 10 pounds with a few pushin 20 pounds. The Dolphin fishin has been excellent on most days and should remain excellent throughout the summer months, but yesterday wasn’t one of them, we fished weedlines from 100 feet of water out to 2000 feet of water and never saw one, thank God the Sailfish wanted to play. The summer months are also an excellent time for Swordfishin, this is a night trip and most of these fish will be 50 to 150 pounds, 250 to 500 pounds is always possible. The summer months are also and excellent time for shark fishin along the treasure coast, Bull Sharks up to 250 pounds will be providing plenty of action. Let’s Go Fishin ! We’ll be catchin Sailfish, Dolphin, Wahoo, Tarpon, Sharks, Bonita, Kingfish, and with a little bit of luck maybe another Blue Marlin. I’ll be back in about 10 days with another fishin report from stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch You Later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters H-772-288-1332 Cell 305-304-9049

Hit & Miss !

Hello Fish Fans, The red hot Dolphin fishin the end of May turned to hit & miss fishin the beginning of June. As the full moon passes and the wind and storms subside from Tropical Storm Alberto the Dolphin fishin should turn on once again. Last Sunday we caught alot of Dolphin but most of them were small and about 25 miles offshore. The Blue Marlin are hangin around in decent numbers, we had another one pass through are spread but he didn’t eat, that same day we saw another one bustin up the water chasing small Dolphin. The fishin along the edge of the reef about 6 to 8 miles offshore has been producing alot of Bonita, a few Kingfish, Dolphin and Sailfish. The last 2 weeks of June we’ll be catchin lots of Dolphin,a few Wahoo and maybe if we’re lucky another Blue Marlin. The Giant Tarpon will be showin up all along the beaches here at the end of the month and into July, many of these migrating Tarpon will exceed 150 pounds. I’ll be back in about 10 days with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch You Later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters Let’s Go Fishin !

Red Hot Fishin !

Hello Fish Fans, The Dolphin fishin off the coast of stuart Florida is Red Hot right now espiecailly on the Reel Busy. The Reel Busy is one of the only charter boats that fishes on the backside of the Gulfstream on a regular basis. One trip on the backside and you’ll be hooked, the water is electric blue, there’s more fish and less boats, this is a very productive combination. This past week was Red Hot, one day we caught over 30 Dolphin with one 20 pounder, we had three days where we caught less than ten fish but on those days all the Dolphin were big, between 20 and 40 pounds. Yesterday was the slowest day I’ve had in the past week only catchin 2 Dolphin between 10 and 15 pounds but it might have been the best day of the week. At 10:00am we had a small Dolphin hook-up on one of the flat lines til we saw him get off and go flying sideways, it looked reely odd but we soon realized what had happened when we hooked-up a Blue Marlin on on the left long rigger. After about 2 1/2 hours we boated and released a Blue Marlin weighing between 150 and 200 pounds on 20 pound spinning tackle. Angler Larry Laney did a great job on this fish and is already the second angler this year on the Reel Busy to release a Blue Marlin with 20 pound spinning tackle. The Blue Marlin fishin will be good over the next 2 months especially around the full moons of June and July. We will continue to catch Big Dolphin between 25 and 50 pounds on a regular basis through the month of June, after that we’ll be catchin more Dolphin but most will be in the 5 to 10 pound range. The Sailfishin has been excellent considering this is the end of May, you’re not going to catch 6 or 8 of them but 2 or 3 is a good possibility and they always put on a great show when they’re hooked-up. Over the next 30 days the Giant Tarpon will be movin into the area in numbers providing lots of action along the beach, some of these fish will go 150 to 200 pounds. The Tarpon is one of the most sought after sportfish in the world and rightfully so, these fish have alot of heart and will fight you til the bitter end providing an acrobatic show you’ll never forget. The summer months are upon us and that means Swordfishin is now on the menu, the conditions are right and the Sworfish are waiting. This is a great time to get out on the Reel Busy, calm seas, sunny skies and lots of fish, you’re gonna love it ! How’s the Fishin ?

