Gotta be Lucky

Hello Fish Fans, The Dolphin Fishin should be Red Hot this time of year but the last 2 weeks there’s been allot more fishin than catchin goin on. We’ve caught some Big Dolphin over 30 pounds but fishin all day for 2 or 3 fish is not what the doctor ordered. The winds normally blow out of the east and southeast this time of year forming up weedlines that are teaming with Dolphin just waiting to play the game but that hasn’t been the case lately. The southwest and west winds have most of the weedlines broken up and scattered and the Dolphin are just as scattered as the weeds. Everyday 1 or 2 boats get lucky and catch a few nice Dolphin but it’s been slower than I’ve seen it in over 30 years of fishin off the southeast coast of Florida. One day last week we covered over 90 miles of water between 80 feet and 1800 feet of water and never found a Dolphin, 2 days later we fished all day and only caught 2 Dolphin, one at 33 pounds and the other weighed 10 pounds. I’m sure it’ll get better and I hope it’s reel soon but until these winds stop swingin arround you gotta be lucky. There’s Dolphin, Sailfish, Kingfish and Wahoo out there but it’s hit and miss and day to day. I hope to have better news in my next report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Dissapointing but no Surprize

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing over the last week or so has been dissapointing but it’s no surprize. The full moon almost always slows the Dolphin fishin down to a crawl for a few days but when you add the west winds of an April cool front to the mix you’re gonna need to get lucky. We had a nice catch of Dolphin on every trip except a 1/2 day trip on the 21st, I guess the fish have to win every now and then to keep them interested in playin the game. The full moon has passed and the Dolphin fishing will be excellent over the next few weeks. May & June is the best time to catch Big Dolphin in the 40 to 50 pound range so give us a call and let’s go catch’em. The full moons will be May 19th and June 18th, you can expect the Dolphin fishin to slow down for 3 to 5 days on either side of the full moons. The full moons aren’t all bad however, the full moons of May, June and July are Prime Time for Blue Marlin fishing. The axis of the Gulfstream is teaming with Blue Marlin feeding on schooley Dolphin this time of year and they get very aggressive arround the full moons. The axis of the Gulfstream is located about 25 miles off the coast of Stuart and the Reel Busy is the only charter boat that visits these waters on a regular basis, that’s probably why we catch more Blue Marlin than the others. The Cobia have arrived late this year but there’s plenty of them arround right now and there’s been several caught between 40 and 50 pounds over the last week or two. Sailfishing is on the slow side but there’s a few being caught on a daily basis. Take your pick,Dolphin,Sailfish,Blue Marlin,Cobia,Tuna,Swordfish and Wahoo are all possible targets this time of year so give us a call and let’s go catch’em. I’ll be back in 7 to 10 days with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 772-288-1332 home or 305-304-9049 cell

Cool Fronts

Hello Fish Fans, Cool Fronts continue to come into town slowing the fishing down for a couple of days every week or so but after they pass the fishing is excellent. We caught 1 or 2 Sailfish on every trip this week along with 10 to 20 Dolphin. One day we only caught 10 dolphin but 3 of them were between 20 and 30 pounds and most of the rest were Gaffers. The days we caught 20 or more Dolphin we were finding bigger schools but not as many big ones. There’s another cool front moving through this weekend so the fishing will probably be a little tougher for a couple of days but by mid week the Sailfish and Dolphin will be chewin. This is a great time of year to be catchin fish off the coast of Stuart so give us a call and let’s go catchem’. I’ll be back in a week or so with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 772-288-1332 home or 305-304-9049 cell

Sringtime Fishin !

Hello Fish Fans, Springtime Fishin off the coast of Stuart Florida is excellent and there’s a variety of fish to choose from. Sailfish, Dolphin, Wahoo, Cobia, Kingfish, Swordfish, Blue Marlin, Tuna and Bonita. The Sailfishin is day to day but if you’re patient you’ll probably catch 1 or 2, the boats that targeted them this week all managed to catch a couple. The Dolphin fishin is excellent right now and the bigger Dolphin are starting to show up. There’s was several Dolphin in the 25 to 30 pound range caught over the last week or so and by this time next month the 35 to 50 pounders will start showing up. The best time to catch a monster Bull Dolphin is May and June especially around the new moons. Targeting Dolphin on the Reel Busy this time of year will produce at least 8 to 10 Dolphin and on a good day 12 to 18 is a typical catch. The Cobia are starting to show up on the wrecks, turtles and rays and this should continue through the month of April. The sea conditions should be more condusive for cobia Fishing next week, the seas were a little choppy for it this week but there were a few caught last weekend up to 30 pounds. There’s been a few Wahoo around so if your up to getting an early start chances are pretty good that you could start your day with a 20 to 30 pound Wahoo. The best time to catch’em is between sunrise and 9am although if you find floating debris while Dolphin fishin you’ll probably find a few wahoo hangin around under the debris. I’m not a big fan of catching Kingfish and Bonita but if you just want to bend a rod there’s plenty of them around. April, May, June are all excellent months to target Blue marlin and Swordfish off the coast of stuart. The Blue Marlin will be cruising around about 20 miles offshore feeding on schooley Dolphin for the next several months and although they’re not as abundant as Dolphin if you put your time in there’s a good chance you’ll get the opportunity to catch one of these monsters. The Swordfishing is excellent right now but the sea conditions are not always cooperative, it’s not much fun drifting the Gulfstream at night in a 3 to 5 or 4 to 6 foot sea. It’s not to often that we don’t catch’em when the sea conditions are mild but it does happen. April, May and June is also primetime for the Reel Busy Tuna Trip. This trip is designed for fish heads like me, it’s a 12 hour day and a 60 mile ride. It’s usually about 1 1/2 hour ride each way, 2 hours if the sea conditions slow us down. We start out catchin Blackfin Tuna up to 25 pounds unless we find the Yellowfin Tuna on the way and when you’ve had enough Tuna fishin Wahoo, Dolphin and Blue Marlin are next on the hit list. The offshore fishing over the next 90 days is consistantly good year after year so if you ready to catch fish give me a call and let’s go catch’em. I’ll be back in 7 to 10 days with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the world. Catch you Later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters, 772-288-1332 home or 305-304-9049 cell

Tuna Fishing

Hello fish Fans, The fishing off the coast of Stuart has been fair to good thanks to the cold fronts that keep pushing west winds into the area for days at a time. Bonita are everywhere and the first few are fun to catch but after a while you just want them to leave the baits alone so the Dolphin or Sailfish can get a chance to eat. The Manta Rays are starting to show up, unfortunetly the conditions have prevented the Cobia from tagging along but when the conditions improve we’ll be catchin Cobia on a regular basis. The Sailfishing has been on and off but there’s still a few around if you put your time in you’ll catch’em. I did my first Tuna Trip to the corner a couple of days ago and caught 15 Blackfin Tuna up to 25 pounds in just a few hours. The Yellowfin Tuna haven’t shown up on the corner yet but the Blackfin Tuna are plentifull. The Tuna Trip is a 60 mile ride but when the sea conditions are mild it’s only about an hour and a half on the Reel Busy and the action is well worth the trip. The sea conditions slowed us down a little on this trip but it still only took two hours to get to the Tuna grounds. I’ll be back in a week or two with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Give us a call and Let’s Go Fishin ! 772-288-1332 home or 305-304-9049 cell Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Like Night & Day

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing over the last couple of weeks has been like night & day. The fishing has been excellent when the winds blow any combination containing north and east but when the winds contain any combination of south or west the fishing slowed to a crawl. There’s another cold front pushing thru today bringing tempertures down to the lower 40’s tonight which is unusual for late February. The Spanish Sardines are stacked up on the wrecks which should improve the Sailfishing off the coast of Stuart on into March. The Dolphin fishing is still excellent and probably will be for the next several months. The Dolphin will be getting bigger and bigger over the next couple of months and we’ll start seeing more 20 and 30 pound Dolphin as we get into April and May. Most of the Dolphin right now are 6 to 12 pounds but a few in the 15 to 20 pound class are being caught almost on a daily basis. We haven’t seen any Cobia yet but they’ll being showing up reel soon. The kingfish are scattered around but there’s plenty around if you looking to catch’em. The Wahoo is the fastest fish in the ocean and March/April is an excellent time of year to target them. The best time of day to catch these speedsters is early morning so get out for sunrise and with a little bit of luck you might catch a couple while the other boats are catchin for baitfish. The fishing over the next couple of weeks should be excellent so give us a call and let’s go catch’em. I’ll be back in a week or two with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 772-288-1332 home 305-304-9049 cell