Hello Fish Fans, Everybody always asks me " How’s the Fishin? ", lately it can best be described as fishin. The fronts keep comin on a weekly basis turnin the fishin on and off. During the last 2 weeks we’ve had days of red hot Dolphin fishin catchin 20 to 30 between 5 and 25 pounds each. On the other hand we’ve had days with only one or two, it’s like they dissapear. The full moon last week slowed the Dolphin fishin down but most of the Dolphin caught were 20 to 30 pounders. There was another Blue Marlin caught last week and you can expect a few more to be caught around the full moons of June and July. Along the reefs edge the Bonita have been passin through in numbers, some of these fish will go 25 to 30 pounds, they’re not considered good tablefair but pound for pound nothing pulls harder. The sailfishin is slow but there’s a few around if you have the patience, it’s a nice way to end the day after you put some Dolphin in the box. There’s another front passin through midweek but by the weekend and into next week the Dolphin fishin should be excellent, southeast winds and no moonlight is a great combination, we’re gonna catch some fish. I’ll be back in about 10 days with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch You Later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 Let’s Go Fishin !

Timing is Everything !

Hello Fish Fans, The last 10 days has been all over the place, good fishin and slow fishin, calm seas and 10 foot seas, sunny skies and mostly cloudy, we’ve had it all. The outside edge of the reef has been the most consistant, we’ve been catchin Sailfish, Dolphin , Kingfish and more Bonita than I can count. The Bonita are all over the reefs edge, they’re not edible in my book but they reely put up a fight and we’ve been hookin-up 3 and 4 at a time. The Dolphin fishin has been hit and miss, some days have been excellent with plenty of 20 to 30 pounders but some days they’ve been non-exsistant. The weather fronts that I expected to be gone by now continue to pass through tearin up the weedlines and current edges, when they move through the Dolphin fishin shuts down to a crawl and it takes 2 or 3 days to get goin again. The Sailfishin picks up everytime one of these fronts moves through and then slows back down when the seas settle down. The Kingfish are showin up in greater numbers but we’re not catchin any big ones, most of these fish are 7 to 15 pounds, the big ones should be right behind them but we’ll see. May is finally here and that means more big Dolphin will be movin around the Gulfstream, we’ll start seeing bigger schools of Dolphin as well. The wind and seas should have become more stable a month ago, sooner or later it will happen and when it does the fishin will be excellent. This past weekend the seas we’re 8 to 10 feet with a 25 mph wind, too rough for most to be comfortable and the ones who went found the fishin to be on the slow side. The conditions have to improve sooner or later and when they do you can bet the Dolphin fishin will be excellent. I’ll be back in about 10 days with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch You Later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell or 772-288-1332 home

You Gotta Love It !

Hello Fish Fans, The last cold front of the season was passin through at the time of my last report and the wind continued to blow at 25 to 30mph until the morning of the 14th, the wind layed down and the fishin got red hot. The Sailfishin had slowed down to a crawl but all that changed on the 14th, most boats had 1 or 2, 1 boat had 4, everybody caught Dolphin up to 30 pounds, you gotta love it! The Sailfishin has been good over the last week and with a little bit of luck this will continue through the end of the month. The Dolphin fishin is reely startin to heat up, calm seas with mild breezes and tempertures in the 80’s, you gotta love it! Spring and early summer is when most of the Big Bull Dolphin will be caught along the southeast coast of Florida, some of these Dolphin will be 40 to 50 pounds, 2 years ago the Reel Busy caught a 60 pounder, that was a monster. The most important thing to remember when planning a fishin trip for Dolphin is to avoid the full moon if possible, the days surrounding the full moon will be the slowest days of the month. The Dolphin is the fastest growin fish in the ocean with a lifespan of less than 5 years, all they do is travel and eat. During the full moon they can feed at will in the moonlight, they’re not as hungry and they won’t be as aggressive. The Cobia are still hangin around the wrecks, turtles and rays all along the coast of Stuart, most of these fish are 20 to 30 pounds but 40 and 50 pounders are being caught on a regular basis . The Kingfish are here but most of them are snakes, less than 20 pounds. Springtime is also an excellent time for Yellowfin Tuna 50 to 75 miles off the coast of Stuart, most of these fish are 35 to 75 pounds but some will go well over 100. Although this trip commands a premium price due to the price of fuel these days, it’s a trip you’ll never forget and it’s not that far on the Reel Busy cruisin at 40mph. We don’t always find the Tuna, sometimes we have to settle for Dolphin, Wahoo or Blue Marlin. We’ll be headin way out there this weekend and I’ll let you know how we did in my next report. I’ll be back in about 10 days with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. This is a great time to kill some fish for the freezer, Let’s Go Fishin! Springtime Dolphin !

Hello Fish Fans, Springtime is a great time to go Dolphin fishin, the schooleys have gotten a little bigger and 20 to 30 pounders are being caught almost everyday. The Dolphin fishin will continue to get better and better over the next 6 weeks, so far the largest Dolphin this year out of Pirates Cove is 39 pounds, there’s 40 and 50 pounders out there and the Reel Busy is on a mission to take the top spot on the board. The Sailfishin has been slow but those puttin in the time are catchin one or two, as long as these cold fronts keep comin through every 7 to 10 days you can expect to have a few Sailfish hangin around the edge. The Cobia are still in town travellin under the Rays and Turtles, 30, 40 and 50 pounders are being caught. The Kingfishin has been on and off with most Kingfish weighing less than 30 pounds. The bottom fishin for Grouper and Mutton Snapper has been on the slow side, when these cold fronts stop comin, the seas will settle down and the bottom fishin will improve. The wind has all of us at the dock this week, 25 to 30 knot winds with gusts to 40, 9 to 12 foot seas decreasing to 7 to 10 later in the week, sounds like a reel adventure doesn’t it. I’ll be back in about 2 weeks with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch You Later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell

Winter Won’t Go !

Hello Fish Fans, Another front moved through this weekend with tempertures in the upper 40’s, hopefully this is the last one . The only thing holdin back great fishin has been the weather, looks like this week is gonna be a nice one and I’d expect some reely good fishin. We’ve been catchin bigger Dolphin over the last week or so, 10 to 20 pounds and a couple 30 pounders. The Cobia are here in pretty good numbers with a few 50 and 1 60 pounder, this week should be good with the wind and seas layin down. There’s alot of Kingfish around, most if them are small but a few 30 pounders have been caught. The Sailfish are still around in limited numbers but the boats fishin for them are gettin 1 or 2 shots a day, you’ll need patience and a little bit of luck. Along the beach the Spanish Makerel fishin is red hot, the action is almost non-stop. Most of these fish are about 2 pounds, some will go 5 to 6 pounds, this is a great half day trip for those lookin for lots of action. As Spring moves in the Dolphin will be gettin larger and more plentifull, most of these fish will be 5 to 10 pounds, alot of these fish will be 15 to 25 pounds, some will go 40 to 50 pounds. The weather this week is forecast to be awesome, I beliece the fishin will be to, Let’s Go Fishin ! 305-304-9049 cell I’ll be back in about 10 days with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Off and On Fishin !

Hello Fish Fans, The fronts keep commin and the fishin turns on and off as they pass through. The Dolphin fishin has been pretty good and should be excellent as soon as the weather stabilizes, there’s alot of Dolphin out there but they’re scattered. The Kingfish are showin up in greater numbers with several in the 20 pound class. The Sailfishin has slowed down to a crawl but there’s still some around so if Sailfishin is on your mind it’s still a possibilitiy. Along the edge from 75 to 100 feet of water we’ve been catchin small sharks, Bonita, Kingfish, small Dolhin and a few Sailfish pop up here and there. As we move further offshore we’re catchin alot of Dolphin around debris and scattered weed that’s trying to come together. I’ll be back in about 10 days with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Let’s Go Fishin ! Catch You Later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell

Runnin and Gunnin !