Movin In

Hello Fish Fans, The first part of the week wasn’t fishable due to a cold front pushing thru but the end of the week was as good as it gets. The Dolphin fishing was red hot with packs of Schooley Dolphin in the 5 to 10 pound class and we had several 20 pounders. There’s been a shortage of live bait off the coast of Stuart for the last two months but the Greenies are movin in and the Sailfishing lit up yesterday like it should have done weeks ago. I think there were more Sailfish caught yesterday than there was for the first 2 weeks of February combined. There’s another cold front pushing thru the first part of the week which will shut us down for a day or two but when it passes the Sailfish and Dolphin should be plentifull. The fishing is almost predictable this time of year. Winds out of the south, soutwest, west and northwest will slow the fishing down unless you get lucky but winds out of the north, northeast, east and southeast will provide excellent fishing conditions and you won’t be dissapointed. I’ll be back in a week or two with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 772-288-1332 home or 305-304-9049 cell Give us a call and Let’s go Catch’em !

February 10 2008

Day to Day

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing continues to be day to day with Dolphin providing most of the action on the current edges about 6 miles off the beach. Packs of Schooley Dolphin in the 5 to 10 pound range are travelling south on rips and current edges along the coast feeding on small flying fish and baitfish in the scattered weed. The Sailfish have been hit and miss so you’ll want to bring a little luck with you if you want to catch’em. Timing is everything this time of year because of the cold fronts that pass thru on almost a weekly basis. This past week we caught 10 Dolphin Tuesday with a NE wind, as the front approached we caught only 2 dolphin on a S wind Wednesday, the SW-W wind on Thursday produced ZIPPO, and finished the week with 16 Dolphin with a N wind on Saturday. The fishing will continue to be good inbetween the fronts with Sailfish, Dolphin, Kingfish, Bonita and Wahoo providing most of the action.I’ll be back in a week or two with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Bi-Weekly Reports

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing reports for 2008 will be bi-weekly like they used to be with special reports mixed in from time to time. I enjoy writing them a couple of times a month but weekly was kinda like a second job. The Sailfishing was slower than expected in January but they’re here in numbers now and that means Red Hot Sailfishing for February just like last year. Everybody caught at least one or two Sailfish yesterday and the best is yet to come. January was tough last year as well but February was as good as it gets and I look foward to the days catching 4 or 5 instead of struggling to catch 1 or 2 like it was in January. The Dolphin and Kingfish have been plentifull on most days and this will continue thru February. The Cobia will start showing up in February and be plentifull thru March. Snook Season will open on February 1st and Snook fishing at night is a must if you like light tackle plug fishing. I’ll be back in a couple weeks with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell or 772-288-1332 home

Bring’em On !

Hello Fish Fans, The Sailfishing should of been red hot over the last few weeks but the Sailfish are still gathered up north of Ft. Pierce making it hit & miss off the coast of Stuart. As soon as the bait starts showing up along the coast of Stuart the Sailfishing will improve but it’s looking like February may out perform January like it did last year. We’re catching a few right now but we’re not seeing days with 4 or 5 like we usually do. There’s alot of small Dolphin and Kingfish around so even on a slow day we’re catching a few fish but until the bait shows up the Sailfishing will continue to be hit & miss. The good news is the bait will show up and the Sailfishing will be as good as it gets. Last year the Sailfishing picked up at the end of January and by February we were catching 4 to 5 everyday and our best day was 10 on Vallentines Day. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Still Waiting

Hello Fish Fans, The Sailfish have been gathering off Ft. Peirce for the last few weeks but we’re still waiting for the big push to get to Stuart. The cold front that moved through the middle of last week brought tempertures in the 30’s and 8 to 12 foot seas so we decided not to fish Thursday. The next few days we spent too much time fishin and not enough time catchin. Saturday was our best day with 1 Sailfish, 5 Dolphin and one nice Kingfish. The drop in water temperture should get the Sailfish pushin further south again and things can get back to normal. The forecast looks good this week and the fishing will be better than last week. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters LET’S GO FISHIN !

December 23 2007

Merry Christmas !

Merry Christmas Fish Fans, The Sailfishing off the coast of Stuart was slow to excellent last week, some boats never saw one while others got in the bite and caught 8 or 9. Overall there’s alot of Sailfish around but the last couple of weeks the Sailfish have been more like my nemisis than my specialty. It’s always more fun to be the one that’s catchin instead of the one who’s watchin but every dog has it’s day. The fishing should be excellent over the holidays and the weather forcast is good so give me a call and we’ll hook you up with Sailfish, Dolphin, Kingfish and Bonita. December 28th, 29th and 30th are the available dates this week. Merry Christmas ! Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell or 772-288-1332 home

Migration Stalled

Hello Fish Fans, The Sailfish migration stalled this week keeping most of the fish off FT. Pierce and points further north. The lack of cold fronts and a rare December tropical storm moving accross the carribean seem to shut the Sailfishing down towards the end of last week. There’s a cold front moving thru today and we’ll see tempertures in the upper 40’s so the Sailfish will be on the move again over the next couple of days. The Sailfishing usually slows down as a cold front approaches, they don’t feed as well when the rain and clouds move in. The Sailfishing turns on 2 to 3 days after a cold front passes and and the Sailfishing remains excellent til the next cold front approaches, this cycle will continue thru February. There’s been quite a few small Dolphin around but most of them are not big enough for a circle hook to be effective so keep a spinning rod ready with some chunks of bait on a J-hook and feed’em. The Kingfish have moved in so thick they can’t be avoided which is great if you want to catch’em but they can drive you crazy when your targeting Sailfish. By the middle of the week til the next cold front moves in the fishing will be excellent with Sailfish, Dolphin and Kingfish providing the action. Give us a call and let’s go catch’em ! I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell or 772-288-1332 home

Better Late than Never

Hello Fish Fans, The Sailfishing had been dissapointing for this time of year the last couple of weeks but all that changed this weekend. Friday was the first day of the Annual Pirates Cove Sailfish Tournament and the Sailfish decided to show up. There’s been 120 Sailfish caught on 22 boats fishing the tournament in the last 2 days and packs of Sailfish are popping up producing double and triple hook-ups from Stuart to Ft. Pierce. This 20 mile stretch is teaming with Sailfish and the Sailfishing will be excellent for the next 4 to 6 weeks. This is the same stretch of water that as recently as last week was hit or miss, a few boats got lucky and the rest of us never got a shot. The Sailfishing off the coast of Stuart will be Red Hot for at least the next 2 weeks and double and triple hook-ups will be abundant. You can expect 3 to 5 on an average day and 5 to 10 with a little bit of luck. Sailfishing right now is as good as it gets so give us a call and let’s go catch’em. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt.Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell or 772-288-1332 home

December 03 2007

Bad to Worse

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing this past week was slower than expected with the Sailfish playin hide and seek and the dolphin on the small side. The weather was as good as it gets with calm seas and sunny skies but a nice day on the water is not a fishermans dream. I wasn’t on the water Thursday and Friday so the slow reports didn’t curtail my optimism,I always seem to find the fish and expected to be catching Sailfish and Dolphin as we have over the past 6 to 8 weeks. My clients had come down from South Carolina hopeing to spend the weekend catching Sailfish in the Sailfish Capital of the world. Saturday was the slowest day I can remember in recent weeks for all but a couple of private boats that managed to catch 3 Sailfish each less than a 1/2 mile away, we only managed to catch one small Dolphin and a couple of small sharks. Sunday I left the dock full of optimism because I knew it could only get better, I rarely have days like Saturday and it surely couldn’t happen 2 days in a row. Fishing to the north on Saturday didn’t pay off for us so we headed to the southeast to one of my favorite spots for Sailfish. Capt. VJ Bell on the charterboat Challenge who also bombed on Saturday did the same about 2 miles south of us. At about 10am there were a couple of sailfish caught up to the North and VJ hadn’t seen anything to the south either so we made a move. That’s when it went from bad to worse. Shortly before we got where I was going I blew a lower unit on 1 of the 2006 Yamaha 250 four strokes that power the Reel Busy. We were on a color change so we put the lines out, the conditions looked good with flying fish everywhere and frigit birds hovering above. Shortly after we set up VJ called me and told me he caught a Sailfish near where we had left, then called with another and shortly thereafter a double. The nice thing about having two high powered motors is that if one goes down we can travel at 20knts like most of the boats normally do so we picked up the lines and headed back south only to continue our frustration. There were a few more fish caught in the afternoon right there where we started out in the morning but the only luck we had was bad luck and we never got a shot. One of the most enjoyable things about running a boat like the Reel Busy is hooking people up with a fish they’ll always remember and there’s no worse feeling than not being able to get the job done no matter how hard you try. I know thats why they call it fishing but I sure hope I’m not forced to eat anymore humble pie for a while, I had a bellyfull this weekend. The Sailfish are here and there’s more to come so I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish capital of the world. Hit & Miss