Hello Fish Fans, Another cold front has us all at the dock this weekend, it’s rainy, windy and 10 to 12 foot seas, I hope this is the last cold front of the year cause I go nuts when I’m stuck on land. The weather was great last week and with Sailfishin windin down I recommended runnin and gunnin to my clients, it’s 150.00 more for fuel costs but it’s usually worth it and this time it was worth every penny and then some. The water on the backside of the Gulfstream is electric blue and at about 35 miles offshore we found a beautiful current edge with scattered weed and some debris. While trolling the area we found a small log bobbing staight up and down and began catchin Dolphin, most of them were on the small side so I put on the Wahoo lures and we began catchin Wahoo, we caught six, four of them in the 25 pound range. After a couple hours of catchin it slowed down so we started runnin lookin for another edge, we found another one and after about 30 minutes of trollin the edge the grand daddy of them all popped up on the long rigger. At first I wasn’t sure what it was cause all I could see was the bill swatting at the bait, the third swat I dropped the bait back and hooked him up, he went straight down and I knew then it was a Blue Marlin. After about 15 minutes he came to the surface 30 feet from the boat and fired up the rockets, he exploded the water and screamed off about 200 yards of line bustin the surface the whole time. The next time we got him to the boat he lit up like a christmas tree and began exploding water everywhere putting us in a 360 degree turn, it was totally awesome. The next time we got him to the boat I grabbed the leader and let him go, it took about an hour an a half to release this 180 pound Blue Marlin on 20 pound tackle, it was the catch of a lifetime for my angers and a day they’ll never forget. The Reel Busy cruises at 35 to 40 mph so it doesn’t take that long to get 30,40 or 50 miles offshore, the backside of the Gulfstream offers a wide varity of big fish, Blue Marlin,Yellowfin Tuna, Big Dolphin and Wahoo are the most common. Closer to shore the fishin has been hit and miss, there’s still a few Sailfish around, Dolphin, Kingfish, Bonita and small sharks have been consistant but not in great numbers. As the winds and seas subside the bottom fishin for Mutton Snapper and Grouper should continue to improve right through the spring and into summertime. All Over the Place !

Hello Fish Fans, The last 3 weeks have been all over the place, the fishin has been good, bad and ugly and so has the weather. The beginning of the month the Sailfishin slowed down to a crawl, the next week after another nasty coldfront the Sailfishin was excellent catchin 2 or 3 every trip, this past week after the nastiest coldfront of the year the Sailfish disappeared again. The weather this week was as nice as it can get but the fishin was on the slow side, 1 or 2 boats out of 15 or 20 would stumble on to a lone Sailfish, half the fleet stumbled into a few Dolphin and the other half only ended up with a beautiful day on the water. There was one boat on the 16th that must have found the end of the rainbow, they caught and released a Blue Marlin about 180 pounds. One Blue Marlin is a great day nomatter where your fishin but less than an hour later they hooked-up another Blue Marlin, this time they caught and released a Blue Marlin estimated at over 300 pounds. The Cobia are movin in now and there were several caught this week in the 50 pound class, this will continue for the next 4 to 6 weeks. The Dolphin fishin will continue to improve for weeks to come, the schools are getting bigger and so are the fish. As springtime moves in so will the wahoo, beginning the end of February through the end of March the Wahoo fishin should be excellent, some of these Wahoo will be 50 to 60 pounds and will reach speeds of 50 to 60 mph. I’ll be back with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World around March 1st, I’ll let you know what’s hot and what’s not. The Winds Been Blowin !

Hello Fish Fans, The winds been blowin almost every day since my last report, the conditions have been windy with rough seas and mixed sun and clouds. It doesn’t matter how big the boat, 30,40 and 50 footers alike have had an abundance of cancellations. The Sailfishin seems to be slowin down a little but nobodys fishin enough to get a good handle on it, we’ve been catchin 1 to 3 Sailfish still on every trip but the conditions make it much harder to move around and check out multiple locations, more single hook-ups and not as mny multiple hook-ups. We’re still catchin a few Dolphin on most days and the Kingfish are startin to show up in greater numbers, small sharks have been driven us crazy, some days we’re relocating cause you can’t put bait in the water without them eatin you up. There’s been a few Wahoo caught and as February moves in so will the Wahoo, the best bite is first thing in the mornin so if you want to catch’em get out at first light and get put out the lures. February will be an excellent month for offshore fishin, we’ll be catchin Sailfish, Dolphin, Wahoo, Bonita, Kingfish and probably more little sharks tearin us up. Still Goin !