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing this past week was slower than I expected but with a full moon overhead this week I should have seen it coming. The Sailfishing was hit & miss although we managed to catch at least one every trip. Today we caught one and had a couple of shots at the little ones but never got the hook set into the little guys. The Dolphin fishing was hit & miss as well with most of the Dolphin alot smaller than they were a couple of weeks ago, most of them only 3 to 5 pounds. The Kingfish are becoming more abundant and most of these fish are 5 to 10 pounds with a few 15 to 20 pounders in the mix. The Kingfish will be here for the next few months and the larger ones will become more abundant over the next several weeks. The brown bombers are starting to show up and they can be a reel pain in the.... The brown bombers are little brown sharks that are too small to fight and move around in little packs tearin up the baits. The full moon is moving out and the fishing should be excellent over the next few weeks so give us a call and Let’s go Fishin ! I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the world. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

The Little Ones

Hello Fish Fans, There’s always a few Sailfish lingering around the waters off the coast of Stuart Florida but the migration has begun and packs of little Sailfish are showing up. The first packs of Sailfish to show up during the migration are the little ones and they’re here. There’s a few big ones around leading the way but most of the Sailfish we’re catchin are 20 to 30 pounds. The boats that have not perfected circle hook ballyhoo rigs are jumpimg off more than they’re catching right now, most of them blaming it on the size of the fish instead of their rigging. Most of us old dogs are set in our ways but last year when circle hooks became mandatory in all Sailfish tournaments I needed to find the perfect circle hook ballyhoo rig and tried them all. I ended up combining two different styles of rigging techniques and the end result is a dead ballyhoo that swims like it’s alive and delivers a hook-up ratio that exceeds 90 percent. Live bait or dead bait doesn’t matter, the Reel Busy catches more Sailfish than most of the competition most of the time. Call the other guys if your lookin for a boat ride and a cabin to take a nap, but when you wanna catch Sailfish give us a call and we’ll hook you up. A slow day Sailfishing this time of year usually produces 1 or 2, a good day will produce 3 to 5. ***The sea conditions over the next few months can be a little bit sporty sometimes for those who aren’t used to being on the water. Many people take Dramamine to prevent motion sickness. STOP ! Dramamine turns most people into airheads too tired to enjoy themselves and prevents hurling less than 50% of the time. Pick up ginger tabs at the health food store, take 2 at bedtime and 2 first thing in the morning and go enjoy your day on the water. Ginger Ale will also help settle your stomach while your on the water.*** I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Taking Turns !

Hello Fish Fans, The first cold fronts of the year pushed thru over the last couple of weeks delivering lows around 60 and highs around 80. The Dolphin and the Sailfish seem to be taking turns delivering the action and there’s plenty of Kingfish around to take up the slack. The winds will be swinging around to the NE today and you can expect 3 to 5 or 4 to 6 foot seas most of the week, perfect conditions for Sailfishing. The Sailfishing off the coast of Stuart Florida is second to none, that’s what attracted me here a few years ago when I relocated from Islamorada. Sailfishing is my passion and for the next few months I expect to catch at least 2 or 3 everytime I leave the dock. I’d be lyin if I said we always catch’em but over the next few months we’ll have more days with more than 3 releases than we’ll have with 1 or less. The sailfish have started their migration to the south and they’ll be gathering along the coast of Stuart Florida. The Sailfish we’re catchin now will be moving around by themselves, pairs and small packs of 3 to 5. We’ll be catchin them 1 or 2 at a time and as these packs get larger doubles and triples are abundant. The ability to follow a fish completely around the boat is why the Reel Busy catches more Sailfish than the typical charter boat. Catching 1 at a time is great but catching 2 or 3 at a time is awesome. Give us a call, the Sailfish are waiting to dance with you. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell

Good News/Bad News

Hello Fish Fans, First the Bad News, Gale force winds and 12 to 14 foot seas kepted all the charter boats tied up to the dock this past week. The good news is the winds and seas are calming down and with a new moon this Friday you can expect red hot fishing for at least the next week. The fall tempertures have arrived with lows in the mid 60’s at night and highs in the lower 80’s during the day. I expect the fishing to be red hot this week for both Dolphin and Sailfish so call in sick or take the day off, the fish are waiting. The Dolphin and Sailfish should be stacked up along the 6 mile reef feeding on packs of Flying fish pushed into the reefs edge by the rough seas. Give me a call and we’ll go catch’em ! I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell or 772-288-1332 home

Hit or Miss

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing this past week was a hit or miss, good for the lucky ones and slow for the rest. The combination of a full moon on Thursday and a front backing up back over us on Friday I think played a major role in the slow down this weekend. We caught a few Dolphin but the Sailfish never paid us a visit. The Sailfishing I’m sure will pick back up and the Dolphin will continue to be around to pick up the slack when the Sailfish take their breaks. There’s been a few Wahoo being caught and they should continue to show up on a regular basis over the next few weeks. November is one of my favorite months of the year for fishing off the coast of Stuart. The tempertures begin cooling off and there’s a wide variety of fish just a few miles off the beach. We’ll be catching Sailfish, Dolphin, Kingfish, and Wahoo regularly and when the conditions are right the bottom fishing for Grouper and Mutton Snapper is excellent. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell or 772-288-1332 home

West Wind Slowdown

Hello Fish Fans, The offshore fishing here in Stuart over the last 3 to 4 weeks has been great but southwest winds put the breaks on yesterday. We managed to catch a Sailfish and a couple of Dolphin but after weeks of red hot fishing I was dissapointed. The winds swing around to west as a cool front approaches and a temporary slow down in the fishing usually occurs, they seem to get lockjaw. Oddly enough the best day Sailfishing on the Reel Busy this year was on a west wind, we caught 10 and lost a couple more. I told them when we left the dock not to expect too much due to the west wind and we spent more time catchin than fishin. The winds will be swinging back to normal later today and you can bet the fishing to turn back on when it does. We’re starting to see the little Sailfish that start moving in at the beginning of the Sailfish migration. Some of these Sailfish are only 5 to 10 pounds and it’s important that you don’t try to handle them by their bill because it’s very soft and not yet developed . The fishing will pick back up in the next day or so with Sailfish, Dolphin, Kingfish and Wahoo providing the action. Give us a call and let’s go catchem’. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 772-288-1332 home or 305-304-9049 cell

A Little Sporty !

Hello Fish Fans, The offshore fishing off the coast of Stuart Florida continues to be good to excellent with Dolphin and Sailfish providing the action. The past couple of weeks the Dolphin have been very cooperative on the Reel Busy but the Sailfish have been avoiding the Reel Busy. All that changed on Wednesday this week when my client wanted to put some Dolphin filets in the freezer. I didn’t even get all the baits out in the morning before we caught and released the first Sailfish, we ended up catchin 2 Sailfish and a couple of Dolphin on a 1/2 day morning trip. I wish we could have caught a few more Dolphin for him but anytime you catch a couple of Sailfish you’ve had a good trip. The wind began picking up yesterday and a it was a little sporty out there this morning with 5 to 7 foot seas. We managed to catch 1 Sailfish and 1 Dolphin in about an hour but only one of my clients was having a good time catchin fish, the other was chumming and lookin to get back to the dock. I wish we coulda stayed out and takin advantage of a red hot bite but the wind will be settling down over the next couple of days and I’m sure the fishing will continue to be excellent. I can arrange split charters for those of you that want to get out but don’t want to spend the money for the whole boat, give us a call and let’s go fishin. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell or 772-288-1332 home

Red Hot Dolphin Fishin

Hello Fish Fans, The Dolphin fishin off the coast of Stuart right now is Red Hot and with a new moon on the 10th, I expect it will continue like this for the next 2 weeks at least. Most of the Dolphin we’re catchin are 8 to 12 pounds and we’re catchin 15 to 20 pound dolphin on every trip. We’re catchin 10 to 15 Dolphin on every trip which stuffs 3 to 5 gallon bags full of Dolphin filets. Give us a call and let’s put some Dolphin filets in your freezer. The Sailfishin has been a little slower than I expected it would be with all the winds that have been pushing thru over the last 2 weeks. The Sailfish are scattered all over the ocean. One boat will catch one in 100 feet of water, another in 200 feet of water and I spoke with one boat that caught one in 600 feet of water the other day. You’ll need a little luck to catch one right now but if you get lucky you could catch 3 or 4, they’re here but scattered around. There’s plenty of Kingfish around cause they’re cutting me off 3 to 5 times a day but with all the Dolphin around we’re not trying to catch them. The Kingfish has razor blade teeth so if your not using wire they slice thru the mono like a hot knife thru butter but you’ll catch more Dolphin and Sailfish with mono than wire. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Sailfish/Dolphin/Tarpon

Hello Fish Fans, The offshore fishing right now is good to excellent with Dolphin and Sailfish providing the action. The Dolphin Fishin has been very consistant and you can expect 10 to 15 pounders on almost every trip. The action has been 5 to 6 miles offshore in 80 to 120 feet af water and as fall moves in the action will continue. The Sailfisin has been turning on and off, one day you’ll go out and catch 4 or 5 and the next day you’ll be lucky to see one. The first cool front is passing thru today with 30mph winds and 9 to 11 foot seas, I don’t mind 4 to 6 or even 6 to 8 foot seas but when it gets over 10 feet it’s not fishable, let alone fun. The wind and seas will be settling down in a few days and you can expect the fishing to be red hot when it does. The sloppy conditions will make it very tough for the fish to feed so when it settles down they’ll me on the hunt aggressively feeding. We haven’t been fishing for Kingfish with so many Dolphin and Sailfish around but we’ve been getting plenty of cut-offs so if you want to catch’em we can hook you up. This past week before the winds picked up the Tarpon were all along the beaches bustin up the bait and some of these fish are close to 150 pounds. The inter-coastal waterway and the inlets are teaming with Tarpon feeding on schools of mullet. October is a great time of year to spend a couple of days fishin the waters in and around Stuart catchin Sailfish, Dolphin and Tarpon. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Taking Turns

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing off the coast of Stuart remains excellent but everyday is an adventure into the unknown. The Dolphin and Sailfish seem to be taking turns feeding and you don’t who wants to play the game until you go. Yesterday and today the Sailfishing seem to slow down for most of us although there were a few caught and the Dolphin Fishing was excellent. I’ve caught Sailfish on almost every trip over the past few weeks but this weekend I couldn’t get away from the Dolphin. Today Murphy’s Law was in full effect for us and another charter boat, his party wanted to catch Dolphin and my party wanted to catch Sailfish. He caught 2 Sailfish while Dolphin fishin and never saw a Dolphin, we caught a dozen Dolphin and never saw a Sailfish. After speaking with him on the radio I ran 6 miles to where he was fishing and didn’t get the second bait in the water before hooking up another Dolphin. The winds picked up a little this past week and that pushed the Dolphin closer to shore so just a few miles off the beach you can expect to catch Dolphin, Sailfish, Kingfish and Wahoo. The inshore waters are teaming with Tarpon busting up the schools of mullet. The larger fish seem to be closer to the inlets but there’s Tarpon in the bays and rivers as well. I’ll be back next week with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Gotta Go Fishin !

Hello Fish Fans, Whether you do it in shore or offshore you gotta go fishin ! We had a great week this past week catchin Sailfish and Dolphin on our offshore trips and Tarpon and Snook on our inshore trips. The mullet run has started inshore so the finger mullet are comming thru by the thouands with Tarpon and Snook busting them up around the channels, bridges and inlets. Most of these Tarpon are 25 to 75 pounds but 100 pounders are always a possibility around the inlets and beaches. We’ve been using primarily Sardines for live bait offshore for the past 6 to 8 weeks but the Greenies are moving in and when that starts up the Sailfish start showing up in greater numbers as well. You can expect to catch at least one or two Sailfish if you target them right now with a few Kingfish and dolphin in the mix. Further off shore the Dolphin fishing is excellent with 7 to 10 pounders and 20 to 30 pound Dolphin are showin up almost every day. Give us a call take advantage of our 10% discount on offshore fishing charters thru September 30th, you’ll be glad you did. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Great Time for Fishin !

Hello Fish Fans, This is a great time for a fishin trip to Stuart Florida. The fishin is excellent and we’re catchin them all right now; Dolphin, Sailfish, Kingfish, Grouper, Wahoo, Bonita, Tuna and Cobia. The fall transistion is underway and we’ll be catchin a wide varity of fish over the next 6 to 8 weeks. There’s so many Dolphin movin thru right now that even the party boats are catchin a few. The evening trips for Snook and Tarpon have also been very productive mixed with Snapper, Trout and Ladyfish. Give me a call and Let’s Go Fishin ! 10% Discount on all offshore trips this month so take advantage of great fishin and save a few bucks at the same time. Dolphin are Back

Hello Fish Fans, The offshore fishin this past week was about the same as it has been for the last 6 weeks with Kingfish and Bonita providing most of the action and the Sailfishin turnin on and off almost on a daily basis. The good news is the Dolphin fishin is pickin back up in the deeper waters of the Gulfstream. The weedlines are forming and debris is starting to move in from the hurricanes down in the carribean. The gulfstream currents will be bringing debris like wood, trees, pallots and other debis, most of these structures will be holding Dolphin and Wahoo. The Dolphin fishin has been reel slow for the last 6 weeks but should be excellent for the next 6 to 8 weeks especilally around the new moons during the middle of September and October. The Sailfish will begin showing up in greater numbers as fall moves in and the tempertures begin cooling down a little. I got out 1 night this week for the opening of snook season and caught a couple of Monster Snook, we had to let one go but we managed to squeeze one of them together enough to fit him into the 32" slot. The new slot for Snook is 28" minimum and 32" maximum so you need to get a little lucky to catch the keepers. I’ll be back next week with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the world. Catch you later, Capt. Knocked Off

Hello Fish Fans, The best bite this past week was last Sunday and I didn’t have a charter. While I was home wishin I was fishin the charter boat "Sunday" knocked us off the leader board at Pirates Cove. The "Reel Busy" held the top spot with 10 Sailfish releases since mid February and figured it was a lock till we start over in January 2008 or at least till Sailfish season returns in Novembe/December. Capt. Henry Otto who also relocated here from the keys got into a pack of Sailfish and realeased 11 to knock us off the leader board. The Sailfish are off the coast of Stuart year-round but during the summer months a good day is usually 3 to 5, 1 or 2 is more likely. The rest of the week was back to normal with a few Sailfish here and there and Bonita and Kingfish providing most of the action. The Tuna fishin off the corner is still going off, Yellowfin Tuna, Blackfin Tuna and Skipjack Tuna will provide a workout you’ll not soon forget. The Wahoo fishin should be good over the next couple of weeks as the full moon moves in, unlike Dolphin fishin which slows down around the full moon the Wahoo fishin turns on. The best bite for the Wahoo will be before 8am so you’ll need to get out early but it’s usually worth it. I’ll be back next week with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Unbelieveable