Hello Fish Fans, The Sailfish bite is still goin strong off the coast of Stuart Florida and should be for at least the next 30 days. The live bait is abundant, Greenies, Pilchards, Threadfin Herring and Blue Runners are balled up all along the coast. The Spanish Mackerel are so thick you’ll need to go out to about 50 feet of water or you’ll be changin sabiki rigs as fast as you can take them out of the package. This past week we caught more double and triple hook-ups than we did singles, it gets pretty wild when you have 3 or 4 Sailfish on at the same time but on an open style boat like the Reel Busy we catch all of them about 90 percent of the time, each angler follows their fish around the boat passin over and under the other anglers as needed til we finally get to the last Sailfish and release’em. The Schooley Dolphin showed up again this week, not in great numbers but they’re a tasty treat at the end of a great day of Sailfishin. The resturant at Pirates Cove makes up a reely nice platter with your catch, Batter Fried, Baked and Blackened, you’re gonna love it. A couple of boats ran into a few Cobia under Giant Manta Rays this week in about 75 feet of water, it’s a little early in the season to target them but when you see big Sea Turtles or Manta Rays you gotta check it out, the Cobia is one of the best tasteing fish in the ocean. I haven’t been fishin for them lately but the Kingfish and Wahoo are in town for those who want to put on the wire and meat fish, I don’t care to eat the Kingfish but Wahoo is Excellent. You Gotta Love it !

Hello Fish Fans, The new year is here and so are the Sailfish, multiple hook-ups are the norm not the exception, you gotta love it. The Sailfish is the most acrobatic fish in the ocean and when we’re hooked-up with 2 or 3 at the same time you couldn’t knock the smile off my face with a baseball bat, it’s an awesome sight. If you’ve never caught a Sailfish now’s the time, most days are producing at least 3 to 5 hook-ups and with a little bit of luck double digit hook-ups are not unusual. There’s been a couple of days since my last report that were disapointing, the weather was too nice and the seas too calm. The Sailfish are alot more active when the seas are at least 2 to 3 foot, 3 to 5 foot seas are my favorite, not too rough, not too calm, and it’s choppy enough to excite the Sailfish. This time of year the conditions change from day to day, but any day the seas are 3 to 5 foot or 4 to 6 foot you can bet the Sailfish will be tearin it up all along the Treasure Coast and Stuart. The Dolphin fishin has just about shut down, there’s a few small schooley Dolphin being caught but I wouldn’t try and target them at this time. For those who want to stay close to shore the Spanish and Cero Mackerel are providing almost non-stop action just off the beach, most of these fish are only 5 to 10 pounds but on light spinning tackle they’re alot of fun. Once you get your fill we step up the tackle and cut the Mackerel into big hunks and finish the day with a little shark fishin, the spinner shark is my favorite shark cause when it gets hooked-up it goes absolutely nuts, they spin like a top while jumpin and flippin out of the water. The Reel Busy is the most versitile charter boat on the treasure coast, this tournament rigged 31 foot contender is a light tackle fishin machine with no diesel fumes and more fishin space than most 40 or 50 foot boats, there’s no cabin to take a nap but if you wanna catch fish you’re gonna love fishin on the Reel Busy. Red Hot Sailfishin !