Hello Fishfans, The offshore fishing is about the same has it has been the last couple of weeks with Bonita and Kingfish providing most of the action. The Sailfishin slowed down early this week but picked back up the last couple of days, 1 or 2 on average and 3 or 4 for the lucky ones. The early part of the week brought west winds or no winds, neither of which is very condusive for good fishing but the end of the week the winds came around to the northeast and east which is probably why the fishing picked up. I took a shot and headed offshore looking for Dolphin last Tuesday and kept going and going and going til we came to the backside of the gulfstream 48 miles offshore and found the perfect weedline. The weeds were scattered a little bit due to the west winds and the flying fish were all stacked up along the edge. We trolled that edge for over 6 miles and it was unbelieveable, not even one knockdown. We fished 2 other current edges that should have been loaded with Dolphin and came up empty there as well. The best part of the day was 40 miles out in a huge school of Skipjack Tuna in the 12 to 18 pound class. These Tuna were really movin fast so everytime you caught one you had to catch up to them again but it was pretty awesome watchin them chase down sardines bustin up the water all around the boat. I suggest you think twice before going after Dolphin for at least the next couple weeks if your lookin for action, I don’t know where they’ve gone but we’ve found weedlines, boards, bamboo, birds and everything else you look for when Dolphin fishin and nobody’s home. I’ll be back next week with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wahoo Fever

Hello Fish Fans, I’ve got Wahoo fever and don’t expect it to go away anytime reel soon now that I know they’re waiting for me early in the morning. I told you last week I was hoping my clients were up to an early departure so we could check out the early morning Wahoo Bite, Tuesday it paid off big time with a 32.6 pound Wahoo. A Wahoo is shaped like a torpedo so a 32 pound Wahoo is about 5 feet long with a 25" girth. The Wahoo is the fastest fish in the ocean and there’s no doubt about it when it explodes on the scene and the reel starts screaming, it’s awesome. The Wahoo is also one of the best eating fish in the ocean. I’m not a big sushi fan but I’ll be eating Wahoo while I’m fileting it everytime, there’s none better so bring your favorite sushi sauce and lets go Wahoo fishin. The Bonita and Kingfish are still bending the rods and providing plenty of action with a few Sailfish putting on a show. The Sailfishin not as hot as it was a couple of weeks ago but there’s still a few around and you’ll could catch 1 or 2 if you put your time in. The Dolphin fishin should start picking up again soon and if my clients this week are up to heading out to the deep blue waters of the gulfstream I think we’ll find them. I don’t expect to see too many Dolphin close to shore for another month or so but they will return to the inside edge of the gulfstream over the 4 to 6 weeks , in the meantime you’ll need to go deep if you want to catch Dolphin and don’t be surpized if you have an encounter with a Blue Marlin while your out there, they’re lookin for Dolphin too. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Give me a call and Let’s Go Fishin ! Catch you later, Capt. Kinda Slow

Hello Fish Fans, The fishin this past week was kinda slow but the Kingfish and Bonita are still bending the rods. The Sailfishin went from hot to not almost overnight, I don’t know where they went but nobody’s seen them since last weekend. The fishin is usually a little slower around the full moon but it usually doesn’t effect the Sailfishin as much as it does Dolphin fishin. The new moon is on the 12th this month and we should start seeing more Dolphin than we have over the last couple of weeks. I hope to get an early start this week so we can try the early morning Wahoo bite. I’ll be back next week with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Plenty of Action

Hello Fish Fans, The Sailfishing slowed down a little this past week but we managed to catch a couple on every trip but one. I think there’s still plenty of them around but I think thery’re spread out a little more than they were. There’s still plenty of Kingfish and Bonita around but we didn’t see any big smoker kings this week, most of them we’re 5 to 10 pounds. I didn’t get to the deeper waters of the gulfstream this past week to see if the Dolphin are pushin through again but they didn’t show up in the near shore waters. I’ll probably wait another week and let the full moon pass before I venture out looking for Dolphin but they will start showing up again in greater numbers reel soon. The Wahoo bite should be good over the next week or 2 but you’ll need to get out early, the best bite will be around sunrise but there’s some 50 to 80 pounders out there so it’s well worth losin a little sleep. The night fishin for snook has been excellent around the inlet, on a trip last week we caught and released 17 snook in about 3 hours. I look forward to September 1st when the season opens again and we can keep’em, fried snook on a plate is one of my favorites. I’ll be back next week with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Good News / Bad News

Hello Fish Fans, The bad news is the Dolphin fishin has slowed to crawl this past week with a little bit of scattered weed but no reel weedlines for the Dolphin to travel on. The Dolphin are probably stacked up on the backside of the Gulfstream but you don’t know till you go and it’s an additional 200.00 a day so if your set on catchin Dolphin I would recommend the Tuna trip and catch’em on the way back. The good news is there’s plenty of action just a few miles off the coast. The Sailfishin was red hot this week from 50 to 100 feet of water and I expect this to continue for the week or two. I’m not sure but if I had to guess I would say the Sailfish are spawning off the coast of Stuart right now. They’re all over the place cutting up the surface of the water and when you hook up a Sailfish you may see one or two swimming around him but not eating. The Sailfish are so aggressive right now that even using short wire leaders for Kingfish doesn’t seem to bother them too much. The Sailfishing right now is almost as good as the winter months, catching 2 or 3 is can be expected and 4 or 5 is a reel possibility. The biggest problem right now is keeping your baits in the water long enough for a Sailfish to find them due to the abundance of Bonita. Most of these fish are 10 to 15 pounds and when a pack moves in on you all the rods go off with reels screaming. The Bonita puts on a great fight but the only thing there good for other than that is bait, Bonita strips are as good as a live bait for catchin Dolphin. The Kingfisin has been good with a few 30 to 40 pounders showing up in between the Sailfish and Bonita. The Wahoo fishin has been excellent and some of these fish are 50 to 60 pounds but you’ll need to get out early. The Wahoo bite will turn on at sunrise and last for an hour or two and then it’s over. Give us a call or your favorite charter boat and get in on the action, you’ll be glad you did. The Dolphin fishin has slowed down for now but everything else has turned on, Let’s Go Fishin ! I’ll be back next week with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell or 772-288-1332 home

Gotta Go Deep

Hello Fish Fans, The Dolphin fishin was slower than expected this past week but the Dolphin we caught were all 15 to 30 pounds. Last Tuesday we covered almost a hundred miles and never found any Dolphin big enough to catch but Saturday was better with 5 Big Dolphin. The Dolphin are out there and there’s some big ones but you gotta go deep, 1100 to 1500 feet of water or about 18 to 25 miles offshore. Staying closer to shore in 100 to 300 feet of water, you’ll be 5 to 10 miles offshore catchin Kingfish, Bonita and possibly a few Sailfish but there’s not to many Dolphin travellin around that close to shore right now. I’ll be back next week with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell

Full Moon Fishin

Hello Fish Fans, This past week was typical full moon fishin and westerly winds for most of the week made it even tougher. The Dolphin fishin slowed to a crawl but we found a good concentration of Dolphin in 1200 to 1500 feet of water which is about 18 to 20 miles offshore, 6 to 8 miles further offshore than we had been finding them in previous weeks. We didn’t find allot of them but they were all gaffers in the 10 to 20 pound range. The Kingfishin was pretty good in about 80 feet of water, most of these fish were 8 to 15 pounds but you better be ready to do battle with 10 to 15 pound Bonita cause they’re all over the edge. We tried a little drift fishin for Mutton Snapper along the edge one day this past week and caught a couple but the Bonita were so thick it was hard not to hook’em up on the way down. The full moon is behind us for another month and you can expect much better fishin over the next couple of weeks, Dolphin, Wahoo, Kingfish, Tuna, Sailfish and Bonita will be providing plenty of action. The yellowfin Tuna are hit and miss on the Tuna trip but 15 to 25 pound Blackfin Tuna are abundant right now and you can count on them to pull your arms off. We’re only booked for a few days each week over the next couple of weeks so give us a call and you’ll catch fish. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell or 772-288-1332 home

50 Minutes of Bull

Hello Fish Fans, I only got out twice since my last report before I took the kids to Disney but the Dolphin fishin is still excellent and I’m glad to be back. Last Tuesday was a trip I won’t soon forget and I’d be willing to bet my clients will never forget. We ran out to an area about 12 miles offshore thats been reel good to me over the last 2 or 3 weeks and found an old torn up life jacket floating in the gulfstream with a pack of 8 to 12 pound Dolphin hangin around it. We caught 6 or 7 reel nice Dolphin there and decided to keep trolling into the gulfstream current to get back to where we started out earlier that morning. There wasn’t any weedline but there was plenty of flying fish and where there’s bait there’s usually gonna be fish. We may have trolled for 20 or 30 minutes but it didn’t seem that long before the short rigger got slammed and a Big Bull Dolphin came shooting up in the air like he was fired from a canon. I knew as soon as I saw him he was at least 40 pounds and I began casting another bait around him trying to hook up a Big Cow Dolphin but after about 10 minutes I was convinced that this Bull was by himself so I cleared the lines and watched the show. On this day I had 3 anglers, Scott who was fighting the fish, one that had never been deep sea fishing before and one that was busy chumming if you know what I mean. This Bull Dolphin was getting the best of Scott and about 30 minutes into it he handed me the rod to rest for a moment. I’ve caught plenty of 40 pounders, a few 50 pounders and 1 60 pounder, I can tell you this fish was all of 50 pounds and 6 feet long. Scott only got to rest for a couple of minutes because a Sailfish went cruising past the back of the boat and I had to try and Hook him up, why I don’t know. We didn’t catch the Sailfish because a Big Cow Dolphin took the bait and the next thing you know I had 5 more Big Dolphin hooked-up between the other 2 anglers while Scott was still fighting his Big Bull. We boated all the other Dolphin but after 50 minutes when it looked like the Big Bull was finished and doing circles 10 feet below the boat, Scott had a little too much muscle left for the freying 80 pound leader and the Big Bull got away to fight another day. I’ve never had a Dolphin wear through 80 pound leader with 20 pound tackle but the next time we hook-up with a Big Bull Dolphin he’ll have to chew through 100 pound leader to avoid me and the gaff. I’ll be back next week with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Give me a call and let’s go fishin ! Summer Surprize

Hello Fish Fans, The Dolphin fishing sputtered a bit this past week because we had several days of west winds which disrupted the formation of weedlines. The weedlines usually form up in a north to south direction providing a foodchain for the Dolphin to travel up and down the gulfstream feeding on the baitfish that hide in the weeds for protection. The west winds move these lines to an east to west direction scattering the Dolphin, they want to go north and south so they end up zig zagging the ocean making it much more difficult to locate them. We still found them but not as many and we spent more time looking than catchin, we still had days with 15 to 20 but we also had days with 5 to 8. The good news is the weedlines were forming up reel nice yesterday afternoon and it looks like things will get back to normal this week. The summer suprize has been the abundance of Sailfish off the coast of Stuart this past week and they were popping up everywhere from 80 feet of water to 600 feet of water. We usually get a big push of Sailfish for a couple of weeks in July but it looks like they’ll be here earlier and possibly longer this year. The Sailfish are migrating to the north looking for cooler water for the summer. The water temperature in the gulfstream right now is about 84 degrees give or take and thats a little too warm to keep the Sailfish happy. July is one of the best months of the year to target Blue Marlin off the coast of Stuart and the small schooley dolphin that are starting to move in are their favorite food. July is also an excellent time to spend the evening drifting the gulfstream for Swordfish, 1 to 3 will be hooked-up on almost every trip. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World ! Dolphin & Wahoo

Hello Fish fans, The Dolphin fishin continues to be excellent off the coast of Stuart in 600 to 800 feet of water providing catches of 20 to 30 Dolphin on every full day trip. Dolphin fishin on the Reel Busy this time of year is an experience you’ll never forget. We head offshore at 30 to 40 mph lookin for weedlines, birds and debris so we don’t troll you to sleep. When we find what we’re lookin for we’ll put out the lines and troll up a couple of Dolphin, that’s when Islamorada Style kicks in. While keeping the boat in gear we don’t bring any fish closer than 15 or 20 feet from the boat which keeps the whole school of Dolphin travelling with us. The open style Contender with rod holders all around the boat allows us to keep hookin-up fish with light tackle spinners till we get 6 or 8 of them hooked-up up at the same time. Once we get all the rods hooked-up we start bringing them in one at a time and hookin-up another before the next one is boated, it gets pretty wild but 15 or 20 Dolphin is a no-brainer this time of year if you know how to play the game. On a 1/2 day trip yesterday we got lucky in 700 feet of water and found a red bouy can that had broken loose from somewhere and was drifting in the Gulfstream, we caught 2 Wahoo and lost 2 more to go with the 10 Dolphin we had in the box. The next 7 to 10 days the Dolphin fishin will continue to be as good as it gets so give me a call and we’ll hook you up with a box load of Dolphin and have a great time doing it. The seas are calm and the fishin is great so I’ll be back next week with another excellent fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. The Bite is On !

Hello Fish Fans, The winds and seas have finally laid down and the Dolphin fishin is as good as it gets. The weedlines are forming up and we’re catchin 15 to 25 Dolphin on every full day trip, most of the Dolphin are 5 to 10 pounds with a few in the 15 to 25 pound range. The new moon is on the 14th this month and the Dolphin fishin will remain excellent for the next 2 weeks. The Dolphin is the fastest growing fish in the ocean and when they can’t feed by the moonlight they feed aggressively all day long. There’s a few Sailfish around so if you put your time in you can expect to catch a couple. Now’s the time to pack that freezer so give me a call and let’s go catch’em. I’ll be back next week with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters cell 305-304-9049 or 772-288-1332 home

Time to Fish !

Hello Fish Fans, Another week of gusty winds and rough seas but it’s all settling down this week and it’s time to fish. The TCBA Fishing Tournament is one of the biggest tournaments in Florida with over 500,000.00 in cash and prizes was canceled again this week and post-poned to next weekend. Normally held on Memorial Weekend every year this years back to back cancelations was a first. The good news is by Wednesday this week the winds and seas will get back to normal, 5 to 10 mph winds and 2 to 3 foot seas. I don’t ever remember being stuck at the dock for 3 weeks in a row during the month of May but I guess there’s a first time for everything. I can’t wait to get out this week, the Dolphin fishing should be red hot all along the coast of Stuart. These 20 to 30 mph easterly winds will push packs of Dolphin just off the coast and you can bet they’ll be a feeding frenzie going on. The bait gets so scattered about with 8 to 10 foot seas and you can bet the Dolphin haven’t had an easy time keeping up with their appetite. The offshore fishing the next couple of weeks should be as good as it gets all along the east coast of Florida so give us a call or your favorite charter service and take advantage of some of the best offshore fishing of the year. We’ll be catchin Dolphin, Sailfish, Blue Marlin, Wahoo and Kingfish. The Yellowfin Tuna fishing should be excellent for those who venture out to the corner, it’s about a 75 mile run from stuart but with calm seas and the speed of the Reel busy it’s easily done and usually well worth the trip this time of year. I’ll be back next week with a great fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the world. Catch you later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell or 772-288-1332 home

Total Blowout !

Hello Fish Fans, I wish I could give you a fishin report but I can’t, this week was a total blowout. The wind blew at 20 to 30 mph all week long and continues as I write this report. The seas have been runnin 8 to 12 feet, choppy and sloppy. The winds started layin down a little yesterday, 15 to 20 mph with 5 to 7 foot seas and the next few days 4 to 6 foot seas can be expected. I don’t know where all this wind is coming from but 2007 has been the windiest year I can remember, it lays down for a day or so and then starts crankin again. Hopefully the wind will continue to lay down as the week goes on and I’ll be back with a fishin report next week from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Windy Conditions

Hello Fish Fans, The wind just keeps on Blowin bustin up the weedlines and scattering the Dolphin. We’re catchin Big Dolphin 15 to 35 pounds on almost every trip but we’re not catching the numbers we usually do. All we need is the wind to take a break and settle down, yesterday the wind was blowin at 20 to 25 out of the northeast and when that meets up with the northbound gulfstream current it creates a washing machine effect, 6 to 8 foot seas with a few 10 footers at no extra charge. The wind must have noticed that most of the charter boats were at the dock today so it took a break and the seas settled down a little but the forcast has them building back up for the next few days. It looks like things will start returning to normal this weekend and on into next week, the forecast has the wind beginning to drop by Friday, we’ll see. The Sailfishing has been excellent for this time of year, you’ll probably catch 2 or 3 if you target them right now. The Tarpon should begin migrating up the beach over the next couple of weeks, there’s been a few around but the best is yet to come. June, July and August is prime time for Tarpon fishing along the beaches and inlets in the Stuart area. I’ll be back next week with another fishin report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell 772-288-1332 home

Hit or Miss

Hello Fish Fans, This past week started out un-fishable with 12 t0 14 foot seas on Monday, 10 to 12 on Tuesday and 8 to 10 on Wednesday. We finally got out on Thursday morning and the conditions continued to improve the rest of the week. The heavy seas and west winds scattered the Dolphin around so it was a hit or miss, you either had a great day or you struggled to catch a few. The Sailfishing remains excellent for this time of year, there’s so many Sailfish around that we’re catchin 1 or 2 when we’re Dolphin fishing. Today should be the last day of west winds so as the week goes on I expect the Dolphin fishing to improve, the weedlines will reform and the Dolphin will be more concentrated around them. The Wahoo never showed up in numbers this year and during a Dolphin, Kingfish, Wahoo tournament this past weekend not even 1 of the 310 boats fishing the tournament weighed in a Wahoo. The new moon is this Wednesday so the offshore fishing for Sailfish and Dolphin should be excellent for the 10 days or so but if you want to target the Blue Marlin the first week in June and July will be prime time, the Blue Marlin are the most aggressive around the full moon. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell Let’s Go Fishing !