Hello Fish Fans, The Sailfishin off the coast of Stuart is Red Hot, more catchin than fishin, most days we’re catchin 3 to 5 and on the good day 7 to 10 is not unusual. The Sailfish will continue to migrate south for the next 3 to 5 weeks, many of these fish will stop and hang out in the waters off the coast of Stuart, that’s why Stuart Florida is considered The Sailfish Capital of the World, there’s more Sailfish here throughout the winter than any other location along the southeast coast of Florida, including the Florida Keys. I grew up fishin out of Miami and spent the last 12 years fishin out of Islamorada in the Florida Keys, I’ve had some reely great days Sailfishin but I’ve never seen as many Sailfish as I’ve seen off the coast of Stuart, it’s been awesome. The Dolphin Fishin is still excellent on the edge of the Gulfstream if you prefer catchin something you can kill and put on a plate. Overall the the fishin is excellent, Sailfish, Dolphin, Kingfish, Bonita, Sharks and a few Wahoo. If you want to catch big fish on light tackle give me call, nobody will put you on more fish than the Reel Busy, it’s a 50 mph fishin machine, tournament rigged with a captain who almost always finds the fish. The Kingfish are showin up in greater numbers with some Kings in the 30 to 40 pound range, as the water temperture drops the Kingfishin will get better and better. The fishin is Red Hot off the Treasure Coast in Stuart Florida right now, Sailfish and Dolphin at the same time, you gotta love’it! Hello Fish Fans, This is a great time for fishin off the Treasure Coast of Florida, there’s plenty of Dolphin around, the Sailfish have finally arrived in greater numbers, and the Kingfish are showin up in greater numbers every day. Huge packs of livebait up & down the beach but so are the spanish and cero makerel, yesterday we had a terrible time catchin livebait cause the macks were tearin everything up, there were macks and bait jumpin all around us but they were movin too fast for a net and the macks were cuttin off everything on the sabiki rigs. The first cold front of the year just pasted through and from here on out the Sailfishin, Kingfishin and Wahoo fishin will get better and better til it peaks in January, it will continue to be excellent right through the month of February. The Reel Busy specializes in Sailfishin and employs two different methods to insure success. The most common method off the Treasure Coast in Stuart Florida is trollin dead Ballyhoo along the color changes and current edges, the Reel Busy uses this method on 1/2 day charters and when live bait isn’t cooperative. When live bait fishin we’ll slow-troll the same edges and colorchanges with the added attraction of a Kite. The kite allows the bait to be suspended on the surface of the water kickin and splashin, I don’t know who gets more excited, the Sailfish as he approaches this strugglin bait or the angler when that big black shadow begins stalking it’s prey. Kite fishin is an experience you’ll never forget, it’s reely awesome. Now’s the time to reserve charter on the Reel Busy for January/February , when bookin your room at Pirates Cove Resort and Marina mention your fishin on the Reel Busy and get 20% off the cost of your room. I’ll be back in about 10 days with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World, Let’s Go Fishin ! Catch You Later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049cell

Still Waitin !

Hello Fish Fans, We’re still waitin for the big push of Sailfish to begin migrating to the south for the winter, there’s a few around but it’s been hit and miss. The Dolphin fishin has been excellent, they seem to be everywhere. We’ve had an extreme color change offshore of the Treasure Coast in 350 to 450 feet of water and the Dolphin are migtrating rapidly to the south, these fish are eating anything that gets in their way, live bait, dead bait, lures, it doesn’t matter, they’re aggressive attackin anything that’s movin. Most of the fish on the color change have been 5 to 8 pounds with a few 20 pounders mixed in, the weedlines in the 600 to 800 feet of water are producing bigger schools of fish and more in the 15 to 25 pound range. Today the dirty side of the color change produced several Wahoo in the 20 to 40 pound class, I know of one Wahoo estimated at over 75 pounds that was lost when the hook came off the spoon. The Wahoo is the fastest fish in the ocean hitting speeds of 60mph on the initial run when hooked up, there’s nothin like the sound of a screamin reel when a Wahoo is on the end of your line, it’s reely awesome. There’s a few Kingfish around but like the Sailfish we’ll need a few more cold fronts to get them goin. I’ll be back in about 10 days with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World, Catch You Later, Captain Wayne, Reel busy Charters Let’s Go Fishin ! 305-304-9049