Better than Expected

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing this past week was better than expected, the Dolphin fishing slowed down as it always does around the full moon but the Sailfish showed up to save the day. The only day this week that we caught over 10 Dolphin was today but for the next 2 to 3 weeks I would expect at least 10 or 12 on a daily basis. There’s alot of Dolphin in the 15 to 20 pound range showing up and over the next few weeks 25 to 40 pounders will be more abundant. Large schooly Dolphin in the 7 to 10 pound range are starting to show up in numbers and with the new moon on the way these fish will be eating everything in their path, you gotta love it. The Reel Busy has 7 or 8 days still available between the 10 and 25th this month so give me a call and let’s pack that freezer with Dolphin filets. Nobody catches more Dolphin than the Reel Busy but if you want a bigger boat with an air conditioned cabin to ride around in give me a call and I’ll hook you up with the best competition available. The big surprize this past week was the abundance of sailfish cruising around the Stuart area, we can usually catch 1 or 2 year-round but right now 3 or 4 is very possible with a little bit of luck. The Wahoo fishing has been slower than normal this year but with all the Dolphin/Wahoo/Kingfish Tournaments this month I’m sure a few more will find there way to the fishbox. The next couple of days will not be fishable with seas running 12 to 14 feet but as the week goes on we’ll get out and I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Tough Week

Hello Fish Fans, The week started out great with alot of big Dolphin, 25 to 40 pounders seem to be everywhere but as the week went on it became reel tough to put a good catch together. The gulfstream currents were screaming along at 4 to 5 knots and everyday the moon was getting bigger and bigger. The wind has switched around again which should slow the currents down to normal but with a full moon May 2nd this week you’ll need to catch’em early, by mid day you can expect the fishing to slow down until late afternoon when the Dolphin start feeding again. May 10th to the 25th will be some of the best Dolphin fishing of the year for those of you that want to catch Big Dolphin in the 25 to 50 pound class. The Blue Marlin fishing off the coast of stuart is excellent this time of year and will be throughout the summer months. The full moons may not be the best time for Dolphin fishing but Blue Marlin fishing is always better around the full moon. There’s still quite a few Sailfish around and if you put your time in you’ll probably catch a couple, you’ll need to be patient but you’ll catch’em. The conditions have prevented us from searching out the Yellowfin Tuna on the backside of the gulfstream but we’re catching a few Blackfin Tuna and Skipjack Tuna while runnin and gunnin for Dolphin. The Reel Busy is the top boat in the Stuart Area when it comes to Dolphin fishing because of the run and gun style perfected in the years spent in Islamorada. Nobody will put you on more Dolphin than the Reel Busy so give me a call and let’s go get’em. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Big Dolphin

Hello Fish Fans, The waters off the coast of Stuart and Jupiter are teaming with Big Dolphin right now between 20 and 40 pounds. The weedlines are scattered around and so are the fish but overall the Dolphin fishing was excellent this past week. These Big Dolphin should be around for the next 3 to 5 weeks and a 30 to 40 pound Bull Dolphin on the end of your line is an awesome sight. The Big Bull Dolphin jumps out of the water with much more attitude than a smaller dolphin, he stands up on top of the water and challenges you to a fight. I’ve got a few open days this week so if you want to catch one of these monsters, now’s the time to give me a call and make it happen. There still seems to be plenty of Sailfish around, we caught a couple this week while trolling for dolphin on the weedlines so targeting them would probably produce 2 or 3 if you put your time in. The kingfish have moved in and some of these fish are in the 40 pound class. I love this time of year, there’s lots of big fish around and the weather is perfect, not too hot and not too cool. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell 772-288-1332 home

April Cold Fronts ?

Hello Fish Fans, I can’t believe cold fronts are pushng through in the middle of April, go away already. During the spring and summer months the winds are generally out of the southeast and the gulfstream currents form weedlines that are teaming with Dolphin. These cold fronts bring with them strong winds out of almost every dirrection breaking up the weedlines and scattering the fish. The fishing this past week was hit and miss but we caught several Dolphin in the 20 to 35 pound range and it’s always great when your catching the big ones. The Sailfish are scattered all over the place, this past week we caught them in 120 feet like normal but caught one in 600 feet of water and another in 1200 feet of water while trolling a current edge for Dolphin. There’s another cold front pushing through today with clocking winds once again, the winds are blowing 20 to 35 mph and you can bet the weedlines that had startted looking reel good on Saturday will once again be blown apart. There’s alot of Big Dolphin cruising around the gulfstream right now and will be for the next 4 to 6 weeks. The deeper waters of the gulfstream from 800 to 1200 feet is 15 to 20 miles off the coast of Stuart and this time of year these current edges will be holding Dolphin, Wahoo and the grand daddy of them all; the Blue Marlin. We caught the first Blue Marlin in April last year and continued to catch them throughout the summer months. Blue Marlin love to feed on Dolphin so when you find a big school of Dolphin there’s usually a Blue Marlin near by just waiting to play the game. The fishing will probably remain hit and miss over the next several days with the passing of this front but the fishing will be red hot as soon as the weather patterns get back to normal, hopefully reel soon. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 Let’s Go Fishing !

Take your pick !

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing slowed a little during the full moon but it’s gone now and the fishing is excellent. Springtime fishing off the coast of Stuart Florida provides a variety of fish that is second to none. The Sailfishing has slowed down but if you put your time in you can expect to catch 1 or 2 on most days and this time of year most of them will be big fish in the 50 to 75 pound range. The Cobia fishing is as good as it gets and should be for the next few weeks. Cobia in the 30 to 50 pound range are being caught on a daily basis hanging around the reefs, wrecks, turtles and rays. The Kingfish are showing up in greater numbers and we’re seeing more big kings in the 30 to 40 pound range. The bottom fishing has been good but the sea conditions have been a little to sporty to be comfortable anchored up. The Dolphin fishing has been pretty good considering we had a full moon this past week with 30 to 40 pounders starting to show up. The Dolphin fishing will be excellent over the next six weeks with a slow down around the first week of May and June due to the full moon. The Dolphin is the fastest growing fish in the ocean because they’re like a feeding machine cruising the gulfstream waters eating everything in their path, even each other. The Dolphin fishing slows down a little around the full moon cause they can eat 24 hours a day but as the full moon moves on they tend to feed all day long cause they can’t feed as well in the darkness. Nobody catches more Big Dolphin than "Reel Busy" and "Quit Yer Bitchin" so give us a call and we’ll hook you up. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell

Slow fishin, Nice Catch

Hello Fish Fans, The fishing overall this past week was on the slow side but as the full moon passes the fishing should get going again. Although the fishing was slow there were alot of nice fish caught, 37 pound Cobia and Dolphin 25 to 35 pounds. The wind has finally settled down a little and the Cobia are starting to be more abundant, we’ve caught at least 1 or 2 the last 3 days. The Sailfishing has slowed down to a crawl on most days but it’s still possible to catch 1 or 2, if your patient you just might get lucky. The Dolphin fishing was hit and miss last week as well, if you got lucky you caught a few nice fish but overall there wasn’t much to it. The Dolphin fishing almost always slows down on the days surrounding the full moon so we should see alot more Dolphin by early next week. The month of April offers a wide variety of fish to target, Dolphin, Cobia, Sailfish, Kingfish, Blue Marlin, Swordfish and Wahoo. Let’s Go Fishin ! Catch you later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters

Going Nuts

Hello Fish Fans, I’m going nuts sitting around waiting for the wind to stop blowing. The winds been blowing 20 to 30 since my last report with seas running 7 to 10 foot and choppy. All the charter boats have been tied to the dock this past week and the ones that did venture out wished they hadn’t. When it gets this snotty it’s just not any fun and it doesn’t matter how big the boat is, it’s just not fishable. The good news is the winds will start settling down over the next couple of days so by later in the week the fleet should be catchin fish once again. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell 772-288-1332 home

A Little Sporty

Hello Fishfans, The seas this past week were what I like to call a little sporty at 3 to 5 and 4 to 6 for most of the week. The fishing overall this past week was on the slow side but we managed to catch a couple of Sailfish on most trips this week with Big Bonita,Dolphin or small sharks. The Dolphin fishing was on and off this past week but if yesterday is any indication the Dolphin are back in pretty good numbers. The cold front that pushed through this past week will provide a good Sailfish bite over the next week and if your ready to catch a few Sailfish and Dolphin give us a call and we’ll hook you up. The north winds and the currents pushing up from the south can provide a tailing condition for both Sailfish and Dolphin. When this occurs you’ll actually see the fish rideing down the waves, you can pitch them a bait or troll you baits right into their path, it’s pretty awesome. The Sailfishing should remain good for the next couple of weeks and the Dolphin fishing will get better and better every week for the next 4 to 6 weeks. There’s plenty of Cobia in town and when the seas settle down you can run down the beach looking for the Big Rays and Turtles. The Cobia hang around under them just waiting for you to flip them a bait and bring’em home for dinner. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Give us a call and Let’s Go Fishing ! Beautiful Days

Hello Fishfans, This past week was filled with beautiful days with lows in the 60’s, highs near 8o, steady breezes and mild seas. The fishing was every bit as good as the conditions with most days producing 10 to 15 Dolphin per trip with 1 or 2 Sailfish in the mix. The Sailfishing has slowed down a little but there’s still plenty of Sailfish off the coast of Stuart and it’s still possible to catch 4 or 5 Sailfish if you get lucky. The Dolphin fishing is as good as I’ve ever seen it this early in the year and if this is any indication of whats to come you can expect some awesome dolphin fishing this spring. The next week or two should be about the same as this past week so if your looking to catch Sailfish, Dolphin, Wahoo, Grouper, Cobia or King and Spanish Mackerel give me a call and I’ll hook you up. April and May is a great time for those of you that wanna do some Big Game fishing for Yellowfin Tuna, Blue Marlin, Big Wahoo and Dolphin. The Yellowfin Trip does it all, we leave the dock at 5am and return between 5pm an 6pm. We begin targeting the Yellowfin Tuna off the coast of the Bahamas around sunrise which is 40 to 50 miles off the coast of Stuart. When the Tuna bite shuts down we switch over to looking for Dolphin, Wahoo and Blue Marlin. The full day trip leaves at 7am and returns between 3pm and 4pm. The run and gun style of the Reel Busy and Quit Yer Bitchin is the reason we consistantly catch more Big Dolphin, Wahoo and Blue Marlin. The choice is yours, you can put’em out n’ pray with another charter service or go runnin and gunnin with Reel Busy Charters and catch more fish. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Captain Wayne Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell 772-288-1332 home

Springtime Fishing

Hello Fishfans, Spring is moving in and that means a wide variety of fish to choose from. The Sailfishing this past week was day to day, one day you’ll catch 4 or 5 and the next day you’ll be lucky to catch 1 or 2. The bait schools are thick off the coast of Stuart and as long as the bait stays piled up like this the Sailfishing will continue to be good. The Dolphin fishing has been good and over the next 4 to 6 weeks it will get better and better. The past couple of fronts have stalled out bringing westerly winds for days at a time but as spring moves in the winds will stabilize to the east/southeast. The east/southeast winds will allow the weedlines to start forming up and when they do the Dolphin fishing will be excellent for the weeks and months to come. The Cobia are starting to move in cruising around the Reefs under the Turtles and Rays. Dolphin up to 25 pounds and Cobia up to 37 pounds were caught this week and bigger ones are on the way. The bottom fishing has been improving and Grouper up to 25 pounds are being caught on a regular basis. Light tackle fishing for Spaniash Makerel has been excellent providing lots of action from the St. Lucie Inlet to Pecks Lake. Most of these fish are in the 3 to 5 pound class but 7 to 10 pounders are consistantly showing up. The fishing overall this past week was excellent excluding Saturday when they seemed to get lockjaw as a fast moving front was sliding through. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Sailfish, Dolphin, Wahoo, Kingfish, Cobia, Tuna and Blue Marlin, We catch’em all! Give us a call and let’s go fishing ! Catch you later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049

Let’s Go Fishing !

Hello Fishfans, The fishing this past week off the coast of Stuart Florida was excellent once again. The Sailfishing is starting to slow down but we still managed to catch 1 or 2 on most days and 4 on two different days. The Sailfish are moving down the coast in packs so when you get into them multiple hook-ups are plentiful but the bite is on and off so you’ll need to be persistant if you want to catch’em. The Dolphin fishing is off to a great start, it’s a little early to expect double digit catches but we did catch 18 between 5 and 10 pounds on Saturday. The Cobia are starting to show up along the reefs and under the turtles and manta rays moving around between Stuart and Ft. Pierce. The fishing and the weather conditions this past week were as good as it gets but today we cut the day short. The winds kicked up to about 25mph bringing with it a 4 to 6 foot sloppy sea and the fish seemed to be on holiday. Springtime fishing will be moving in over the next 30 days and you can expect the Sailfishing to start slowing down and the Dolphin fishing will start turning on. I love to catch and release Sailfish but after 2 or 3 months of catch and release the preditor in me is ready to kill some fish. For those of you that want to eat what you catch your gonna love fishing on the Reel Busy in March. We’ll be catching Dolphin, Wahoo, Cobia or Kingfish on a daily basis and when the conditions are condusive we’ll be catchin Yellowfin Tuna off the coast of the Bahamas. Give us a call and let’s go fishing ! I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Sweet Valentine

Hello Fish Fans, The Sailfishing this past week was excellent between the fronts but Valentines Day was one sweet valentine. The bait pods were close to shore in 40 to 50 feet of water but they were moving around so fast they were really hard to catch. I started putting out the lines as we caught bait and almost immediately hooked-up a double header. We caught a few more baits and soon after we caught another Sailfish. I bet we didn’t have more than a dozen baits in the well the entire day but almost evry bait we caught turned into a Sailfish. We kept working the same area and a little while later with the last 4 baits in the well we caught a triple, it’s absolutely nuts when you’ve got 3 Sailfish dancing all around the boat while we try to fique out which one we can catch first. We found another little pod of bait and put another dozen in the well. We put out the lines and it didn’t take long before a pack of Sailfish ambushed us and we hooked-up 3 of the 4 Sailfish that attacked our baits. While 3 of my 4 anglers were fighting their fish I put out another line for the 4th angler to watch and sure enough we hooked-up a 4th Sailfish while I was releasing the first, it just doesn’t get any better than that, you gotta love it. We ended up catching 10 out of the 12 Sailfish we hooked-up on Valentines Day and the Reel Busy is once again the top boat for Sailfish releases in a day at pirates Cove Resort and marina, How Sweet it is. I’ll be back next week with another fishing report from Stuart Florida, Sailfish Capital of the World. Catch you later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049 cell or 772-288-1332 home

Gotta Love It !

Hello fish Fans, The fishing off the coast of Stuart Florida has been second to none. The Sailfish are balling up bait just off the beach in 40 to 60 feet of water providing catches of 3 to 5 Sailfish a day and if your the lucky boat you could see 7 to 10, you gotta love it. The Sailfishin is great and the Dolphin fishing is just as good and if that wasn’t enough the Kingfish and Cobia are moving in as well. The bait that started pushing through over the last week or two should have been here over 6 weeks ago and with a little bit of luck the Sailfisng could continue to be excellent on into March
